I've over indulged this weekend - no fruit or veg and feeling bloated and heavy. Will see out the bank holiday weekend and weigh early next week - getting back on track.

Need to work on getting to goal to focus on maintenance.

Hope your weekends are going well.

Hi. Hope it's ok to join this thread. I'm at an all time low and have 6.5 stone to get back to my pre children weight 😭
I have spent most of my adult life on a diet, but have never tried 5:2 and I'm hoping a miracle will happen as I am at my heaviest and unhappiest 😔
Fast day will be tomorrow. I would be grateful for any tips!

Smartmove · 02/06/2024 15:03

Welcome @DaisyDazzle ! I first read it as u being 6.5 stone - was about to comment u r on wrong thread!!!

mine is part baby weight too. Don’t worry it will come off with some consistency!

have u read the MM books?

I think is ur new to fasting choose the best hours based on your life (kids work etc) start with 12 hours and then add an hour every now and then. Build up then. I manage 17ish but struggle with more

eat med food with lots of veg!

DaisyDazzle · 02/06/2024 15:04

Just reading through your posts and interested in your experiences of fast800. I have been reading the book and the promise of fast weight loss sounds very appealing!

@Smartmove thank you. I have read the fast800 book and also have the vegetarian 5:2 book to read next. I am new to fasting but it sounds managable. I eat breakfast, but out of habit more than anything! I am not usually hungry, so hoping I can make my first meal at lunch time.
I also have a Gousto box arriving tomorrow with low calorie meals. I have got into the habit of quick freezer foods and need to shake everything up and form new habits!

Serialcatmum · 02/06/2024 16:05

Enjoy your holiday @Bubbles44 ! I had a little break too and it felt good! But also good to get back in the swing on things Thursday when I returned!

ohh who is the Stephen’s podcast yi mentioned? I’ve listened to the fast 800 book on audible but that’s it!

Serialcatmum · 02/06/2024 16:09

@DaisyDazzle - I did the fast800 for 5 weeks before my holidays. Massive losses and I quite enjoyed it but it’s not doable (and shouldn’t be anyway!) doable for extended times.

advantages: weight loss and not being obsessed thinking about food.

disadvantages: smelly breath 😂, judgy people, no tasty treats!!!

DaisyDazzle · 02/06/2024 16:18

@Serialcatmum massive losses sound good! Especially as I have so much to lose.
How much did you lose in the 5 weeks you did it? That's an impressive amount of time to stick with it and giving me hope that I can manage a couple of weeks at least!
I've got some Slimfast shakes to have for some lunches to make things easier.

Smartmove · 02/06/2024 17:19

Right closing on 1330 but carbs too high due to icecream. Must do better tmrw!!
plan is 3 days of 900 cals and then reasses.

I lost 20pound between 11th March and the 30th March…

I’ve then went on holiday for a week and lost a further 10 pound. Not weighed myself since my holiday this week! Hoping to have at least got back to the weight I was pre holiday.

DaisyDazzle · 02/06/2024 18:03

@Serialcatmum wow!! 😮 that is incredible!! I had no idea it could work as well as that! Well done, you must be so pleased and feeling amazing!
Thank you for sharing, you've honestly really encouraged me and I can't wait to get going with it!

Bubbles44 · 03/06/2024 06:20

Good day yesterday. Run, fasted until 5. Enjoyed food. A couple of deserts lots of fruit. Woke up today feeling so much better.

@Serialcatmum gin Stephens. She had a couple of books about intermittent fasting and her podcast intermittent fasting stories is fab. She is so relatable and her guests have such varied stories and approaches to fasting it really got me into fasting. Recommend it to anyone that will listen to me 😂.

Hi @DaisyDazzle

Hope you all have a great week on plan. My plan is to enjoy holiday but be mindful as i don’t want holiday blues and a massive weight gain. Think about my future self. Easier said than done!

hollyblueivy · 03/06/2024 07:31

Morning all and welcome to @DaisyDazzle, it's good to have you here. What is your plan for this week?

I overdid it yesterday and say a 3.3lb gain today so weighed at 11:1:9 - disappointing as didn't want to go over 11 stone but only have myself to blame.

Monday to Thursday is a reset week for me and I'm actually looking forward to getting back into the swing of things.

Coffee for breakfast and plenty of water through the day (at least 1.5L)
Protein based lunch and dinner, high on fruit veg and salad and low on carbs where possible
No snacking!!
Exercise at least 3 times - gym or run

Aim for Friday will be 10:11:00 so I think that's about 5lb off (?!) but hoping the first couple will drop quickly.

Smartmove · 03/06/2024 07:40

Morning @hollyblueivy i also went a little bannnas yest! Ended up eating too much so im
10.8 today !!!! Eeek!
am resetting myself and have hidden all dark choc and no icecream left in freezer. Planning on popping some chewing in when I need something after a meal (habit for me to want that).

low cal low carb long fasts
next social sat-will def be 10.5 for then as some of this is water weight but love to be 10.4 something

Serialcatmum · 03/06/2024 11:14

I’ll look for the podcast- thanks!!!

Sundays are always my weakness! I start of strong with 1.5 hour workout but then I’m ravenous all day! Broke my fast at 14 hours (usually do 16/17 hours at the weekend!) but I did go over by 300 calories- makes up for the 600 o was short Friday I suppose!

Im going to attempt another 48 hours fast this week. I did it a few weeks ago and felt GREAT.

800 calories day for me today and I’ll fast until 6pm ish so I can basically eat till shower and bed time 😂

DaisyDazzle · 03/06/2024 13:56

Thank you all for the welcome messages.
I've managed a 15hr fast and on an 800 calorie day. Didn't actually feel hungry until almost 12, so that shows me I've been having breakfast out of habit!
Had a slimfast shake at lunch which was surprisingly nice and having my first low calorie Gousto meal tonight.
Feeling good so far, I just hope I stick with it!

Serialcatmum · 03/06/2024 14:38

Sending positive vibes your way for your first 800 fasting day @DaisyDazzle xx

Smartmove · 03/06/2024 17:10

Ending on 1000 and 30g carbs. Hopefully a drop tmrw closer to goal!
well done @DaisyDazzle i wish I could do 800 but I just can’t!

DaisyDazzle · 03/06/2024 20:29

Well I managed to end on 920 calories, so pretty pleased! I think it's actually a bit under that, as I couldn't finish the Gousto meal, I was shocked!
I felt full really quickly. Does that happen to anyone else?

hollyblueivy · 03/06/2024 22:32

@Serialcatmum How do you manage to do a 48 hour fast?! I was thinking about maybe trying to fast tomorrow but I've prepped my lunch now so I might just try to have a one meal day and only have the lunch.

@DaisyDazzle You've smashed today, well done you must be feeling great. Take the good days and wins where you can!

My day has been very average, no exercise and super low steps. Could have done better but glad to have got through the first day back in routine after half term.

OP posts:
Serialcatmum · 04/06/2024 05:18

I finished the day on 811 cals and did an (albeit short) gym session.

i exercise before work on a Tuesday/ Friday so I’m up now and about do a 40 min work out.

@hollyblueivy, I’ve only done the 1 48 hour fast and it was quite easy last time but I did it on a day where I’m super busy and don’t get home till 8ish and then just had lots of water and went to bed! Will see how it goes this time and let you know!

Some days a super average day is what’s needed.

it’s another 800 cal day for me today so dinner is prepped (cottage pie is 500) and I’ll have a salad with some cheese/ olive like drizzle and then a 100 cal treat. I like a time out bar before bed!

Serialcatmum · 04/06/2024 05:19

Yes- I often feel fuller when I’ve fasted. I like the full feeling though 🫣

Smartmove · 04/06/2024 07:25

Wow well done @Serialcatmum

im going to take inspiration and do a 850 cal day

yoghurt fruit
prawn salad
greek salad

10.7.4 today . Still chasing 10.5

Smartmove · 04/06/2024 07:54

Ps @Serialcatmum and @DaisyDazzle do u count ur veg and fruit in ur count?

Serialcatmum · 04/06/2024 08:03

I do count my salad/ veg but loosely! So I had lettuce/ broccoli/ beetroot and tomatoes yesterday but I didn’t weigh them and just added them as a small portion.

Serialcatmum · 04/06/2024 08:03

Good luck @Smartmove ! Xxx
