I find the anticipation of the coming week hard on my mental health. I'm going to guess that others do too.

Whatever you are facing, you do have the strength. Even if you don't feel it yet.

I can do it, you can do it, we can all do it!

Come and share words of encouragement and your Monday aims.

I'm going imagine I have a team of enthusiastic cheerleaders behind me all day. Backing up every positive decision I make.

Nobody else? I'll just have to do it for myself. So far my cheer team have cheered me on for the following:

Making this thread.

Going back to bed for an extra 10 mins

Ironing my top rather than shoving it on.

And I'm generally cheering for myslef because I get to wear warm boots today.

I'm up and I'm going to shower. This is a win, because it means I'm not hiding in bed until the last minute. I'm lecturing 120 first years in a couple of hours and shall mask like anything. (Also, I will be one of your enthusiastic cheerleaders! We can do this)

HouseOfPants · 24/09/2018 08:00

Morning. Go you! It sounds like you've made a good start.

I've got both children off nursery again,so my plans are hot wash children's bedding, strip & change our bed.
Hoping to get a meal prepped and into the slow cooker.
First thing is shower and get dressed, far too easy to just slob in pj's when I've got nowhere to go.

erinaceus · 24/09/2018 08:05

I like this thread!

I've got a challenging week ahead. Today is okay, but Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are action-packed, and not always in an easy way.

Friday should be okay too.

I am taking it one day at a time, and today looks doable.

Cheering all of you on!

nomoreusernamesfree · 24/09/2018 08:06

Yes! We can do this. I get anticipatory anxiety so I feel - great when I'm in work I'll feel better !
Let's make this a good day :)

MrsKCastle · 24/09/2018 08:07

Thank you! Just seeing your thread title made me smile on my way to work.

You're right- we can do this! One hour at a time.

WingsofNylon · 24/09/2018 09:18

Dljlr well done! I have loads of admiration for people who can teach to such a large group.

I'm in work and just ploughed through a pile of proofing that I have been putting off. It only took 15 minutes, why did I ever put it off?!

OP posts:
WingsofNylon · 24/09/2018 09:33

house are you up and dressed? Is that slow cooker going?

OP posts:
GrasswillbeGreener · 24/09/2018 10:04

I'm a bit behind but reminding myself that I've done a whole lot of washing up, had a proper breakfast, made an urgent dental appointment for this afternoon (ugh!), and had a call back from a plumber about fixing our bathroom and made a time to deal with him.

I had a long and busy day yesterday and needed to allow myself to take it easy this morning.

So now to get dressed and then sit down with my new notebooks and make my lists of things that need to be done.

Procrastination is often my worst problem - well done Wings on clearing your proofing pile!

HouseOfPants · 24/09/2018 10:26

Something satisfying about jobs that you've put off that then don't take long-so well done!

Yup slow cooker on,I'm up dressed and have even put my hair up properly. All beds stripped and I decided to remake them straight away, otherwise I'd do it later but get stressy over it. Baby just gone down for a nap sitting with a quick cuppa, toddler asking me to help build a track so I'll help with that in a mo.

Hope everyone else that contributed to the thread after I posted days are going well so far? Still feeling positive?

Grass I get the needing a slow day to recover, hope your appointment goes well later!

WingsofNylon · 24/09/2018 11:11

Erin good idea to take it one day at a time. Is there any prepping you can do today to make the middle of the week go better?

I am really enjoying the cheerleaders concept. They cheered for me as I made a connection in some data that others missed.

OP posts:
WingsofNylon · 24/09/2018 11:12

nomore we sure can! How's today been for you so far?

OP posts:
erinaceus · 24/09/2018 11:34

@Wingsofnylon That's a good idea! I will try to plan out my meals for the coming days and get some snacks in. And also - and this might sound daft - plan out what I am going to wear and what I need for each day, a bit like a kid in school.

Then I can breeze through the week, busy as it is. (Ha! Unlikely! But he preparation might help a bit.)

WingsofNylon · 24/09/2018 13:48

MrsK reading your post made me smile. Glad to know I added some brightness to your day.

Grass how was the dentist. It sounds like you already got a lot done today. Good job!

OP posts:
GrasswillbeGreener · 24/09/2018 16:48

Well I survived the dentist ... temporary fix but will need referring to have a wisdom tooth taken out :( But hopefully it will be ok to eat on for now! Just put two jumpers in to soak in a new stain remover I found last week - old grease marks from cooking without an apron on ... If it helps I then have a couple of other things I'll treat the same way! I've got a choir rehearsal to go to this evening which will be good. Must do some more work on writing my lists ... erinaceous good luck with the planning. Hope it helps!

Dljlr · 24/09/2018 18:06

I just got home. Wasn't too bad. I'm like a pp really - the pre-anxiety is always worse than the doing. Thank you for this thread, it did give me a bit of a boost this morning when I was feeling very low. Well done all for getting through another Monday Wine

nomoreusernamesfree · 24/09/2018 18:55

I had a tough day but that's because I was busy and Im tired

WingsofNylon · 24/09/2018 19:19

@erinaceus I don't think that is daft or childish. One of the most together people I know who is a high flying project manger told me she plans all her outfits for the week on a Sunday so that her mornings are that bit easier.

OP posts:
WingsofNylon · 24/09/2018 19:29

A big well done to each of us! We made it through. What last few positive steps are you going to do this evening to round off the day? I'm going to pluck my eyebrows.

Monday done. Goodnight all. Thanks for being my motivation.

We can do this.

OP posts:
erinaceus · 25/09/2018 05:25

I'm gonna need some cheerleading for Tuesday. It's nothing drastic, just work headaches, but I'm on the mend from some disabling MH stuff and find that I am much less "resilient" in the workplace at the moment. It is also quite a long day as I am out for dinner this evening, which is lovely, but tiring too. Thanks for starting this thread, it was a good idea.

WingsofNylon · 25/09/2018 06:34

Cheering away for you, albeit quietly as it is still really early. You have already done something positive for yourself by coming on here and asking for support. That's a grand way to start your day. Go you.

So what's your next play for me to cheer?

I must admit I woke up this morning and thought 'oh no, I have to do it all over again' but it's not that at all. It's a whole new day of possibilities, more chances to build up the positives.

Providing it's not raining I am going for a lunch time walk, braving asking my boss something I know I won't like the answer too, and I'm washing my hair this morning.

OP posts:
erinaceus · 25/09/2018 07:28

I'm a morning person hence early posting. I can totally relate to the "on no I have to do it all again" thoughts upon waking. Fortunately for me a decent coffee tends to shut those thoughts up and make the washing+dressing part of the morning possible. I've never really understood why coffee works as well as it does for me for this, but at least it has the side-effect of being a coping strategy that looks like a normal morning routine...lunch time walk is a good idea. Good luck with the hair washing and asking your boss.
