I find the anticipation of the coming week hard on my mental health. I'm going to guess that others do too.

Whatever you are facing, you do have the strength. Even if you don't feel it yet.

I can do it, you can do it, we can all do it!

Come and share words of encouragement and your Monday aims.

I'm going imagine I have a team of enthusiastic cheerleaders behind me all day. Backing up every positive decision I make.

Cheering you all on. I'm struggling at the moment. I'm between jobs, I have no start date for the new one and I've ended my other one, I could should do some shifts on the bank whilst i wait for my start date but I'm so nervous about going to a new area, and i keep talking myself out of it.

I'm going from nights to days in my new job and I'm nervous because I hate getting up in the morning but everyone else does it I can't really explain it. I've gone to work at 8pm for the last 5 years it's scaring me to think about days but I need to do it because if I don't then my new job will be a shock to the system.

So some cheering to book some short 8 hour shifts would be nice please x

Im failing massively. 4th week off with mental health. Waiting to start my new job. Refurbishing my house and sorting my dd. This thread has given me a kick up the arse to get dressed today. First task walk to school with a mum who is befriending me. I can do this

WingsofNylon · 25/09/2018 09:30

tictac86 II hear you. Seems like you have a lot on. But don't see those as failures. Time off for MH = good that you recognised it was needed and are getting the time. New job = massive success to have beaten another applicants. Congratulations. House = looking after your environment will help your mental health.

I think I'm coming across as annoying. I am not normally one to turn people's worries into positives. I'm more of a fan of validation but your list just seemed like quite a strong one to me.

Loving it. Had a coffee with the mum then went shopping. Success in my eyes

WingsofNylon · 25/09/2018 13:45

newyoiker do you have a plan for transitioning? Slowly moving your sleep patterns by 2 hours or so? What triggered the move of shifts?

OP posts:
NewYoiker · 25/09/2018 14:52

The nights were defecting my mental health ironically! I can't join any clubs or anything when I'm on nights and I'm a bit lonely

erinaceus · 25/09/2018 17:11

Hats off to you for doing night shifts, and good luck with the transition.

I survived today at work, even managed to actually do some work today. Tomorrow I have got another hectic day. I'm meeting a friend this evening, trying to forget about the stress for a few hours.

nomoreusernamesfree · 25/09/2018 22:38

Hi everyone. What a great thread.
I am three weeks into a new job and am still anxious before I go and nervous at times when I'm there. I'm looking after myself as much as possible.
I'm sitting in bed - I went out fir evening to a dance 💃🏻 hobby but don't want to get too tired .

erinaceus · 26/09/2018 06:22

Hey @nomoreusernamesfree, what type of dance do you do?

I had a good time with my friend last night.

I've got three challenging things going on today, am currently in bed caffeinating myself in preparation for the first one and trying not to think too far ahead!

WingsofNylon · 26/09/2018 07:28

Good morning all. I will be cheering away for you all today.

I'm in a bit of a rush so will post later.

Thanks Wings. One thing down, two to go! Cheering you all on, wherever you are.

erinaceus · 27/09/2018 07:04

I made it through yesterday. Today is okay, still a bit nuts, and I can relax tomorrow.

Go team!

WingsofNylon · 27/09/2018 07:38

Erin, yay. Well done. My week has gone pretty well. Some annoying moments such as having my car broken into but lots of high points too.

I'm also ready for work a little early so enjoying a pre-day sit down.

WingsofNylon · 27/09/2018 07:40

@Dljlr and @HouseOfPants how are you both getting on?

OP posts:
WingsofNylon · 27/09/2018 07:41

nomore I am terrible at dancing but really enjoy it. Have yet to find a class or club where people aren't amazing even in the beginner sessions.

OP posts:
HouseOfPants · 27/09/2018 09:08

Thanks for asking,Not great tbh, hadn't realised just how beneficial the nursery routine is to me.

Being stuck in the house definitely isn't doing my mood any favours, but I'm managing to get up and dressed, todays plan is rewash bedding and bake a cake-hopefully I'll manage a walk once dh is home to at least get out!

WingsofNylon · 27/09/2018 21:37

Did you make your cake? May we have a pic? I spent a long time on a job application today and it still isn't finished. But it is close.

nomoreusernamesfree · 30/09/2018 00:26

I just wanted to comment that I had a really good week - the anxiety doesn't mean that things won't go well - we can do this.

erinaceus · 30/09/2018 05:31

My week was okay - I survived it! I'm going to need this thread next week though as that is also going to be a bit intense.

erinaceus · 01/10/2018 05:30

Morning Folks! I've got another nuts week ahead with lots going on. Keeping my cool is always challenging when I don't have that much time to myself. I'm going to try to carve out a little bit of time each day for myself somehow and hang on for the rest of it.

Good luck this week all.

cementpointing · 01/10/2018 07:13

Morning, i'm new to MH.

Today is my 1st day at work while taking sertraline. My team leader knows but my manager doesn't (team leader will probably have told him by now).

I've had dreadful sleep since i started on friday morning so terrified about the 60 minute drive and then the same back but i'm going to take it slow!

Happy work week people!

WingsofNylon · 01/10/2018 19:24

Hello Erin hello nomore welcome to our new week. How was this Monday for you?

I made it into work early and held my own in a meeting with a company director. However I and a bit of a hair dye malfunction last night so had to do the meeting with bad hair.

Still,as always the anticipation was worse than reality.

WingsofNylon · 01/10/2018 19:26

@cementpointing, welcome to the Monday survivors club. Are you having strong side effects? They can be brutal but do pass for most people.

OP posts:
NewYoiker · 01/10/2018 21:38

I've done it.. it took me a few days but tomorrow I'll be starting work at 8am until 6pm I'm absolutely bricking it and fighting every urge to cancel but this will be the start of a new me

nomoreusernamesfree · 01/10/2018 22:49

Hi - today was ok. Yesterday not as tense and anxious as before but still anxious . But as I actually enjoy the work more in my new job it helps a bit .
