Hope this is Post No. 1001 equivalent, having just used up the thousandth space and feel I shouldn't ask Madmouse to organise the next one again.

Have just looked into summerhouse to check fire is burning gently, tray of [brew} organised by upward to turn into one's favourite hot drink of the moment is standing ready for visitors, along with a few pounds of chocolates from huge box sent by DSis. (Before DB eats any more today)

It's usually tianc, upward and hob who remember to be hospitable and also remember to send good wishes to previous visitors, including said madmouse and mouselet, kizzie and family, NanaNina, Butterpie and another name which eludes me just now, but am hoping you'll find your way to this new part of the Cybergarden
and continue visiting in the New Year, along with hob's time-travelling cat Her Felinity and her welcome associate ndt (next-door's-tom), who visit us quite often, bringing gifts of Thanks when they remember, instead of the usual dead rodents which they know are unwelcome in the cybergarden.

Have just had lovely large lunch, plus Skype visit from rest of relatives, so will have a little potter round RL garden, hoping all is well and welcoming now in cybergarden's summerhouse.

Hope journey and admission process pass smoothly and quickly , upward , and the ward won't be too noisy

Am a wimp about hospital admissions and have refused to be admitted when purpose of it wasn't explained so may I present you with one of our gleaming cybergarden medals , for courage and understatedness ThanksThanks

Honorary medals to the inventors of the internet phone tooThanks

PS shodatin -I doubt you still have time to read the other thread I follow , the one where you liked the recipes , but the poster who had the horrendous health problems and miracle pregnancy , has just given birth !! Truly amazing news

Hope we all have a calm evening - thinking of you , upwardxxx

shodatin · 06/03/2012 22:23

Hope journey and admission went well upward. Am assuming the op will be tomorrow, so will be thinking of you, and agree with Hob that you should have a medal.
Thanks for passing on the amazing news hob, and am wishing your friend and LO good health and happiness at this time. Have not read recently, but that is good news.

Sorry been dormousing for ages, as friend took me out this afternoon, when I was really tired but couldn't refuse. Hope everyone else had a reasonable day, and that upward is soon settled in new, quiet hospital bed.

Wayhey! at discharge Upward! That's marvellous news. Will be thinking of you tomorrow - hope you get a good night's sleep before then, and the ward is nice and quiet.

Shock at beagle's smalls collection, shodatin! But did he put them in the washing basket, that's what I want to know? Oh dear about today's pushy friend, know just what you mean. And they do think they're doing you a favour overriding your judgement, don't they? Hope a good snooze this evening has recharged the batteries a little, and tomorrow shows no ill effects.

Ooh, what's your textbook on, hob? [nosy] Did I miss something about your studies?

shodatin · 07/03/2012 09:43

Afraid I missed something about hob's studies too, as brain not working properly (like rest of me) at end of day.

Beagle got into laundry basket sometimes, although not allowed upstairs, then liked to parade frillies around to be admired, really embarrassing, but not as upsetting as endless sucking on DH's socks, the real prize.

Enjoyed lukewarm mug of chocolate, thankyou, but wonder what's happened to all the biscuits and flumps ?
Any crumbs in or on your bed Nilgiri?

All best wishes for upwards operation, please post when you're able as thinking of you.

Upwardandonward · 07/03/2012 11:12

No beds yet.

Nilgiri · 07/03/2012 11:17

Oh how annoying for you. I do hope you get done today, not bumped.

Upwardandonward · 07/03/2012 11:53

Thanks nilgiri - the op was planned for tomorrow, it's a very busy hospital so beds are always an issue. They may do it as day surgery.

Nilgiri · 07/03/2012 12:20

Oh good luck for then, then! Hope you were able to find out before you left home, and aren't twiddling your thumbs at the hospital...

Btw, may I pick your brains about another wheelie thing? I hope to graduate to a mobility scooter at some point, but the only space to park it outside the house is a small gravelled area. What's your take on wheels + gravel?

Upwardandonward · 07/03/2012 12:30

It'll just mean waiting until they know/decide, ah well.

It depends on the depth of gravel/how packed it is - see if you can testdrive the scooter on it.

cityhobgoblin · 07/03/2012 13:22

Oh noooo , sorry for the waiting round, upward - does that mean you've been unable to eat or drink since yesterday ? Hope you get your answer very shortly ( PS , sorry , I forgot you were just sticking to this thread at the moment - I will see if there's anything about your OU query on the Ed board)

Sorry for long absence , lots of dormousing .Nilgiri , hope you find a suitable scooter & the gravel works out OK . Every day I look out for local lady going past on hers , small terrier running alongside or sitting proudly on front of scooter

Grinat crumbs - thank you for midnight feast , Nilgiri < puts out refilled tin , with stern look at companion animals keen to mount cooperative raid >
< puts lid firmly on laundry basket ... shudders at fondness for man-socks >

Hope you have the chance to recover quietly today , shodatin, from the tiredness of unexpected excursion when already worn out . I certainly will send new mother your best wishes- birth announcement is on the thread if you want to enjoy it- incredible news

Thank you both for asking after my "studies".. just reading simple social sciences & basic maths textbooks whilst seeking better advice on any source of income or subsidies for courses- no joy so far .

Last few years have been thwarted by health condition in plans to do voluntary work to improve chances of getting very part- time support / care assistant work - I am determined , though , & have passions I would like to study further which might then develop into vol work I can do when no longer mobile etc < champing at bit >

Grin ndt is so enormous he's hard to miss, Nilgiri unless you have a very thick duvet ... he's hypoallergenic, if not entirely hygienic

shodatin · 07/03/2012 13:56

So sorry for your op delay upward, I'd be getting stressed, but you seem wonderfully calm, so hope it lasts.

Am recovered from tiredness thanks hob, probably due to amount of dormousing yesterday evening, and sorry to hear it got you too, so inconvenient isn't it? Are you feeling better for the naps? Glad you have ambitions for future - something to look forward to- so hope health continues to improve (remembering when Nilgiri could do much less than now).
Will certainly have another look at the other thread. It's such good news, and you must be so pleased, as I know you've been involved with that thread for a long time, and New Mum spent a lot of time feeling unwell - just shows what can be possible, however unlikely.
Am thinking of you upward, and hope you can get reasonably comfortable/have a rest while waiting for op.

OP posts:
Upwardandonward · 07/03/2012 17:59

I need to try and stay calm, shodatin - i don't want the voices back. I hope it continues, though I don't think I'll be relaxed enough to sleep after I get to the hospital at silly o'clock tomorrow morning.

I've been keeping busy by sorting everything for day surgery - groceries included.

Upwardandonward · 07/03/2012 18:38

PS Would you qualify for the OU's discretionary funding, Hob - I was surprised to.

cityhobgoblin · 07/03/2012 18:56

I'm sorry you have so much to take into account , upward , and am ,
like the others, sending poSSitive thoughts . Urgh , it's horrible
having to wake while it's still nighttime to go to hospital .
Am smiling at a thread in Chat whose OP has just been admitted , very poorly , & says a nurse was looking disapprovingly at her for tiring herself out typing on tablet-until she said she was on Mumsnet , whereupon nurse smiled knowingly .

Oh wow , hadn't ever thought of asking about discretionary funding
-thank you so much for suggesting it - I feel brave enough to make
enquiriesSmile

Yes,shodatin very good to have ( moveble ) aims ! My health condition is permanent but has not progressed as quickly so far as I expected a few years ago when making these plans ! I am , however , several years behind on some of themGrin- sympathies on the dormousing , and glad you're recovering from yesterday

Oooh yes , please do look at the thread (obviously New Mum not getting online much atm ! ) Her pregnancy health challenges were truly
frightening and I aged years during the time ...

< warms rugs in front of fire for all who need a rest in summerhouse >
Hope you've had sunshine today , Nilgiri, and have some way of
emotional/spiriual recharging for these tumultous times

Brews for us all

cityhobgoblin · 07/03/2012 18:58

eek , sorry - thought I'd sorted out the odd spacing issues but post re-jigged itself!

Upwardandonward · 07/03/2012 19:12

Thanks for the positive thoughts and empathy, the voices are being a bit difficult just now.

Nilgiri · 07/03/2012 19:22

Ooh, calming Brew!

Gosh, you've been having a really busy, organisational day, Upward. Yikes at being up so early - though I suppose it has the inadvertent merit of one fewer nights in hospital.

Thanks for gravel observations - I guess tightly packed is the thing to aim for?

Upwardandonward · 07/03/2012 19:26

Yes, or shallow gravel too - some peoples' drives are ok.

It will probably be no nights in hospital now, which is good in some ways, but has meant I needed to pull my finger out today. Hopefully it'll be calmer at home anyway.

Upwardandonward · 07/03/2012 19:27

thanks for the flumps

SerialKipper · 07/03/2012 19:36

Shallow gravel should be easy, and we could put some sort of surmountable border round it - that really would need test-driving to get right.

Truth be told, we should probably pave the area properly. It makes sense - but I hate fronts which have disappeared under hardstanding. It's just a pocket handkerchief, so my silent arguments about "increasing run off and causing floods" may be a leeetle exaggerated...

Hope you're getting a break from the whizzing round by now.

Nilgiri · 07/03/2012 19:40

Arghh, namechange fail again! ^^

I may give up on this separating my identities lark - I'm obviously hopeless at it!

Upwardandonward · 07/03/2012 19:43

Yes, I'm resting now thanks...in need of distraction at the moment, hence being here.

Those sound like good plans, nilgiri

Nilgiri · 07/03/2012 20:00

You've inspired me to get researching now. We could use this to make wheel-friendly gravel areas. And now I know about it, we install it elsewhere, too. Happy now!

In fact, I may just post this in the wheelie-drome.

Upwardandonward · 07/03/2012 20:03

That thread's a good idea.

Nilgiri · 07/03/2012 20:23

I just cheat and ask you! But someone had questions about helping ageing parents adjust, and no one tells you the important stuff.
