Hope this is Post No. 1001 equivalent, having just used up the thousandth space and feel I shouldn't ask Madmouse to organise the next one again.

Have just looked into summerhouse to check fire is burning gently, tray of [brew} organised by upward to turn into one's favourite hot drink of the moment is standing ready for visitors, along with a few pounds of chocolates from huge box sent by DSis. (Before DB eats any more today)

It's usually tianc, upward and hob who remember to be hospitable and also remember to send good wishes to previous visitors, including said madmouse and mouselet, kizzie and family, NanaNina, Butterpie and another name which eludes me just now, but am hoping you'll find your way to this new part of the Cybergarden
and continue visiting in the New Year, along with hob's time-travelling cat Her Felinity and her welcome associate ndt (next-door's-tom), who visit us quite often, bringing gifts of Thanks when they remember, instead of the usual dead rodents which they know are unwelcome in the cybergarden.

Have just had lovely large lunch, plus Skype visit from rest of relatives, so will have a little potter round RL garden, hoping all is well and welcoming now in cybergarden's summerhouse.

Glad to hear you're at home again upward, and hope you're not too uncomfortable. It must be such a relief to be back at home with own bed waiting, and it's so kind of you to find time to let us know you're alright.
I see hob has thought to offer us Brews and hot chocs (here, have my flump, you must be starving after operation restrictions). Hope you have someone at home to help you, must be exhausted. Sleep well, am so glad you're ok.

Laughing out loud here at one-beagle-crime-spree. Just think what the holidaymakers said when they got home - "And you wouldn't believe the cheek of those villagers, honestly, thieves everywhere. And so cunning! We still can't work out how they did it!"

Gosh, you're trying culinary cardoons, shodatin. Will be fascinated to know if you manage to turn that into something edible. In fact both you and hob have fabulous garden plans. Glad you got enough sunshine to do something in the garden.

hob dearest, wise shodatin has said it all so much better than I could. And in addition, you have been so amazing with all of the agencies to do with MIL. I know it's easier doing it for others than when one's own self is "on the line", but your recent successes are another point you can repeat to yourself. Really, how would things have gone for PIL over the last six months if you hadn't been involved?

Hope MIL is still keeping on keeping on, btw. Her planned time in respite must be over by now, so I wonder how you're all coping with next steps.

shodatin · 08/03/2012 23:13

I can't stay awake much longer I'm afraid, so I'll join upward in reading more tomorrow, and hope hob's DH is not too tired to fix the computer.
Hope Nilgiri's had a reasonable day, and that her DP actually enjoyed his childhood with the hound (my brother did, and maybe that's the reason he still has some doggy characteristics).

Morning all! Hope upward had a decent night's sleep after recent horrible experiences, and is now feeling refreshed and relaxed and able to enjoy lovely sunny morning.
Same good wishes all round actually, and am wondering about co-incidence of Kennet and Avon canal, Nilgiri. Best local dog-walking area for us, where pups learned that not all bright-green, flat surfaces are lawn, smarter hound slowing pace at frantic tone of voice but littlest continuing dash into old canal lock covered in duckweed....

OP posts:
Upwardandonward · 09/03/2012 11:55

I did have a good sleep thanks.

Here's some Brew and I hope everyone has a good day.

cityhobgoblin · 09/03/2012 13:15

So good to see you ,upward & delighted you got your much-needed rest . Thank you for the Brews & hope recovery is and all is proceeding as hoped

Sorry to be such a lately but am having a slow week ... feel so much stronger in every thanks to your incredible thoughtfulness & encouragement , kindest of people

Thank you Nilgirifor kind enquiries after MIL - she's had to stay in the nursing home aanother 2 weeks as the carers couldn't be found in time - not surprising , will be4 (brief) visits a day but need to be trained in peg feeding etc . Hopefully she'll be home tomrrow < goaty toes >

Oooh , thank you for garden details , shodatin , whiich I'll have to return to a bit later

< offers fluffy towel to poor wet beagle > Glad you've both had such experiences of the Kennet & Avon , which is very dear to my favourite Auntie , she of the baby-bird rearing , & I'd love to spend time on the canal < forewarned >

So glad you had a decent sleep upward, you must have needed some natural healing after what your poor mind and body suffered recently. Am glad it's over now, and hope sleep pattern continues to be good now you're at home. Take care now, go slowly and let other people do things for you if/when possible.
Thankyou for the Brew, case in point, I'd have waited for me to remember to make some, being more than my turn, and now feel bad having drink prepared by recovering invalid who should be looked after for next few days.
Hope your MiL is able to get home tomorrow hob, and that help are able to be fully helpful.
It was actually poor wet DH who needed fluffy towel after pulling daft dog from duckweedy water in decent suit, and I could hardly complain about his language either, as few people could have dragged animal out without being
covered in water and weed as it shook itself dry.

< shiny medal for shodatin' s Dh for brave act(s?) of beaglesaving - no wonder you sad he was wont to say te hounds turned his hair grey , shodatin

Nodding vigorously at your wise words to upward , who will , I hope , be feeling much better in every way in a day or two

Very peaceful evening to us all - sorry not been able yet to catch up with everything from yesterday's cybergarden Brews

cityhobgoblin · 09/03/2012 19:00

argh , breaking my record for typos today , sorry

shodatin · 09/03/2012 20:12

Peaceful evening to you too hob, and am wondering if you could manage to have some time resting as well as upward? Seems there's even more than usual taking up your time the last few days, and it's not surprising you feel you're getting behind. Hope there's some relaxation planned for weekend, as well as endless chores and political work for the community, and hope computer problem can be fixed without too much time and money.
Two friends got new gadgets as Christmas presents; one was an up-to-date PC and the other one a Samsung Galaxy, which is really a telephone and giving me a few jealous moments, as can't justify any upgrades at all (and can't think of anyone likely to buy me such a present).

OP posts:
Upwardandonward · 09/03/2012 21:04

I'm crawling in briefly to make Brew and then bed, fairly incoherently.

shodatin · 09/03/2012 21:24

An early night is a good idea upward, but hope you're not feeling ill or having a relapse? Is there someone with you to help?

OP posts:
cityhobgoblin · 09/03/2012 23:47

Thank you for posting , upward ( & even remembering our Brews and really hope you have plenty of healing sleep

Hopefully upward isn't experiencing any untoward effects , shodatin - I hope she won't mind me saying I chanced upon noticed she was giving v helpful advice to a poster in the afternoon , which showed plenty of coherence - really hope she hasn't been feeling horrible or, as you say, having other type of relapse

Thank you so much , shodatin- you'd have approved of oor evening errand , nipping, into town by car ( which had been stalling yesterday , so we weren't expecting to be dable to get aout ) - went to a free exhibition about Dh's favourite band , then from the window there , saw huge firework display we had no idea would happen , from the very best window in town . Was a really magical evening ( lots of atmospheric photos in the exhibition ) driving back via a place we'd "saved" to vsit for the first time , & nightime lights were so pretty.

Just over a week of extra tasks , which I pray we can manage, & then w'll be carefreeif we don't get evicted

I wish I could conjure you up a lovely new gadget , & have seen Mners praising the Samsung Galaxy , though that might of course be a marketing trick ... As your Dh liked to give you good presents , I'm sure he would be encouraging you to try & work out if you can spare anything at all to save for a nice gadget ? I know that's not easy with bills & everyday items being so expensive at thew moment

HF in joyous mood today , requiring human playmate outdoors- & neighbour (staff to b&w tom ) tells us there are tadpoles on the allotment bathtubs- her heart's desire Grin

Nilgiri · 10/03/2012 00:09

Sleep well, Upward, thank you so much for making the effort to post when you're so whacked. Hope you have someone coming in to check on you in the morning.

Oh dear about not walking on water hound.GrinGrin Kennet & Avon connection was psychic hob's beautiful relaxing photo link on Wednesday - she clearly divined it was a special place for you, shodatin!

Hmm, DP a very loyal sort, which he might have learnt from canine siblings though not the airhead poodle. Oh, and he says you learn to guard your food...

He also empathises with your phone envy, as is himself lusting over both an iPad 3 and a Raspberry Pi - whatever those are!

Off to bed here, too. Hope we all sleep soundly and safely, and wake with enough spoons for the day ahead.

Upwardandonward · 10/03/2012 08:41

Sorry shodatin, I was just absolutely exhausted, and I do crawl an awful lot. Just whacked as nilgiri says. I'm glad you thought the advice was ok, wasn't sure I should be posting but they weren't getting a response.

Brew Brew Brew

cityhobgoblin · 10/03/2012 08:57

Thank you for magicBrew, Nilgiri , & for all your hard work in the summerhouse
Morning upward , thank you for Brews - brilliant to see you up already < awed > - I know you said it's not good for you to sleep during the day

Sorry to unwittingly eavesdrop on you yesterday , &- thought your advice was particularly lseful - I found professionals rarely explained those sorts of practicalities even when specifically asked , most anxiety-provoking . Absolutely brilliant of you to help when feeling rough

Grin atyour DPs and DBs with doggy traits , hmmm... small Dh did not get the hound he so craved , but when worried , his expression never fail to remind me of Gromit the plasticine hound

Further sympathies for the gadget envy here, shodatin , & hope you can find a way to save for a lovely thing .- I feel sad for Dh that supporting me financially means he never has any treats , but just as that came into effect , he ended up working with entertaining technology , which has given him the chance to enjoy all that Smile.

The Raspberry Pi I think only costs about £20 Nilgiri & is a
teaching tool , but sold out in advance

Hope we all have the chance to see a bit of sunshine this weekend

shodatin · 10/03/2012 09:54

Glad you've recovered upward, and thanks for letting us know you're OK this morning. Of course you must have been exhausted yesterday evening (and probably today too if not slowed down). Many thanks for the Brew and Brew Nilgiri and Upward, am too slow to reciprocate.

Interesting stuff about tech toys, but really can't justify anything new just yet. Must figure out why I seem to be paying BT so much more than agreed amount and get supplier changed before adding to this expense.

Excellent news about tadpoles hob, and thanks for telling us about your serendipitous evening. Good to know you'll soon be able to relax at home, and hope all goes well for MiL with helpers (and FiL, friends have had similar experiences which I believe are age-related).

Can just imagine some of the sibling rivalry at your DP's home, Nilgiri, particularly around food dishes
(pink dog-biscuits my least favourite), and remembering my DB's still-out-going personality even
without a tail to wag.
Lovely sunny morning here, so hope we can all enjoy some time outside.

OP posts:
cityhobgoblin · 10/03/2012 16:33

"remembering my still-outgoing DB's personality , even without a tail to wag " Grin Thank you for find us such joyous beagle antics , shodatin , & for fabulous recollections of your childhood , such as pink dog biscuits being not to your taste < must ask more about your family >

Hope you're recovering , upward, & can soon do some things you'd like to .
Apologies , forgot to say this morning I wouldn't be around till evening , -been glorious sunny day here too for political canvassing etc in town , with cheery crowds in shorts . Met a couple of friends , too ... a busker who is always pitched nearby decided to (very mildly) mock my politics over his ampliier , the- cheeky so-and-so

On my return found felines frolicking all over the garden , helping Dh clear the shed < carefully stores idyllic memory >

Thank you for confirming my suspicions about FIL's difficulties , shodatin , & for the many kind wishes for the home care process.
Lots of threads on moneysavingexpert.com about changing suppliers , and saw one on Mn earlier, which I''ll search out

Peaceful afternoon allBrews - many consolations forn ot having had chance to do much in garden , Nilgiri - would you like a tub of cybertadpoles to add interest to it ? < digs tiny pond >

Upwardandonward · 10/03/2012 17:27

Thanks for the Brew :) I'm feeling pretty rough, and a bit low, but hopefully that will pass. Also feeling I should be doing something useful.

I hope you get your supplier sorted out, shodatin

I hope the canvassing went well, sounds a good day for it hob

Nilgiri I may have ordered myself a new iPad as a 'reward' for te past few days...(i.e. the new one, I don't own one already).

shodatin · 10/03/2012 20:34

Good news about the iPad upward, and you do deserve one after the last few days. I wouldn't know how to order one actually, so am probably not as able to use one as you are. Hope it helps you to feel a bit better anyway, and think you should just be recovering at present and not actually doing anything else - plenty of time to be useful later.

Felines probably enjoyed having your DH on their territory, hob, and would naturally be interested in the shed. Hope you're not too tired after political work today, and that your musician friend managed to be witty and kind about your work. Lots of political stuff going on here, never seen so many canvassers as our Green man
just resigned (and so had to give some thought to his successor).

Parents fought endless battles to keep animals away from people food, and vice versa, but of course we all tried the dog's biscuits (Pink were fish, I believe, and black charcoal, which were surprisingly more-ish)

OP posts:
Upwardandonward · 10/03/2012 20:39

Thanks shodatin, wise words. I've never tried dog biscuits.

Good night everyone, hope all get some sleep.

shodatin · 10/03/2012 22:20

Goodnight upward, sleep well. Have just laughed out loud at your post re dog biscuits. Thankyou for the Brew; I'll get them next time.
Hope everyone else has a good night too, as am off to bed myself.

OP posts:
Nilgiri · 11/03/2012 01:28

Oops, x-post last night. What a glorious evening, hob. And a busy and useful day today, too!

Cybertadpoles? I'd love - but find myself still twitchy about standing-water after living in malarial zones (have you noticed my penchant for moving-water features when possible?) But the cyberpond is probably magically mozzie-free.

Grin at "may have ordered myself a new IPad", Upward. I am never going to introduce you and DP in person - you'd elope! The two of you even write similarly...

Hope tomorrow is better than today. You must be drained in so many ways right now, so perhaps take this week off to recuperate and gather yourself, and make a plan to "do something useful" after that. You've been solidly on the go since you got out of the first hospital.

DP has now revealed he did in fact try to get a Raspberry Pi, but they're not to be had for love nor money. It would be lovely if you did manage to afford a techie treat, shodatin - I was thinking what hob said, too, about it being a wonderful birthday present "from" DH. Good luck with switching supplier in the more immediate future.

Definitely bed time. Sleep well, all.

Upwardandonward · 11/03/2012 09:15

Grin Nilgiri. It is probably an idea to take a week.

Good morning everyone, here's some Brew Brew Brew Brew for today, I'm just about to go on a paracetamol hunt (shops open at 10).

shodatin · 11/03/2012 09:33

Morning to upward (and everyone else of course. )
Sorry you're needing extra painkillers so early in the morning, and hope it's not because you needed a lot during the night. Am seconding Nilgiri's idea of a week to recuperate, much as you like the idea of being back to normal, and getting paracetamol first thing might be better done by someone else, as am sure people won't mind. Could you phone and ask for help, thus staying in bed a while longer?
Thankyou for the Brew, much appreciated, although more than my turn, as usual. I see Nilgiri's been busy refilling the snack tin - never had one before as only ever baked for guests/special occasions- something else appreciated from considerate cyber- gardeners.
