Here's a new thread for us.

OP posts:
Nilgiri · 21/05/2012 23:28

Thank you so much for honeysuckle and bumblebees and visiting blackbirds, futuredream.

Cold here, alas, and not an outdoor day, so cybergardening an ideal alternative. Very glad not to be as affected by the cold as Showtime's poor bumblebee. (Thanks for that great link, f, another one who's always wondered what to do.)

Hope today's been OK for you, too, Upward. Watching the forecast as I type, and your region looks baking tomorrow!

Nilgiri · 21/05/2012 23:35

And I want to grumble. My hands aren't working well and it annoys me but doesn't actually stop me typing to grumble about it.

There, done that now.

Anyone want some of that Brew? Wink

futuredream · 22/05/2012 00:22

Ah , thank you, Nilgiri< gratefully snuggles into warmed rug >

Sympathies times a thousand for hand problems ... I get more upset by problems with hands than by almost anything else , ever - and I've always been able to type during bouts - still hateful and frightening .. me me me .
Are hands being fumbly - hate hate hate this , or opening or clasping unexpectedly , so you drop things ... (rhetorical if you don't want to dwell on infuriating details ).< HF hops up for consoling nuzzles, imagining her own displeasure should paws disobey feline will >

Glad you enjoyed our sunny garden- rotten shame actually cold in some areas
still .

Glad we're all filling pipettes with honey -water mixture in readiness
for exhausted bees Grin I have a companion butterly this year , who's stopped being nervpous of me as I bustle past it as it suns itself on garden chair < knows am very lucky to be bustling , let alone outdoors >

Hoping we all have a healing sleep- all sending extra good wishes your
way , Upward
< ndt takes up guard post to watch over gardeners >

< fairies dust and lump cushions >
< and sprinkle healing dust in our ho chocolate >

Showtime · 22/05/2012 00:49

Thanks to cybergardeners for lovely posts - goodnight.

Showtime · 22/05/2012 09:47

Sorry I had to dash last night, no choice really, but so sorry to hear about your hands Nilgiri, and hope there's been either a diagnosis or an improvement.

Loved your image of HF suffering loss of paw control, futuredream, and thanks for news of companion butterfly, never known one of those and hope it's around for a long time.

Bright sun this morning, so maybe summer's arrived at last. Hope upward's having a good morning, and has left the miseries behind.

Off out for a few hours, mixed chores and pleasure, but I'm glad to feel well again, and thanks to all for good wishes.

futuredream · 22/05/2012 11:47

Morning , lovely people- so glad to see you feeling well , *Showtime, after your great patience
& hope you have a satisfying morning

< wishes glorious day and a companion butterflies to us all > Dearly hoping for for all of usto feel the comforting effect of the sun today

< cats tormentUpward and Nilgiri with feline affection >

Am getting a lift with dentist-bound Dh to see my Mum for sandwhich in
little park , so please excurse absence for couple of hours

< rolls up screen in summerhouse to show sumptious garden programmes

futuredream · 22/05/2012 16:53

Afternoon all < lays out langues de chat ( for high days but also for cheering -up) and cloudy lemonade >
Hope Upward has had some soothing aspects to the day , and Showtime ihad a producctive morning and can now relax

< sends Nilgiri bombardment of sunny-cybergarden thoughts >
< tries to dissuade HF from well-meaning feline physiostherapy teach-in - well, if she can't get me to hunt shrews...>

Phew, poor DM , not much ltime for alnguid picknicking ... all manner of hitches for Dh with roadworks , losing him in carparks in baking heat when he was in dreadful pain Blush - now prescribed ABs and having a napSmile

...DM was wanting to show me the renovations done to a beloved woodland area , which has always been too shady & secluded to be safe . I - was dreading seeing it all flattened, but still lots of trees up, and stumps used as sitting circles, benches etc . Very good to see sun streaming in , and an installation of trees now carved as very traditional English artworks , on the theme of nature Smile

Nilgiri · 22/05/2012 17:36

Humbled once again by what everyone else is putting up with. Hands unexpectedly opening and closing sounds terrifying, f.Sad

Mine just get weak and fumbly and a bit painful. They're not even very bad at the moment - I was just annoyed last night because they were recently so much better I know I'm spoilt. And because cold makes them worse, which in May is plain insulting!

I would plunge my hands gratefully into HF's fur for feline heat therapy, but today has turned out shiny and blue here, as for most of us! Comforting effect of the sun indeed, f.

Hope Upward is having a share of it, too, and no one is now suffering from too much heat, after too little.

So pleased your day includes a trip for pleasure as well as business, Showtime.

futuredream · 22/05/2012 23:06

weeps at idea of Nilgiri being "spoiled" > I knew that would come out wrong from me - I don't always have those symptoms , and not in succession, ie opening then closing . So sorry your hands ache when provoked by chilly temperatures and other insults ... HF has a good thick winter stole on still Smile
So agree on the feeling humbled by fellow cybergardeners
... as I was searching threads today for tips , I found some jaw-droppingly effective work by you- thank you so much < cybergarden ThanksThanksThanksThanks.

So pleased you've had sun today , & hope same for Showtime and
Upward. Good day for tomato plants , Showtime!

Sorry been out of touch again this evening, but had an internet outage
, local I think . Dh been pacing house with pain as ABs no kicked in yet, but not quite bad enough to consult out of hours GP service -it's good rou
nd here , & at one point were visiting her once a week -
not really legitimate use of the service , but always treated her with great kindness
NightcapBrews , hoping we all dream of sunshine with dappled glades
pinching phrase from Nilgii , as usual ) and friendly tree sculptures

Showtime · 22/05/2012 23:47

Apologies for all the dormousing, and really appreciate your posts from cybergarden. Sorry about your hands Nilgiri, mine have got more fumbly over the last year or so and I thought it was due to age; certainly annoying whatever the reason. Do those handwarmers work I wonder?
Appreciate the Brews, goodnight and sleep well all.

Nilgiri · 23/05/2012 00:03

That's rotten that DH is still in pain, future.Sad Hope either the AB's start to have an impact or that you feel able to call for OOH advice on pain relief, before settling into a night of it. Much, much sympathy for DH. Is there some silly film or mindless, non-critical task he can pick away at, for slight distraction? The wee small hours can be very grim with pain (as I'm sure we all know).

Dappled glades and tree sculptures sound fabulous! What a relief to find they've renovated creatively rather than destructively.

I wonder if you'd also like the work of Andy Goldsworthy, who works with natural materials as a response to the environment in which he find them?

Hope Showtime's afternoon went well, and that Upward has had a good day.

I haven't done much "work" recently on MN or RL, as I'm having a break and being happy. Should restart in RL, though but not now.

Nilgiri · 23/05/2012 00:04

Oh dear, I keep x-posting with everyone's goodnights!

Sleep well, Showtime. Sleep well all.

Showtime · 23/05/2012 12:28

Once more, thanks for advice from cybergardeners, Nilgiri, aboiut having a break and enjoying life, just too easy to forget chez Showtime, and recognising a good time to stop needs practice, as I seem to be ruled by the calendar these days.
Hope your hands are improved, and that futuredream
and her DH had a restful night at last.

Not heard from upward for a few days, so am hoping life is not too difficult at present, particularly regarding the endless BoO.

Posted small holly seedlings to futuredream this morning as planned, but was shocked by cost, not realised we'd had another price hike and would have guessed at letter-weight before the weighing. Am feeling sympathy for pensioners and others who can't use
cheaper texting and emailing, and have to rely on snail-mail and/or telephone for social communication.

Another lovely sunny day here, so hope we can all enjoy time outside. Local garage doesn't do painting, so am trying to cover up rust patches on (white) car while it's good painting weather, ever optimistic.
.

futuredream · 23/05/2012 15:23

< waves and puts out jugs of iced lemonade and iced tea >

Oh my , internet has been down all day here- now it returns , need to dormouseGrin
Hope we're all relatively OK , just slowed down by heatwave < tries not to fret >

Thank you so much for perceptive and magnificent suggestions for Dh to distract himself a bit last night- was a wakeful night again , & nearly rang for advice but ABs started to ease symptoms this morning- he's even tottered into work for vital meeting , and is very touched at kind wishes from king gardeners with far too much experiewnce of such things

Goaty toes that we can all enjoy reasonable spirits despite obstacles . Hope Upward can see a friend this week and get some sun

Extremely glad to hear you have been concentrating on yourself for a while , Nilgiri< feline flipping marathon , followed by snoozing in shady hedge >

< beagle awakes in surprise as his cool retreat is invaded >

futuredream · 23/05/2012 15:27

Sorry for typos... two "kinds" to describe cybergardeners -not "kings"- which reminds me - do any of us have jubilee / republican parties coming up in our neighbourhoods ?

Nilgiri · 23/05/2012 17:15

Glad DH is getting some relief, but hope he's able to take enough of a break to actually recover, or his poor body will protest with more and more illnesses.

Grin at king gardeners. I've always seen Showtime as a queen of gardeners!

Showtime · 23/05/2012 22:20

Thanks for your very kind comment Nilgiri. Showtime (rose) has always been very versatile, flourishing in most areas with minimum fuss but now flattered to be seen as regal!

Hope you're happy with today's dormousing futuredream, and have made up for lack of sleep while your DH was suffering, poor man. Am still recovering myself, although hardly suffering from heatwave yet. It will be another early night here,> in case I forget to say goodnight.<

Best wishes to upward, and hope you're feeling better.

Nilgiri · 23/05/2012 22:39

Thank you for suggestion of hand-warmers, btw, Showtime. I really should get some fingerless gloves and a couple of those wheat bag things. Hands are enjoying today's weather, which has been painting weather here, too! Hope yours went well. I'm now chuffed but exhausted - but get second coat on tomorrow to make it waterproof, so early night planned.

No idea about jubilee/ republican parties here, future - how are your area's plans going? Sorry you're having more internet frustrations.

Hope Upward's had a good day.

Showtime · 24/05/2012 00:45

Must check for my fingerless gloves Nilgiri, and I do remember making wrist-warmers (internet pattern), but doubt they'll help my clumsy hands. Thanks for using the ; mine were backwards I see.
My car painting looks surprisingly good, but will have to move it in order to finish one side (narrow garage). It's always worthwhile improving items with coat of paint, isn't it?
Local Jubilee celebrations seem to be usual "carnival" variety, with as-yet unspecified free sandwiches and cake, so I'll probably stay home/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////sorry, goodnight.

Showtime · 24/05/2012 09:56

Morning all - lines of forward slashes last night is where I dropped off - too tired to bother erasing, and might even have produced another few lines.
Lovely weather here, hope we can all enjoy it.
Also hope holly parcel arrives safely , futuredream.
Seems ages since I made any Brews, so here's a mixed trayful (based on own espresso of course).

Upwardandonward · 24/05/2012 12:18

Sorry all, I'm struggling at present. Hugs and Brew to all.

OP posts:
Showtime · 24/05/2012 12:32

Thanks for making the huge effort to post while not feeling good, upward - you probably realise we've been
a bit worried about you and hoping life's not too difficult.
If you're having our good weather, maybe it would help to ignore chores/objects for an hour or so, and just sit outdoors? (I plan to do this for a short while, remembering the heat-right-through feeling of total relaxation experienced last summer.) Hugs to you too.

Nilgiri · 24/05/2012 12:43

So sorry things are hard at the moment, Upward.

Showtime · 24/05/2012 14:48

It was such a lovely day - but after trip to town for one non-urgent pharmacy item, I find rest of this month's due items have not even been ordered by new pharmacist - I did suspect his understanding of English, and my Thai friend who was with me at the time told me she didn't understand what was happening, well, painkillers are likely to run out now, and looks like I'll have to find
an English-speaking pharmacist for next month... Am cross.
And also unhappy about indiscriminate new lines which start here now and then - off out into garden to swear.

Showtime · 24/05/2012 16:55

Daft old tabby remembered to go into garden, then forgot to have a good curse, never mind, can have one tomorrow I'm sure and I often forget what I came for.

Such a beautiful day, and car looks much improved now rust has gone and very-close-match painting finished. I'm sure my DSis has never touched up paint on a car, well, not since teens, when I remember one car always had the spare dog-lead attached to passenger door as it tended to fly open unexpectedly (the days before MOTs could be dangerous). It also had a sack of potatoes in the back, donated by a kind farmer-client to help keep rear wheels in place while cornering, which caused problems when DM helped herself rather than shop.
