Ah, sorry - xxx would be blood tests coming back worse. Just the Docs tone of voice made me question the voluntariness.

Feel floppy now, first for me.

Definitely fingers crossed for your bloods being OK. Smile This is ongoing, isn't it? You mentioned there were potential problems with drug/illness combinations.

Hope you have somewhere comfy to flop, at least.

I know poorly = hospital, but I'm not I'll like some of the people here, I'm just depressed.

OP posts:
ThisIsANiceCage · 21/02/2011 20:42

Yep, depressed is a medical condition. Lots of us here have had it. Full on drugs, hospital, therapies, etc.

NanaNina · 21/02/2011 20:44

Snowmash - depression is an illness. If you are on an acute ward there will be people with other types of mental illness, and sometimes it upset me to see people who I thought were more poorly than me, but believe me they don't take you into hospital unless there is a good reason.

snowmash · 21/02/2011 21:02

It'sthe section that bugs me too - why didn't they ask if I wanted to go voluntarily?

OP posts:
shodatin · 21/02/2011 21:25

snowmash - I don't think you were well enough to get a choice. It's nobody's fault, but they had to make sure you'd survive. Still do.

ThisIsANiceCage · 21/02/2011 21:27

Yeh, compulsion no fun. Would you stay in voluntarily now, after assessment?

They could monitor you during the grim bit until the meds stabilise?

snowmash · 21/02/2011 21:38

I've been reading and they can compel me to have treatment?!?

No, but it looks like they should have asked. I'd leave now given the choice (or perhaps after I see consultant)

OP posts:
shodatin · 21/02/2011 22:02

Best to talk to consultant really, when he has results from latest bloods he might be able to give you more information.

I realise it's not fun being there, but am pretty sure you will eventually understand why you're in.

madmouse · 21/02/2011 22:13

snowmash let's turn it around why don't you think you should be in the hospital?

I've said it before - I think you need to be in hospital because you lack insight in how ill you are and that means you cannot look after yourself at the moment.

I have a feeling that your blood values may be showing that you are ketonic, ie a biological reaction to not eating enough. The way to avoid the drip is eating and drinking fluid. Please do it xx

snowmash · 21/02/2011 22:27

I guess I shouldn't be because I am no worse than many many other people in terms of sadness - there aren't many beds for the whole of o&b (and they're not full by any means).

And what on earth do I do if dr x doesn't say I can go tomorrow?
I have a chaplain anxiously enquiring how my nonexistent day surgery went and when can he see me (least of my problems, but...). I also have a mother who thinks I'll be let out tomorrow.

Failing even more

OP posts:
Pixielovescake · 21/02/2011 22:35

Snowmash im not sure this is just about you being sad. Its to do with not being able to look after yourself , not eating enough or not feeling you can take medicine that you need.
When are you seeing the consultant tomorrow ?
I can understand you are upset and dont want to be in hospital but i think it might be the best thing for you at the moment.

Pixielovescake · 21/02/2011 22:36

On and you arent failing at all. You re just ill. Its not like you can help it any more than you could help a broken leg.

snowmash you are not failing at anything. Try to let them look after you for a bit. Other people like the chaplain and your mother will look after themselves...

shodatin · 21/02/2011 22:53

Glad you still have sense of humour about the chaplain. There's probably another patient wondering where he's got to.

Your mother will understand if you have to stay in, and other people will organise things for you if necessary (including any of us but probably madmouse).

All you have to do is eat and drink and take the meds at present, and the future will take care of itself.

ThisIsANiceCage · 21/02/2011 22:54

Wot everyone just said.

shodatin · 21/02/2011 23:30

Have to go now, so will say Goodnight and sleep well, snowmash in particular. Hope it's a peaceful night.
