I quite like reptiles but I've never owned one - the whole diet, heat lamps, vivarium thing seems totally daunting. But I do love looking at them in pet shops etc. and have met some lovely animals owned by friends etc.

Are geckos particularly easy or hard to keep?

EnpoTree · 13/11/2014 15:36

I took a letter round to next door that the postie accidentally delivered here, and had an altercation with their (indoor) cat Grin

Their letterbox is awful - very heavily sprung flap and stiff unyielding brushes. Almost impossible to push a thin, wobbly letter through without crumpling it to buggery and/or having one's fingers bitten off by the flap. And then a paw comes batting out, claws unsheathed, wanting to play...

EnpoTree · 13/11/2014 15:38

And my TV has just decided to go bonkers, turning itself on and off. DP is investigating our complex AV system to try and isolate the problem, but it looks like I may need a new TV. Bugger.

EnpoTree · 13/11/2014 16:17

It's actually not switching itself on and off, it's constantly switching channels. Engineer says it's the matrix Hmm

is your tv possessed?

Mitchy1nge · 13/11/2014 17:08

I had a tarantula that might have been similar in terms of care to a reptile, more similar than cats dogs horses anyway. He was called Otto and was a 'zebra knee'

OP posts:
InfinitySeven · 13/11/2014 17:15

TV sounds creepy!

I'm an arachnophobic, badly, so I don't know that much about tarantula care!

Gecko had a 5 ft viv, various heat lamps and heat mats, and more belongings then he could possibly need. House is also full of various medications that I've bought him since he started going downhill in September.

DP is on his way home. Have warned him that I'm no happier.

He still wants to go and see his parents for the weekend. I'll be fair, that was the plan. We were going to go and do viewings up there. But right now, I don't feel well enough to deal with his parents, or viewings. And if I'm honest, at this second, I don't want to move. There is nothing wrong with his parents, as such, they'll be welcoming as they always are, but they'll ask about the gecko and he's the only thing we talk about, really. I find them quite hard work. They try to overrule me and I haven't mastered rising above it.

Head is still pounding. Am trying a wet flannel.

I need to write shorter posts!

Mitchy1nge · 13/11/2014 17:30

I was a lifelong arachnophobe! but after I did the friendly spider course at the zoo I became very interested in spiders, logical really because I love and am fascinated by all other animals so once the fear had been dismantled

prior to the course it was one of my more limiting phobias, and I dropped a baby mitchy one day when I felt a nip and discovered a giant house spider spread across my collarbone (think he had got tangled in my hair when I brushed past some ivy on the way in to the house) lucky mitchy jr landed on a soft rug Confused it wasn't on purpose, just a reflex

but had also done the whole stripping off and running outside naked (one ran up my sleeve when I moved the shower curtain one day) and dragging STRANGE MEN in to the house to take a spider outside for me

I was generally of the 'freeze and stare at it' people so couldn't go to bed if there was ever one anywhere in the house, the fear of it disappearing and not knowing where it was seemed even worse than watching it and waiting for it to move

sadly though with the fear has gone my ability to see them instantly, even in the dark, anywhere I am but is probably less tiring not having to scan the environment for them continuously

Mitchy1nge · 13/11/2014 17:32

anyway can recommend the course Grin

mitchy jr #3 has also done it, miraculously 1 and 2 didn't learn my phobia from me and have always been fond of spiders and able to put them safely outside

InfinitySeven · 13/11/2014 17:50

That's impressive :)

I had intense phobia therapy on the NHS as a child but it didn't work. I haven't tried anything since.

I need to cook. I don't want too. I don't want to do anything. Maybe sleep, to pass the time?

Mitchy1nge · 13/11/2014 17:52

have you managed to eat anything today?

Oh god have just escaped Curry's and TK Maxx hell

EnpoTree · 13/11/2014 20:28

Went to look at tellies, bought a hat that makes me look like DP's great grandma (according to him). Now tired and wanting to sleep but DP insisting I ingest sustenance.

EnpoTree · 13/11/2014 20:29

I think maybe sleep is what you need most Infinity. Could you eat/drink something easy and then get some rest?

EnpoTree · 13/11/2014 20:56

If you're tired, I mean.

I dunno.

Mitchy1nge · 13/11/2014 21:43

as usual can hardly wait to get to bed

but here is a small present for you all before I go - made me laugh anyway

OP posts:
EnpoTree · 13/11/2014 21:48

Genius.

I'm off to bed too. It's cold, I'm tired, and my TV is broken. Night all.

EnpoTree · 13/11/2014 22:02

Fucksake what the fuck is wrong with me. Just tipped neat squash all over the coffee/dining/everything gets put there table. All over bloody everything. I'm so fed up of being a useless fucking twat and just bursting into tears like a fuckwit while DP runs around getting paper napkins and sorting out all the shit I've wrecked by being fucking clumsy. Shit. And he offered me a hug which I can't cope with when I'm upset so now I've rejected DP when he's so lovely and hurt his feelings. I am such a shit.

Mitchy1nge · 13/11/2014 22:02

it's not broken it's possessed

you need to stand firm 'the power of Christ COMPELS you'

EnpoTree · 13/11/2014 22:07

Sorry it's my fault for posting that indulgent self-flagellating crap.

You're right about the TV - a good dose of holy water would prevent it changing channels or indeed doing anything ever again.

Mitchy1nge · 13/11/2014 22:09

what flavour squash was it? am enjoying pink grapefruit (mouthwatering and zesty)

OP posts:
EnpoTree · 13/11/2014 22:10

Purple.

Apple and blackcurrant? Summer fruits? Something cheap and double concentrated to mix with 17p a bottle fizzy water.
