It's my fault that the NHS is too expensive

and I can't do anything about it :(

Hi Snowmash - Ive had to take liquid medications at various times because of problems of withdrawing from 'normal' tablets. (The liquid meant I could alter the dose in smaller amounts). My GP said it was absolutely fine for a temporary solution (and she is v v cost aware.) Yours will be temporary too so you arent doing any harm to the NHS.

Glad the dr explained to you why they are doing it. Its absolutely right that they are keeping you updated.

x

Right, mash and mystery pie in oven (I think it's the chicken shape, not the beef shape, but butcher doesn't label and I'm not very bright!).

snowmash · 22/02/2011 19:50

Mm...but compliance isn't an issue, cost is. Seems wrong to take liquid when it's not for a clinical reason

Nice sounding food all.

It's also a little I'm shocked because I thought it was a section primarily for assessment, not treatment.

It's for assessment and treatment Snow. I know you are very intelligent so don't mean to insult you but assessment is for finding out exactly what is wrong with you, and then treating you for what is wrong.

It wouldn't be much good finding out what was wrong and then doing nothing about it would it. Imagine taking your car in to the garage because it is making a bumping noise under the bonnet and the mechanic saying "well I know what the trouble is" but there is no point in doing anything about it, though it will get worse!"

Just try to relax and let the drs and nurses help you and you can help them by eating, drinking and taking your meds, and that will be the route to you getting well and getting discharged from hospital.

ThisIsANiceCage · 22/02/2011 20:05

But you've been failing to take meds for weeks now. So compliance is an issue.

The good news is, if it's a behavioural issue rather than a strictly clinical one then the solution is in your own hands: you can chose to cost the NHS less money by changing your behaviour and complying, until they trust you and put you back on the cheaper drugs.

Not being trusted is horrid. Coercion is horrid. But going along is your only route through this. Sorry. Sad

snowmash · 22/02/2011 20:22

I know I have to comply - used to work with adolescents on sec 3 who got IM injections due tonon compliance... It's the guilt and anxiety.

OP posts:
ThisIsANiceCage · 22/02/2011 20:32

Oh that must have been really hard work. Sounds like they were lucky to have you to supporting them.

Did any of them also feel guilty about accepting care? What would you say to them if they did?

(But I know, it never feels the same for oneself, does it? Why is that?)

shodatin · 22/02/2011 20:34

Guilt and anxiety are also part of depression snowmash, so will lessen in time as you're taking the anti-ds.
Glad you've seen the consultant now, and he must trust you a bit if he's not planning to see you for a week.
Did you have any food this evening snowmash?

snowmash · 22/02/2011 20:43

They only do weekly ward rounds - will see junior doc as needed My lack of eating was commented on :(

Not surprised you delayed telling us.... Is it that the food's poor, or are you just not interested at present?
It's a shame you're not enjoying the food as you don't have to cook it.

Today's taken a lot of energy, so time to say goodnight, will stop nagging snowmash about food and start again tomorrow.

Hope you have a peaceful sleep snowmash, and wake up with a good appetite.

Night all .

madmouse · 22/02/2011 23:32

Snowmash personally I think that if they make it totally impossible for you to not take your meds even if they know why you object that you can stop feeling guilty about it, because it is not a decision you are taking.

And yes please eat. Please. The money that I do my shopping with doesn't come from the NHS, it comes from my Law Centre and from the Churh of England (dh's employer) sooooo...what can I send you? :)

ThisIsANiceCage · 23/02/2011 01:36

Gosh, didn't realise the time. Blush

Hope you're all tucked up and asleep - including Pixie Leaf's twins! Shodatin, hope tomorrow is easier on you, and madmouse hope it was a good slobby weekend-Tuesday. snowmash well done for getting some dinner inside you.

shodatin · 23/02/2011 10:31

Glad the twins are nearly there - are these matching teeth they're cutting?
