All are welcome!

We’re a friendly group that uses Fasting in one form or another to help or maintain our weight loss. We all have our ups and downs, and welcome insights from others and laughter along the way.

Summer's round the corner so let's enjoy getting our bodies ready for June, whatever that means to each of us!

Fridays are our informal day for weighing-in (optional) and reflecting on the week – often with ideas for self-care and new goals in the coming week.

We cheer each other on, and commiserate when things don't go to plan.

If you’re new to this group, do introduce yourself and share your hopes and plans.

And welcoming regulars to our new thread...

Agh, phone problems, third attempt writing this!

Thank you @loveyouradvice I'm in dire need of a reset. This morning I weighed 85kg. For a particular reason, I need to be 72kg. I might need to post every day for quite a while to reestablish my commitment to good health. Day one will be 01 May and I won't eat anything before 11:00 am or after 7 pm. I've not been well so not exercising, but tomorrow I will walk at least 5000 steps, and maybe if I'm feeling well enough I will restart couch to 5K.

I'm slightly hating myself for getting back into bad food habits that I don't even enjoy.

So I need to be my own best friend, and checking in here every day is a good way to do that. For me, exercise is a good partner to eating well. I rarely eat this badly if I'm exercising.

My sock drawer is very orderly too, and I have a preferred way of folding pants ☺️ 72kg is an agreed weight between me and a surgeon to give me the best chance of recovering well from surgery. When I'm closer I won't mind sharing more.

Thank you for the new thread @loveyouradvice

@StealthilyEmbraceTheSilkyBeans I love the image of you lunging into the thread! I am terrible for talking to myself but in supermarkets mainly for some reason - last time our painter decorator was next to me and I realised too late after some random muttering about carrots so I had to pretend not to have seen him the whole way round the supermarket.

@HarpQuartet i could probably do with daily checkins too and will try to log my weight each Friday. I am so cross with myself for the same reason but we can get the scales going down again.

😂 you will need another name change to slinky lemur. Next time I am tempted to eat sweets I will picture that possum!

HarpQuartet · 01/05/2025 07:47

@Clearingaspace that made me laugh about the carrot-muttering.

I've just done the first jog-walk of week 2 of couch to 5k, coughing like a Dickens consumptive but WOW my body enjoyed it after two weeks of slumping.

That’s amazing @HarpQuartet - it must have felt awful but hopefully the run worked some chest clearing magic and runs will quickly get easier again now.

@StealthilyEmbraceTheSilkyBeans - I know why didn’t I just say oh hello and move on - I will have to live with the cringe ..

Clearingaspace · 01/05/2025 09:12

Oh just to add, I am happy that my New thread May 1 weigh in was 199.5 - now to move the scale to stone so I can stop yo-yoing in and out of the 200s.

loveyouradvice · 01/05/2025 11:26

Cheering you on @HarpQuartet on your first day - and yes, do do use this thread for accountability. It really helped me posting on here daily over Christmas/New Year. Well looking forward to your updates and giving you lots of encouragement and support.

What's been your first meal after 11? Huge congrats on being in your SECOND week of C5K: sounds great, and all the more impressive for the consumptive coughing. I'm SO glad your body is embracing it. And I so agree, when I'm looking after my body with exercise it is so much easier to make healthier choices

Becoming our own best friends feels key to our success - I love @StealthilyEmbraceTheSilkyBeans talking out loud to herself. I do the same. I almost coach myself sometimes by saying things out loud like You know you can do hard things... let's make a choice you feel proud of here. And I'm often using "delay, don't deny" mantra in my head if I'm tempted - telling myself I can have it tomorrow if I really want it, and I usually don't!

I hope you can truly savour feeling very proud of yourself @HarpQuartet each day you move powerfully towards your goals. As we all know, it is not easy and embracing the challenge and winning feels SO good!

@Clearingaspace That's so great ... starting on 1 May with a number in the hundreds, not 200s!! And do let us know if/when you decide to do daily checkins on here for a bit - Congrats on committing to weekly Friday weigh-ins. You can do this! I know what a strong woman you are, and will be rooting for your success.

Loved the carrot-muttering too - that is SO me!!

Oh @StealthilyEmbraceTheSilkyBeans what would we do without you?

That pic of the possum is priceless! I love its somnolent, yup, I did it, I'm just going to have a snooze now peeps ... to build up energy to eat some more!

Yes, slinky lemurs here we come - Dancing our way through summer with increasingly fit and slinky bodies! With a cutlass and pirate patch thrown in, and peeing the odd mango along the way...

So today is Day 5 for you - Huge congrats on doing the full FMD! Looking forward to hearing what it's done for your weight and health by D6, which is wonderfully, coincidentally our weigh in day!!

@loveyouradvice i think I am going to go back to properly logging my weight on Fridays - I used to find that really motivating. I might also try to log some NSVs for when weightloss inevitably falters. I am also going to log my waist at the beginning and end of the thread as it is currently in the ‘speak to GP’ range of more than half my height.

IDareSay · 01/05/2025 14:10

I'm back on it after a month off where I hoped to just stay the same. That did not happen Grin

Hardly surprising really as 'occasional' treats became daily treats and I have managed to gain a couple of kilos. I'm fairly certain that one will come off easily as it is just reflecting a cake and ice cream heavy few days, (and last night's fish and chips!) but I must commit to getting back to my previous lowest weight by the end of this month.

I'm tracking everything from now on and will be returning to my 16:8 fasting habit, lowering my calorie intake gradually over the next few days.

So goal for end of May is 66.5kg or at least somewhere in the 66's!

ItRainsItPours · 01/05/2025 15:18

Hello all, I am checking in here thanks for the new thread. I am on day two with no stomach medicine and fingers crossed no pain so far. I will give it a week and then see if I am able to fast again.
Love the naughty possum, I suspect dh would recognise the expression on his face from me on the sofa with an empty biscuit packet.

HarpQuartet · 01/05/2025 15:20

Hola gang, in the end I didn't eat until 1.15. I was at a Banana Tree and had a "tapas" mix and it was very nice. Then I had a Mr Tom's peanut bar and some peanut M&Ms so still a bit of work to do there. Almost 10,000 steps.

Will finish dinner by 7 as per the plan. Need to quash my post-meal sugar habit.

Instagram keeps showing me a TV doctor and why he eats three dates a day, worth a try 👍
