Cybergarden Open Day

Hi all.

We realised there were people on the MH threads asking what on earth the cybergarden was, and could they "join".

The short answer is, Yes, come in and have a Brew!

The cybergarden was started as a support thread for one person, and a bit of an escape from grim reality for those of us housebound one way or another. We just wanted somewhere peaceful and pleasant to relax and enjoy things we couldn't always do in real life.

It's generally a pretty positive place, although everyone needs a moan now and then. And we do lots of small, personal visualisations when the spirit moves us. It can get a bit whimsical, so if imaginary stuff makes your teeth itch we're probably not for you!

But if a large garden with companion animals and a sandpit for the children suits your needs, do come in and have a cuppa. The kettle's almost always on.

Welcome Hobs, and agree with futuredream and Nilgiri that cybergarden does become a shared experience, particularly thanks to the imagination of these two gardeners. Fairy-lights are a good idea, and I remember organising domestic help with the aid of local fairies as my dear departed DH always seemed to assume we had such help in the house overnight..... I think it was Nilgiri who introduced the Moorish fountain we can hear tinkling in the background, futuredream does actually own a cat like HF in RL with ndt (next-door's-tom) living next door, and it was upward who had the idea of a Brew which changed into whatever was one's favourite drink at the time. I can't remember who introduced the rather dim-witted beagle, but one of us does know one who trampolines and I used to have a pair
who have provided memories on down days. Do feel free to introduce such extras as time goes on; it can take one's mind off more serious matters.

Sorry to be absent for a little, have been managing some mental health thingies and just felt better to stay away. Have popped on to announce that it's time to put some bunting up as DD is officially four today, plus the queen is visiting. Not sure she is happy at having her birthday princess thunder being stolen by the queen, haha.

Got some baby guineas to pop into the run, they are tiny and fluffy and very cute, listen to them chirruping in excitement when you give them little bits of apple and strawberry. x

Welcome back, RabbitsMakeBrownEggs, with the baby guineas you were hoping for earlier. A really big day for your DD, and I'm sure she'll manage to enjoy herself who-ever else turns up - is it actually Her Majesty the Queen visiting ?

Hope we can all have a peaceful evening with restful sleep and a good day tomorrow. Goodnight all.

I forgot - big thanks to greentrees for the millionaires shortbread, use the beagle-proof tin with padlock to store it or hound will finish it off...

Can one of the walls be a hedge covered in ivy, the way I imagined the Secret Garden to be? All green and lovely? Am looking forward to peaches warm from the sun and straight off the tree in the summer!

MrsMuddyPuddles · 13/06/2012 07:50

What fruits are grown in the lower orchard? Cherries and pears and apples, I hope? Any nut trees? Are there any deer to wander under the trees, getting tipsy off over ripe fruit?

RabbitsMakeBrownEggs · 13/06/2012 08:21

She's in town, yep. Passing not too far by my house, so I might take a wander over to see her if it's not too busy.

Birthday girl has had a nice morning and gone off to nursery in her favourite outfit and a pretty hair ribbon.

I need a patch of sunshine to curl up in and sleep, they woke me up early.

Showtime · 13/06/2012 09:38

Morning all, a sunny morning here for a change. An ivy-covered wall's available if you'd like one, MrsM, just leave me a bit of hedge or fence for experimental gardening, as in RL. Have found I can outwit SlugsofDoom with various containers placed higher than normal, which might yield useful information in the future - just an idea.

Napping's encouraged in the cybergarden, as so many of us have too many chores, but time well -spent getting Birthday Girl dressed up for special day/royal visit, and hope enjoyment continues for your little one.

That's wonderful, greentrees, we've really needed help/ideas for endless slug problem, and none of the companion animals have shown any interest at all.

It's beautifully sunny here, so hope everyone else is having a good start to the day. Brews all round.

Ooh! Profiteroles! Chelsea buns!

Thank you, greentrees! Now I just need some Brew so I don't sit here and salivate!

Erm, these children play with slugs? Shock

I used to play with slugs too - inspired by salt tin with picture of boy putting salt on chicken's tail, I thought it was fun to sprinkle slugs with salt (not a nice child at all). Current garden-damage is probably karmic .....

Hope you've enjoyed baking experiences in cybergarden, greentreespurpleflowers, some of us have calorie-counting restrictions, and have not eaten home bakery in a long time, well, birthday, I think... but have certainly enjoyed super baking aromas mixed with floras scents, and it's certainly added to pleasures of cybergarden (companion animals lick lips and show great interest).
Before I forget, do help yourselves from usual morning tray, -no, the big espresso's mine- to add to cakes.

Showtime · 17/06/2012 00:12

This was the quietest day ever in cybergarden, so hope everyone's keeping well and just too busy to call in.
Goodnight all.

It's a new day greentrees, and just as likely to be a good day as a poor one, so here's hoping that at least parts of it are enjoyable.
Also hope your DCs continue stalking slugs, which does sound like a nice clean, quiet occupation where no-one gets pushed over or muddied etc.... Do they end up over the hedge in neighbours' gardens, or do you not enquire too closely?

RabbitsMakeBrownEggs · 17/06/2012 22:37

I'm having a very bad time of it right now, can I come hide in here and pretend that it's not all gone wrong for a little bit? I have some monumental sorting out to do when I have to get my straight head on, so I need to get the emotional strength from somewhere.

Showtime · 17/06/2012 22:38

Hope you did have a better day, greentrees, and a nice relaxing evening. I'm just back from a dormousing episode, which is a real nuisance, as I should have been skyping rather than sleeping, and will have to try again tomorrow.
