Please tell me that mine isnt the only house that looks like a compete shit-hole?!?! I'm sick to death of all the crap everywhere. DD's toys and clothes that she just dumps everywhere. dp's clothes on the floor that he cant be bothered to pick up and wash. No matter how many times i tidy it the house looks awful and its really getting me down. I dread anybody knocking on the door because its too embarassing to open it! I know you cant expect to have a toddler and an immaculate house but surely not this bad??? I dont know anyone else with little ones so i havent had any other experience of it. I've just filled a black bag with a load of toys pens figures and chucked it out and thats only one room!! Do you think it would be cruel to throw it all away? (obviously not all of her stuff!!)

loobz. did you have fun at the do? I love a good party, especially when it's someone elses mess

Well, today I said I'd be a total slob (what's new??) but I've been reading the latest Prima mag and it has lots to do with decluttering so I've done the kitchen cupboards. Would you believe I got 2 carrier bags full from one cupboard? There's lots more space now though for the chrimbo grub I'll be getting in.

How's everyone else doing?

Loobz · 22/12/2004 17:09

Hi Juniperdropofbrandy, I had a lovely time, ate far too much of course and they all expected the moan about the office being a mess. They have promised me that it will be tidy for my return in January!
My house on the other hand is like a tip at the moment - central heating boiler on the blink - guy out to look at it today and coming back to fix it tomorrow. Everything that normally lives in the cupboard is now scattered around the landing at top of stairs. Don't see the point in puting it away - it would only need to be pulled back out tomorrow again. Will clean it after he's fixed it - well that's if I have time - works night out tomorrow and no broken foot is stopping me going to that
Of course, repair man had to check radiator in dd's room - which is always like a tip. Had a laugh with him - he says his daughter is the same. Can't believe I was so calm about it just shut the door and announced that she can live in a tip if she really wants - what is wrong with me????

juniperdropofbrandy · 22/12/2004 17:19

loobz

Hope you have another good night tonight. I'm off out for a meal with mum, sis and mum's mate so we should have a good laugh.

Haven't done much in the way of chores today as kids been playing so didn't want to disturb them Plus I had visitors all afternoon (the type you don't have to be immaculate for)

posyhairdresser · 22/12/2004 18:18

My house is terrible & much worse than all but 1 other parent's house I have been to.

I am very undomesticated and have too much stuff for the size of my house.

Some houses are easier to keep tidy than others I reckon. Or that's my story anyhow.

ItllBeLonelymumThisChristmas · 22/12/2004 18:32

Do I get the vote for worst mother? I have just had a huge rant at my children and told them to tidy their toys and any toys left lying around after 1st January will be collected up and sold! The strain of the season is getting to me.

Loobz · 22/12/2004 20:42

I have a theory about tidy houses. In the course of my work I have to visit people in their houses and I worry if I visit a house where there are children and everything is immaculate. Children are messy when they play and there is a whole world of difference between an untidy house (where children probably play quite happily) and a dirty one - and believe me I have seen some filthy ones in my time. But my theory is that untidy houses have happy children in them!!! No I have no been at the alcohol (that's tomorrow) I know - the garbage some people come up with to justify the state of their houses but you have to admit it sounds good - and if that one fails then I revert to the 'I'm far too busy'

juniperdropofbrandy · 22/12/2004 22:59

i agree loobz, i know people with tidy houses and they're kids aren't as relaxed as mine. Mind you I've just got my two to put their shoes in the basket and coats under the stairs but there are always toys strewn everywhere.

blossomgoodwill · 22/12/2004 22:59

I have had a stressful day too. Are my 2 the messiest 2 around or are all 5 and 7 yr olds messy?

juniperdropofbrandy · 22/12/2004 23:02

mine are 4 and 7 and I think they are if allowed? A mate of mine has kids the same age and i had them for a few nights when she was having her 3rd, they were sooooo tidy. The eldest rollocked my son the same age for being messy? Thing is though mate is mega untidy so I don't know how they ended up like that?

Loobz · 24/12/2004 07:53

Dare I say this - they get worse when they become teenagers I am currently refusing to go into my dd's room - the place is a tip and i've given up shouting and screaming at her, it's just not worth the hassle - although I could have throttled her the other day when the heating engineer had to check her radiator Luckily he said his dd was the same - relief!!!!

juniperdropofbrandy · 25/12/2004 17:10

Yes I had that heating engineer dilemma if you read further down the thread We didn't realise he was coming as it'd slipped my mind.

Yesterday I got all hoovered through, then decided to clean the guinea pigs out who live in DSs room. I lifted the top off their enormous cage and put them in the bathroom with top on leaving bottom bit open. Went downstairs to get phone, DS1 went up and said 'oh no mam DS2 has put the sawdust all over' He's scattered the dirty sawdust all over the bedroom, hall and then came hurtling downstairs with it all over his head so it went all over the stairs and living room. I just couldn't believe it!!! needless to say I shouted. I had the whole lot to do again

Loobz · 26/12/2004 12:17

I have just decided that I'm far too tired to clean ever again! Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas

juniperdropofbrandy · 27/12/2004 12:55

Ikwym loobz, my kitchen and bathroom are ok but everywhere else is overtaken by toys! Still it's a good excuse to be untidy

juniperdropofbrandy · 27/12/2004 12:56

BTW hope you had a good christmas too loobz, we had a lovely one thanks

Loobz · 27/12/2004 18:39

I had a lovely Christmas thank you juniperdropofbrandy. Been very low today though - dh is working away and went back today - he's home again on thursday. Thing that's getting me down the most though is this foot - It's been really painful today. I go back to doctor on Wednesday and I'm dreading in case she says I'm still not fit to go back to work. I kin of have my hopes built up to get back on 3rd January. I know I still can't drive but I can work round that for a couple of weeks. Oh I am a moan tonight - just ignore me Sure I'll fell better tomorrow after a good nights sleep!

Loobz · 27/12/2004 18:40

Eh, that should have read feel better - not fell better - it was the falling that got me into this mess in the first place-

juniperdewdrop · 29/12/2004 21:56

Awww sorry to hear you're low (((hugs))) hope you're feeling better soon.

I felt down when dh was away for a week, it made me clean up though probably as i was bored on a night?

Loobz · 30/12/2004 09:22

Thank you for the hugs Juniperdewdrop! Was at doctors yesterday and I am being allowed back to work on Monday - Gp did initially want me to take another 2 weeks off but am allowed back so long as I don't drive for another week or so.
My house which is spotless (apart from Dd's room) will soon be back to its usual chaotic state

Amanda3266 · 30/12/2004 09:40

Zephyrcat,

I too suffer from CHAOS (Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome).

Hate it but seem powerless to change it. Am definitely going to do a boot sale in the Spring.

Mandy

I like that one Sallystrawberry. Think I will adopt it for new year (says she who has spent all day running around like something demented getting the house clean for the new year - my granny has a lot to answer for)

juniperdewdrop · 03/01/2005 16:49

I can't remember that one sally but I like it

I still have the fridge magnet in pride of place that you gave me,

Both of us can't look this good - it's either me or the house!

Loobz · 03/01/2005 21:00

Juniperdewdrop, that is a good one too! First day back at work today and admittedly haven't exactly worked very hard but came home to find Dh had put up shower screen - Wonderful - but the rest of the bathroom looked like a bomb site and who was left to tidy it. Of course when I complained I was met with 'I was going to tidy it' - Men!!!!
Am too tired to argue tonight - this going back to work is tiring

juniperdewdrop · 05/01/2005 18:29

Glad your first day back went ok

You've got a clever dh there, I just had to get my mate's dh to put my bath panel on, he did it gratis though bless him. I'm going to buy him a few bottles of Brown though as he likes that.
