Anything I can do to help?
Hope you're not too tired and confused.

snowmash · 16/02/2011 17:39

I just tried sleeping after I typed.

I think she's not thinking quite straight, because I explained lots but she kept saying no to the money and other things.

It is difficult because she said the psych would be expecting to see me on Friday and would be disappointed if I didn't come, but I can't go because it's NHS. I knew going was wrong, but it sounds like not going is wrong too (the other choice was going to the hospital today, which was even more wrong).

She took some of my tablets away, but said I should be taking them which is confusing.

She said I should eat.

She said some things that are my fault aren't (the micropore rash and an infection), and gave me prescriptions for those which I can't go and get because I don't pay for my prescriptions.

She did write a list of the important things which was kind.

I can imagine you're tired after all that - can you have a little nap to recharge?

Please see the psych on Friday, if not the hospital - Pixie's right about the appointments
(and I know GP's right about the food!)

snowmash · 16/02/2011 17:58

I must have left the gp's at 3pm ish from the time I posted. I must have gone in to see her soon after 1pm. I did sit outside and get in the way of the babies for part of that, but it means she must have seen me for much longer than she should (because she wanted to talk to the psych so she waited for her to ring her back then called me back in).

Maybe that's why she took some of my tablets away.

I don't think there's an accessible chemist close that doesn't know I'm exempt (if that makes any sense).

Whew, sounds like a very full and tiring discussion.

Maybe, like me with the rabies jab, you now just have to bite the bullet and accept help, and look forwards to the time when you can give a little back one way or another.

Pixie, agree that skipping appointments probably doesn't save the NHS money.

Anyway, well done for making it through all that, snowmash.

ThisIsANiceCage · 16/02/2011 18:14

Re pharmacists - I bet if you say, "Oh I'm paying for scripts now," they'll accept with barely a murmur.

And there's a prepayment certificate for people who don't get free prescriptions: www.ppa.org.uk/ppa/ppcdd/patient.do

I'm medically exempt from prescription charges (before anyone says anything, I know it's not fair). The chemist are used to writing the back for me because of my rubbishness at using a pen. Maybe I should see if there is one somewhere else in the city.

Looking at the antibiotics makes me think I should get those (7 days of co-amoxiclav 500/125 three times a day which will make me ill but suggests I should take them). Confused :(

I hope you have a good dinner, TIANC

Pixie , I'm still trying to work out food.

ThisIsANiceCage · 16/02/2011 19:15

Kale and left over bacon knuckle.

How's yours going? (I sometimes have a cracker while deciding on dinner, otherwise too hungry to think.)

ThisIsANiceCage · 16/02/2011 19:22

So do your carers not do errands for you, then? Mine fills my scripts while doing her own shopping - or occasionally spends her scheduled time filling them if it's urgent. Blush

snowmash · 16/02/2011 19:24

That sounds nice :)

I'm going to look for those hovis biscuits (didn't open them in the end). Hard to think when you're not hungry too.

OP posts:
snowmash · 16/02/2011 19:29

They could, TIANC, but I don't want them to think I'm ill - they just think I'm tired (plus my GP tends to write antibiotic prescriptions as take xxx for condition, and it's embarassing)...plus I'd still know I wasn't paying for them. Maybe I need a slap.

Hey hey, what's this about slaps? Nooo, no slaps for snowmash.

But how annoying that the GP is so explicit. Um, would it work to put the prescription in an envelope with cash for the charge - or just fold and sellotape it. You can tell the carer you just want a bit of privacy - they should understand. People have prescriptions for all sorts, they won't psychically know it's X.

Anyway, that's just a thought - not saying it's the answer for you.

ThisIsANiceCage · 16/02/2011 19:41

Actually I'm a hopeless cook. Not good in the execution, that's my problem. Smile

What are you feeding the ravening horde, Pixie?
