The access course is designed for people who haven't got up to date qualifications, or perhaps any (my local college says that you can retake maths and english gcses alongside the access course). Then the universities look at your achievements in the access course (afaik). Sorry, I only know health and sciences.

Enpoid · 31/01/2015 18:16

Mmm, I just wondered whether the admissions people would look at my lowly double cee and be less impressed than if I'd just left it off the list altogether Grin

I guess I've got some time to decide. Or I could do both. Wink

No idea if I took my second antidepressant today or not. Trying to decide whether to take one now anyway. Any opinions?

Take it

SnowyMouse · 31/01/2015 18:20

They care about what you've achieved in the past 5 years (as long as you have maths and english). Someone I know got poor gcses, and did a btec to get into uni.

Enpoid · 31/01/2015 18:22

Ah good.

Have Maths and English (old version, not this new English Language thing), luckily. Rah.

How the fuck do they differentiate for a class of students who will have such varying entry points for the material?

SnowyMouse · 31/01/2015 18:37

Good question

Mentalpsychiatrist · 31/01/2015 18:43

I wish I could help but I know nothing about access courses and university admissions. What I so know though is that you should do something that makes your heart sing.

Out of the bath and finally thawed and clean. I can smell a chicken roasting which must be in the top 5 best smells.

Roast chicken with blue cheese, pear and walnut salad Grin

SnowyMouse · 31/01/2015 18:50

I'm also jealous. No food in the house til tomorrow.

Mentalpsychiatrist · 31/01/2015 18:52

What are you going to eat for supper snowy?

I'm allowed a glass of wine tonight which pleases me greatly. Two pounds lost this week.

Slightly less jealous now.

Blue cheese - horrible and might kill me
Walnuts - make my mouth itch and throat swell Hmm
Wine - foul, and also might kill me Grin

I'm sticking with my nice healthy deep-fried samosas.

Kudos on the 2lb weight loss!

I do love history, Chap. Also, you're in Surrey, right? I could come and pick your brains about early C20 German politics in person Grin

There isn't anything. I could ask them to make porridge when they come, but they'll think that's odd.

Well done on the weight loss, enjoy the wine.

Mentalpsychiatrist · 31/01/2015 19:00

Forgot about the phenelzine Enpo, my dinner is very MAOI unfriendly.

I don't think porridge is an odder dinner than the alternative, which is nothing.

CaulkheadUpNorth · 31/01/2015 19:04

My dinner is often yoghurt. Porridge is fine. You can even say I know it's odd but I would like porridge for tea"

Good points. I don't want them thinking I'm mentally abnormal.
