I have a secret passion for early music which probably marks me out as a total geek. I use spotify to satisfy my eclectic music needs. Most recently listened to was early PJ Harvey.

Ennn · 07/02/2015 20:47

I bought DP a Spotify premium sub one year on which he discovered lots of nazi kitten music shouty euro electronica like Blutengel to annoy me with buy and enjoy on CD, but at the moment am using a three month Deezer premium plus subscription that I got free from a telegraph offer. Didn't buy the telegraph obvs., got the link off HUKD after my last free telegraph Deezer sub that I got off a link from HUKD expired Grin

Caulk, what happened to Scottish Island flatshare the first time she heard Other Music? Did she struggle to find the musicality in it because the differences to her preexisting musical contextual environment were so great or did it blow her fucking mind with awesomeness?

I don't know, but it wasn't just music it was tv as well. And the radio too. She just hadn't heard or seen anything like it before!

She doesn't listen to much music, mainly podcasts but I don't knit if that's why.

Ennn · 07/02/2015 21:02

That's really interesting Caulky. It must have been strange coming across all that stuff for the first time later in life.

How are you doing today?

OP posts:
UpOnDown · 07/02/2015 21:06

yes, how are you doing caulky?

CaulkheadUpNorth · 07/02/2015 21:10

I think she knew it existed, maybe a friend had telly but she had never seen or heard it or anything. Her dad was a stay at home parent whilst mum worked and that is the thing which she will talk about now as being weird. Both parents have the same professional lob but they moved up there for mums work.

I'm ok, knitting leg warmers and wondering where all my lovely housemates are currently.

HellinaHandbasket · 07/02/2015 21:25

How are things with good housemate gone bad? Is she still being a bitch?

CaulkheadUpNorth · 07/02/2015 21:29

She had a week when I was first signed off when she was very very lovely, came with me to appts, sat up at night when I was upset, that sort of thing.
Then she went to stay with her parents, and is now abroad with family, so I don't know how things will be when she comes back in a week.

DavidTennantsBeard · 07/02/2015 21:34

I am another R4 listener, i find speech radio more soothing than music. When I am being mentally abnormal, music, even music I normally like, can make me very agitated and upset. I loved the recent Women's Hour adaptation of The Corrections. I was brought up on The Archers since birth and they are like family really :) when I can't sleep sometimes I can drift off listening to the radio and gradually I start to dream that the radio is saying all sorts of strange things

Millie2013 · 07/02/2015 21:34

Is that the "gardening leave" one?

Millie2013 · 07/02/2015 21:34

(Caulk)

DavidTennantsBeard · 07/02/2015 21:35

Caulk I'm jealous of your knitting expertise as knitting has always baffled me :) do you take commissions? X

CaulkheadUpNorth · 07/02/2015 21:36

I'm not here as I'm watching casualty but thanks for hugs, yes it's gardening leave friend and yes I take commissions.

Ennn · 07/02/2015 21:40

WHY did I eat another two boxes of isomalt spice?

OP posts:
HellinaHandbasket · 07/02/2015 21:48

I ate half a jar of pickled onions Envy

Ennn · 07/02/2015 21:49

Guess we're probably both sleeping alone tonight - me with the guttiwuts, you with the onionbreath Confused

OP posts:
HellinaHandbasket · 07/02/2015 21:57

Never thought of the onion breath as I was scarfing them out of the jar with a teaspoon. Poor DP.

Ennn · 07/02/2015 21:59

Ah she'll have smelt worse breath than that come to think of it.

Very true but who likes to bring work home with them?

Ennn · 07/02/2015 22:03

i have a pomelo. The guy at the market saw me looking at them and lowered the price/chucked in free red pears until I couldn't say no.

I'm lusting after it bt am waiting to test my BG after eating some rice ShockShockShock to see how it affects t (it will be awful but DP fondly imagines I have cured my iatrogenic diabetes thru weightloss so I'm humouring him)

OP posts:
Ennn · 07/02/2015 22:05

Last Thurday this was but the pomelo has only started calling to me now.

OP posts:
UpOnDown · 07/02/2015 22:06

Pickled onions are worth it

HellinaHandbasket · 07/02/2015 22:06

Ohh pomelo is lovely. I miss grapefruit a lot. I make up for it by eating my own body weight in blueberries every week.

HellinaHandbasket · 07/02/2015 22:06

They were balsamic onions Up, extra tasty.
