Hi, thought I might try another thread as I've missed having somewhere to offload. Thanks for all the support on the other one, I have saved it and removed certain posts so that I can look at it when I need something to focus on.

I went to the meeting with the manager of the Crisis Team tonight and it was really difficult even though he accepted that they had got things wrong. He said I have to keep attending or they will have me assessed under the Mental Health Act. I don't really trust them though and it is going to be really hard. He suggested meeting with the nurse who I saw on Monday, and with him, to try and talk it through and come to an understanding. I don't know if that will be too much.

I go back to work on Monday, I could be signed off but it won't achieve anything.

I had the call with the therapist to assess me today, it's CBT or nothing with the NHS. I'm going to give it a go but it didn't work in the past. I'm going to do that alongside the private therapy that starts on Wednesday.

Feeling low but keeping on going.

reallystrugglinginside · 29/08/2014 16:23

Sounds like your doing well pare. Hope therapy helps you

temporaryusername · 29/08/2014 16:32

I'm very glad you're keeping going Pare, and I hope the private therapy will help. It might take some time to click with the therapist or feel it is helping, but give it a good chance and if it doesn't improve try someone else. Many people find that it takes a while to find the right therapist and can make a huge difference when you do, so don't give up. Really wishing you the best with it. See how you go at work, if you do think being signed off will help at some point then do it - your health is paramount.

YesitismePare · 29/08/2014 17:16

Thank you.

I have found someone who specialises in PTSD and she seems nice enough on the phone. I start Wednesday after school so at least I have time to digest everything. When I had therapy through Occupational Health in the past I had to go straight back to work after which was awful.

Dutchoma · 29/08/2014 17:44

Glad to see you back Pare. have been thinking about you.

YesitismePare · 29/08/2014 18:29

I'm sorry that I left people hanging, I had deleted my account and then had no access to the internet whilst in hospital.

Dutchoma · 29/08/2014 19:15

Well, you have updated us now. I'm glad. Hope the private counselling helps as well as the cbt that the NHS offer.

YesitismePare · 30/08/2014 20:10

Nasty weather here today and my mum isn't very well. Going to go to bed in a bit I think.

SilverStars · 30/08/2014 21:24

Hi, glad to hear you are ok. Hopefully between the cbt and private therapy you will feel more supported and hopefully find useful strategies/whatever you hope for out of it.

Did you get any assessment/diagnosis/ useful strategies from your time in hospital that can help you? Usually when discharged from a psychiatric hospital it is with crisis team support or some other access to help - did you get this, or was it the cbt? Did hospital help - giving you a place of safety and support. Hope so.

Hope work is ok. Private therapy is great in that can do it when suits you. I used to go after work which helped greatly and work did not need to know either!

YesitismePare · 30/08/2014 22:24

I wasn't on a psychiatric ward, I was on a medical one recovering physically. I can ring the crisis team if I need them but I want to avoid that if possible. It has been recommended I have cognitive analytical therapy but the woman who did the telephone assessment said they don't offer that so it is CBT.

alittlebitmeh · 30/08/2014 22:32

Hi Pare. Hopefully you'll get a good counsellor that can pull in other bits of therapy so your CBT is tailored a bit more to what you need. I certainly found it helpful so hope you do to. I hope work goes well. Please let them sign you off if you feel work's putting you back. Hope your mum feels better soon Thanks

YesitismePare · 30/08/2014 23:20

Thanks. I was planning an early night but she is quite ill so I think I'll be up a bit longer in case I'm needed.

YesitismePare · 31/08/2014 20:08

Feeling a little bit sick at the thought of work tomorrow. Had some diazepam and a hot bath, trying to distract now.

My mum is a bit better today but still not feeling well. I think she has vertigo. I've had it before and it is the same symptoms.

Dutchoma · 31/08/2014 21:01

That is not really surprising Pare. Six weeks is not a long time in the grand scheme of things and when you are struggling with such overwhelming issues. I'm not even talking about the death of your dog or your mother's ill health. You have a lot to cope with just looking after yourself. If you can stick a smile on and say you are feeling a lot better, thank you, it might help. Fake it till you make it, lying allowed. Once you start the counselling you might indeed feel better.

YesitismePare · 31/08/2014 21:10

My dog hasn't died.

I've bought cakes to take into work with me for the department and I'm going to plaster a smile on and be fine.

Dutchoma · 31/08/2014 21:20

Sorry, I got that wrong. Good idea: cakes.

YeGodsAndLittleFishes · 31/08/2014 21:30

Hi Pare. :) Good to see you again. Hope you settle into work well and the teaching side of it bouys you along lesson to lesson. I'm glad your counselling is after school, must have been horrendous to have to go back to work after sessions. I often feel really drained after counselling even now, so try to give myself an easy couple of hours off and also make dinner ready/easy to cook those nights. All the best for tomorrow. Sleep tight.

alittlebitmeh · 31/08/2014 22:21

Cake is always a good idea Smile I hope tomorrow goes well. Will be thinking of you.

SilverStars · 31/08/2014 23:14

Cake and a smile sounds great. Hope it is ok and summer hols has helped.

alittlebitmeh · 01/09/2014 17:49

How was your day Pare?

YesitismePare · 01/09/2014 18:05

I found it difficult but people were mostly kind. I'm very tired as I've been keeping up the act all day.

Got to do my results analysis now. I had two Y11 classes and 50 per cent got A* or A so that was good. The less said about the A Level the better!

My mum is still poorly and I can't get a GP appointment for her until Friday.

Dutchoma · 01/09/2014 18:22

That sounds quite optimistic. Sorry about your mum though.

YeGodsAndLittleFishes · 01/09/2014 19:33

50% at A/A* is excellent! For A level, the onus is on the pupils much more, so it is less of a rwfection of your teaching and more about those individuals and the difficulty of the question papers etc.

Well done you (and your classes!)

Sorry to hear that your mum is still not well. Hope that the Friday appointment helps a lot.

YesitismePare · 01/09/2014 19:37

Feeling so tired.

Think it will be okay tomorrow. No children until Weds lunch for me. This week will be okay but from Monday onwards I have Mon, Tues, Weds without a free period so that will be a challenge for this year.

alittlebitmeh · 01/09/2014 19:54

Wow Pare. That's amazing, well done. So sorry your mum is still so poorly. I hope she's feeling better soon.
