Apologise for the multiple texts (blame your phone), then maybe ask for a face to face chat. So much is lost in the written word and this needs to be addressed, for you to be able to do your job, if nothing else

PollyPooic · 09/02/2015 18:52

uhhh can you style it out and after apologising say you were being lighthearted, trying to break the ice and you do need her input on topic x

toothypeg · 09/02/2015 18:54

Both good ideas, thanks. Must remember that next time she texts me about anything (which she probably won't) I must reply three times.

toothypeg · 09/02/2015 18:56

I asked though if she fancied a coffee this afternoon. She said no she didn't.

PollyPooic · 09/02/2015 18:57

she didn't reply because she was either busy or thinking 'what the FUCK'

you can ask her 'when will you have a spare minute to discuss 'specific work thing' but maybe not out of office hours unless you are usually in touch about work stuff then?

HellinaHandbasket · 09/02/2015 18:58

Oh tooth, I have no advice, not having been in such a position but I feel for you. I had a consultant once who hated me but we weren't on texting terms!

CaulkheadUpNorth · 09/02/2015 18:59

I have been in her position tp stop texting her. Please.

Millie2013 · 09/02/2015 18:59

Might she just not have fancied a coffee? I often refuse drinks/lunch offers at work if I'm too busy/just don't fancy it

toothypeg · 09/02/2015 19:01

Am not going to text her again. Ever. Ever.

HellinaHandbasket · 09/02/2015 19:04

I think that might be for the best!

It's so easy to get paranoid about things and modern technology is not our friend in these instances.

hugs

you can use this thread as your text outlet or the samaritans texting number if it has to be SMS

you'll survive this, we've all done something cringeworthy - I told a horse to fuck OFF today quite forcefully while flicking a head collar in his face and his owner was right behind me Blush

he is so annoying though, always blocking the gate, even the other horses hate him

PollyPooic · 09/02/2015 19:11

I have the thrilling prospect of spending the coming days distracting myself while the medial head of my gastroc heals

have joined a gym closer to home as the hour + round trip to David Lloyd is a bit depressing, plus it's just wanky there let's face it, plus I'll get a free go of a new personal trainer there and will hopefully end up with the upper body of uh some incredibly strong woman

PollyPooic · 09/02/2015 19:11

I will lose my running powers though

HellinaHandbasket · 09/02/2015 19:12

How long do you have to quit running for Polly?

PollyPooic · 09/02/2015 19:16

I don't know how long it will take but when I can do 25 seated calf raises without pain I move on to the single leg standing calf raise, need to be able to do 25 of those and then I can go for walks, then run/walk intervals and then when that seems trouble free I can just do normal running again

I hope it doesn't take ages

last time it took months, but last time I never really stopped running, I thought I had but I was still doing about ten miles a week which doesn't sound a lot but I think it held me back

PollyPooic · 09/02/2015 19:16

the main thing is not to have any kind of mental breakdown

HellinaHandbasket · 09/02/2015 19:20

A mental breakdown would not be good. Channel your energies into the gym instead. Can you row with your injury?

DavidTennantsBeard · 09/02/2015 19:21

Blimey Polly what is. Medial head gasket thingy isn't that a car prt?

My lovely GP just rang ( so they do work long hours) and I may have disgraced myself by bursting into tears on phone. Increased meds and another weeks sick note. So you are stuck with me for now :)

DavidTennantsBeard · 09/02/2015 19:23

Perhaps the AA should branch out into mental breakdown services...it's probably only a matter of time under current govt...they could just fit their vans out with a nice cosy padded interior...

Millie2013 · 09/02/2015 19:24

Polly, I hate my friend's horse, it doesn't have one redeeming feature (and I love horses). It's just an evil, bargy git. My mare is so polite and lovely in comparison

Millie2013 · 09/02/2015 19:25

Haha, David
DD is asleep, remind me what normal people do of an evening...

PollyPooic · 09/02/2015 19:25

I'll have a little go tomorrow, the rowing machine really helped to keep up my endurance last time - it's quite similar to running really, dull repetitive, it really suits me Grin and conveniently I row 5 or 10k in about the same time as I would run them so can almost stick to a running plan

it is a BIT calfy though, physio said 'now is not the time' but we'll see

last time this happened I went to belly dancing classes and learned how to crochet (just chains, nothing advanced or useful)

running is quite time consuming, I think I spend between 5 and 7 hours a week just doing running and then all the running related activity - thinking about running, talking about running, reading about running

so I need a new temporary hobby

PollyPooic · 09/02/2015 19:27

#1 broke down today and called to tell me in case I was nearby and I asked 'mentally or vehicularly' but luckily was just the cam belt
