yum sounds like vimto

if lithium makes people fat I bet it's through the evil mechanism of making you want sweet sticky drinks instead of water

although my favourite is Tesco cheapest lemon squash with nasty sweeteners, I think about all through my longer runs

OP posts:
Mitchy1nge · 13/11/2014 22:14

did you find a tv you liked?

OP posts:
EnpoTree · 13/11/2014 22:17

Vimto is surprisingly popular as a seasonal Ramadan drink in many Islamic countries.

I like Robinson's double concentrated NAS lemon squash (the slight bitterness of it masks the sweeteners to some extent) with fizzy water (can't use tap water here with squash unless you enjoy a thick white scum on your drinks). A bit like bitter lemon.

I only drink squash with artificial sweeteners but I really should cut down on sweetener use as it's not good for weight loss.

All the nice TVs were 55"-60" and 4K. I wish I hadn't seen them as I can nowhere near afford them Grin

There are TVs on the Curry's website that are the right size and within budget but they didn't have any actually in the shop. Only fancy brands and ranges. The TVs they did have, of the size I want, are at least £200 too much.

But DP has at least got over his hatred of LCD technology now they're using better backlighting methods that bring blacks closer to what you get on a plasma screen.

EnpoTree · 13/11/2014 22:23

So it wasn't a wasted trip as DP is at least reassured that an LED LCD will be okay and we don't have to restrict ourselves to plasma.

Also I have been informed that we have enough money in the TV savings account to actually pay for the thing, so it's just a matter of picking one. I'm sure there will be a spreadsheet. There was last time.

Mitchy1nge · 13/11/2014 22:31

wow tvs are huuuuuuuuuuuuge and expensive now

feel like a visitor from The Olden Days sometimes

OP posts:
Mitchy1nge · 13/11/2014 22:34

plasma tvs always look so dull and grainy, prefer the brightness of LCD

will you get one of those bendy ones?

OP posts:
EnpoTree · 13/11/2014 22:40

If I am accosted in the street and forced to accept large sums of money between now and when we buy the TV, yes.

DP and I both preferred the look of plasma to LCD when we bought the last set. Now I think LCD has made up for where it was lagging behind plasma, and stayed ahead where it was ahead. Plasma is almost dead.

EnpoTree · 13/11/2014 22:43

When I said 4K, BTW, I meant the resolution, not the price. I think you can get a 4K TV for under a grand.

EnpoTree · 13/11/2014 22:44

Pretty sure now that theres a depression coming.

EnpoTree · 13/11/2014 22:50

Anyone else struggling to keep the house warm enough?

Mitchy1nge · 13/11/2014 22:53

ooohh resolution

the ex mr mitchy (not actual husband) spends that kind of money on tvs, or more I think

had a little portable thing until he started hanging out at mine and complaining about watching it through binoculars

impending depression is an awful feeling (which I mercifully forget about it) I hope the care co-ordinator has some ideas and plans for averting it entirely or at least alleviating its worse symptoms - how long does it usually go on for?

Oh god it goes on forever. This bit with the collapsing in tears at every little thing and extreme anxiety comes first, then the depression beds in and I stop feeling anything much, which is a relief at first. Then everything seizes up and it's all just unrelenting horror for the rest of time (or so it seems). I'm not sure of my pattern as my memory tends to stop working properly and I haven't had a proper attack for years and years.

EnpoTree · 13/11/2014 22:59

Was stable unmedicated for a few years, and stable on phenelzine and lamotrigine before that, and everything before that is a blur of illness and psych drugs. But I remember what it feels like when the depression is coming.

EnpoTree · 13/11/2014 23:00

My central heating does its best, bless it.

EnpoTree · 13/11/2014 23:02

I generally like to keep up with the current state of affairs in gadgetry. Haven't been reading the technology news for a few months though so I'm a bit out of date. I may still be a bit of an A/V bore, though Grin

Mitchy1nge · 13/11/2014 23:08

hope they will have ideas about how to treat the depression, forever sounds a bit too long to feel that awful

apart from the thrill of care coordinator is there anything else to look forward to tomorrow? I have my long run with less experienced friend and am a bit anxious about the route I've planned (too far? Too undulating? Not far enough? Can I cope with the physical effort of taking a drink with me to try out my free beetroot shots?) then helping someone move their pony to come and live with ours - could use some sleep

OP posts:
EnpoTree · 13/11/2014 23:12

I have a review booked at the gym with the trainer. Will ask what to do about shitty ankle. And also it's weighing and fasting blood glucose day. And the roof is being fixed (I hope).

EnpoTree · 13/11/2014 23:14

Free beetroot shots?

Hope you enjoy the run tomorrow.

I know I just need phenelzine but the psychiatrist doesn't seem keen. Perhaps I'm not depressed enough yet Hmm

Good luck with moving the horse, and hope you sleep well.

Mitchy1nge · 13/11/2014 23:16

forgot about ankle, you really wrenched it didn't you Confused

has gym got one of those arm bike things? Haven't seen one in new gym, old one had one, but haven't used any machines yet apart from walking on treadmill while trainer looks at my feet and pulls faces

OP posts:
EnpoTree · 13/11/2014 23:18

Oh, the looking-at-feet-face-pulling. I know it well.

No arm-bike sadly. I should be able to manage a short time on the ordinary stationary bikes if I strap it well though. It's just turned out to be a mild strain and should be healed in a couple of weeks IF I treat it gently. Stupid ankles.

EnpoTree · 13/11/2014 23:21

Aren't you concerned about whether the horses will get on? Intros are always fraught when it comes to the animals I'm most familiar with (small furries).

Mitchy1nge · 13/11/2014 23:22

thank you! as ever the chatting of shit with you brings me joy

thinking of infinity too (and mp on her holiday)

(beet shots local company sponsor my running club, will try in case need extra fuel for half marathon but best to use them a few times before, am good at gargling spew on the run)
