I’m on day 13 of sertraline, I can feel I have improved slightly but my anxiety is so bad much worse since starting the sertraline! I’m
Really struggling to even get out of bed in a morning! I also have no appetite at all! Is this normal? Since I’v started taking sertraline I really feel like I’ve gone down hill.

I'm afraid so! If it's any comfort i am in the same boat!

Lottie124 · 21/06/2020 14:15

So you feel it’s helping you at all so far? X

Not so far! But I took it before and I recall it was around week 3 I started to have the odd patch of feeling better...

Purplecatshopaholic · 21/06/2020 14:52

Stick with it would be my advice. I found the first 2 - 3 weeks really brutal, but then it kicked in and it has really changed my life - I am so much better now

Lottie124 · 21/06/2020 15:00

Thank you for all reply’s, fingers crossed this week sees an improvement! I can deal with everything else it’s just the anxiety I’ve never experienced anything like it it’s horrible x

Yeah I'd describe how I feel as panic rather than 'just' anxiety

Lottie124 · 21/06/2020 15:06

Yeah that’s how I feel! Are you sticking with it? I feel worse as I have no appetite xx

Me too, totally lost interest in food. Are you on them for anxiety or depression or both? Do you have to work?

Lottie124 · 21/06/2020 15:11

Both really, I’m off on the sick at the min I’m due bak on the 29th so I’m hoping for an improvement in the next week! Good to know I’m not alone through this,if you wanna chat let me no mite help us. Abit x

Ditto, it feels like a lonely place sometimes especially if your friends etc haven't been through it so can't understand.

Lottie124 · 21/06/2020 15:48

Defo it’s so hard, I always wonder of what I’m going through is normal or if the medication isn’t working, I worry all the time, this is my problem! I just wish anxiety would do one

OP posts:
Umbongo1 · 21/06/2020 15:49

I know what you mean. It is totally normal though, and I'm like you worrying what if the drugs don't work and I'm stuck like this forever....

Lottie124 · 21/06/2020 15:51

Eee what we like! How long have you been taking sertraline?

OP posts:
Umbongo1 · 21/06/2020 16:57

About 2.5 weeks, on 100mg for the last few days Confused

Lottie124 · 21/06/2020 16:59

It’s coming up to two weeks for me, I swapped from citalopram so they said it may not take as long to build up in my system, but not much luck so far

OP posts:
Umbongo1 · 21/06/2020 17:11

Are you on 50? I couldn't take citalopram why did you swap

Lottie124 · 21/06/2020 17:12

50mg yeah, I took citalopram for 10 year it’s just seem to stop working! So doc suggested to swap to sertraline! I don’t expect it to be this bad the change over!

I found it really really hard to get on it (it was much worse than Prozac). Think things started to improve by week 3, but it was pretty horrendous getting there. It made me very nauseous too, although once I started having half the dose in the morning and the other half in the evening that improved.

Lottie124 · 21/06/2020 18:04

Did you also loose your appetite? When did it come bak?

OP posts:
Umbongo1 · 21/06/2020 18:24

I've just mainly been trying to eat high calorie stuff little and often. Sometimes by the evening I can eat more. I think the lack of appetite is part of the high anxiety/panic thing.

Lottie124 · 21/06/2020 18:37

Yeah I think you could be right, it is a symptom lack of appetite? Are you having to work? I have a two year old too look after to, so we ate spending a lot of time at grandparents at the min getting the help x

Ironically I've been on holiday the past fortnight (some holiday!!) but I'm going to take some time off until I feel well enough to work again.

Really hope it starts to work soon I'm finding everything difficult even going into shops etc!

Umbongo1 · 21/06/2020 19:07

Oh and yes I have a 3 year old. I don't know how (if?!?) I would cope with her if it wasn't for my husband and wiser family rallying around. Feeling a bit useless.

Lottie124 · 21/06/2020 19:20

I feel exactly the same! My fiancé was off last week so that was a help! The doc have me some diazepam to help woth the anxiety side effects! I’m really hoping it works soon too. It’s just awfull! I have a sick note till 29th I don’t really want to be off any longer c

I’ve been taking 25mg for a week now. My gp said to ease in and start the full 50mg after two weeks. So far I’ve only been aware of a bit of nausea in the morning before I have eaten. Not looking forward to things getting worse before they get better.
