I'm going for it tomorrow. Increasing my 20mg to 30mg after 10 years and I'm absolutely terrified.

I'm going to run a bit of a diary on this thread to hopefully look back on and monitor my progression and side effects

Wish me luck!!

That should say letting ME join in/hijack! 🤣

overthinkersanonnymus · 12/10/2022 16:18

@BagpussBagpussOldFatFurryCatpuss I thought you'd been given a miracle drug that will hold our hands through the side effects 🤣 I was like "tell me what this is immediately" 🤣🤣

I'm glad I started the thread now. I definitely feel less alone so thank you to everyone!!

Ps I spoke to the pharmacist and he said Kalms were shite and like chucking a bottle of water at a house fire. Pointless. Back to the drawing board!

I got kalms the other week but never used them. I also got some rescue remedy stuff which I think is shite and doesn't even touch the sides!

Would/have any of you tried cbd oil? I started that too but apparently can take a few weeks to kick in as well.

overthinkersanonnymus · 12/10/2022 16:44

@cookies92 how did you get on at your doctors appointment?

OP posts:
cookies92 · 12/10/2022 17:00

@overthinkersanonnymus it's a phone call. They were meant to phone sometime after 4 but I'm still waiting 🤦‍♀️

cookies92 · 12/10/2022 20:35

So I'm getting some propanalol. She wasn't very keen to prescribe because I've just started the citalopram and she said if I got side effects of the propanalol they'd not know if it was that or the citalopram and its usually prescribed once you're fully ok on the anti depressants. So now I shall probably end up worrying about side effects from that 😂😂 I'll probably only take it if I'm absolutely desperate. My anxiety has been ok today actually but I'm feeling a bit anxious about bedtime as thats when it's been at it's worst during the night recently.

How's everyone else's day been?

overthinkersanonnymus · 12/10/2022 20:53

@cookies92 why would they prescribe propanalol after thr event? That just makes no sense to me.

I'm excited to hear how you get on with it. Apparently it's meant to be an instant relief 🤞🏻🤞🏻

I suppose she's right if I did get side effects from it but then I'm not planning on taking it willy nilly it was only if I required it so surely I'd be able to tell if it was that that caused any potential side effects?

EmmaH2022 · 12/10/2022 21:08

My mum swears by Kalms

re the propwotsit, I can see the argument against it in terms of weeding out side effects. I was warned I'd have an overspill of anxiety starting on citalopram but the GP I like so much told me to push through it because she felt it was important to get the sense of it working.

I had to take Imodium for about two or three weeks to get to work. Also I used to wake at about 5am, hyperventilating. I sympathise with everyone here.

overthinkersanonnymus · 13/10/2022 09:37

Good morning girls. I'm back in work this morning, stiff as a board. I've got a telephone appointment with my gp to see if they can add something to make the increase less horrible.

How's everyone doing today?

Im hanging in there. Just got notified my landlord is coming to inspect the house on Monday. I’m all anxious and worried now. It’s not as clean as usual because I just had covid. I’ve been trying to do a bit of dusting this morning but very breathless. Everywhere I look something needs to be done. It’s overwhelming really and I think I’m in shut down mode (hence being on MN)

overthinkersanonnymus · 13/10/2022 11:25

@Discovereads just focus one one area of the house today, Like the bathroom. Give a once over and you'll feel 100 times better. Then tomorrow go over the kitchen. Then Saturday bedrooms and Sunday living room and once over the kitchen tops and floors. By Monday it'll all be done and you'll have nothing to worry about plus you'll get those happy reward hormones

@cookies92 how you doing? Did you take a propranolol? I've just received my prescription for some and my drs agreed to slow the increase right down to every 3rd day rather than every other day

OP posts:
cookies92 · 13/10/2022 14:06

@overthinkersanonnymus I haven't got the prescription yet. I will only take one if I get high anxiety. So far I've been ok, wasn't as panicked last night and this morning although was slightly. I'm hoping the side effects are maybe wearing off 🤞 I'm on day 9.

So do you take a tablet every 3rd day now or how does it work?

overthinkersanonnymus · 13/10/2022 16:41

@cookies92 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

I'm taking my usual 20mg then every 3rd day, adding an extra 10mg for a month then hopefully every second day and do on

overthinkersanonnymus · 14/10/2022 07:43

Dear diary, I'm now on day 8 of a slow increase. My body was extremely stiff so my drs have slowed it down even more to and extra 10mg every 3rd day. I'm slightly wishing I'd not bothered starting the process but the decrease seems to have taken some of the tension away, although I'm still teeth clenching.

I'm going to keep trying to push through and hopefully come out the other side soon. it's a long road ahead and I'm scared but I want to be well and enjoy life again. It's taken me 8 years to pluck up the courage to do this and I want to know I've tried my hardest, even if I fail x

I'm now on day 10 (still yet to take my pill) but feeling better than I have done. Still feel like when I was pregnant in the morning and feeling sick and off but if I force myself to eat I feel better. Sleeping a bit better too. Had my first child free night in weeks which has helped too!

Discovereads · 14/10/2022 11:27

You’re doing great ladies. Just one day at a time. It’s so important to be tracking your mood too so you know if it works or not. Hugs xx

overthinkersanonnymus · 15/10/2022 09:48

Fuck this. I'm going back to my normal dose. I feel like im walking through mud and my eyes don't work properly. Psychologically I feel ok but physically, im struggling and I can't work like this. I might try again later in the year but for now, I'll just try and get back to how I was. Hopefully

Discovereads · 15/10/2022 12:47

Oh no @overthinkersanonnymus
Do you think you can hold out until Monday? It usually takes 10days to 2 weeks to get used to a new dose.
