12 pounds to loose

Smartmove · 07/05/2023 07:22

I’ve done this before during lockdown and got down to a decent weight but slowly gone back up. I keep starting and then doing well and then self sabtogage and gain it all. It’s such a problem. So I’m taking it 1 week at a time. And writing on here to keep me on straight and narrow

day 1
weight 11.6 . Bmi 25.5
goal weight 10.8

this is post 4 days of self sabotage so should come off very quickly I was 11.1 4 days ago so should be water. And then will start slowing down

today plan
brocolli and Stilton soup at 11ish
feta stuffed chicken with a side salad of leaves and avacado at 4ish

I can do this. I usually eat 3 small meals but I ate so much last night I’m not hungry!

Your workouts sound great.

10:9 today

That's what take away and alcohol get me

Need a clean 3lb off this week

jelly79 · 08/10/2023 08:52

10s5.4 fuming!!!

No alcohol and I have chosen well

Brunch out - sourdough, peanut butter and porridge (instead of French toast and syrup etc)
Dinner out - sashimi, edamame and seared meats (no chips / crackers etc)

I had lunch after a 10k walk and had hot sandwiches and chips and felt quite sick for the rest of the day

My problem is this....
Peanut butter Kit Kat chunky
Reeses cups
Orange poppets
Chocolate melts cookies

Silly me!

hollyblueivy · 08/10/2023 21:33

You have done absolutely fantastic with not drinking though. Was you much of a drinker before?

Hopefully the weight is quick on, quick off.

I haven't gone mad today, only had two drinks yesterday and none today so managed to keep to the one day per week alcohol rule. Pleased with that.

Worked out this morning, had an egg and bacon roll for lunch and then soup and roll for dinner.

Latte and a few coffees and only one pint squash.

Spent a couple of hours sunning myself in the garden, that was a treat.

I kind of look forward to Mondays from a diet perspective as I like to draw a line and start afresh.

Ooh yes I loved cocktails and wine and the weekend would be lots of drinks / meals / snacks! I couldn't lose weight like that

hollyblueivy · 11/10/2023 07:20

Lurk away @Smartmove

I totally sympathise with your efforts and there not being much more you can do.

I don't think you should worry too much about not being able to exercise as it will be more about calories consumed than movement.

Keep doing what you're doing, get your protein, fibre and water in - the results will come.

At this point feel like I'll never get to 10:6

@Smartmove I must admit I am with you! I think I will move to maintenance for the rest of the month and pick up the weight loss again in November.

I actually don't have much going on in November and will no doubt have some post holiday weight to lose so hopefully that will keep me focused for a bit leading into Christmas.

If I can maintain around 10:7.5 - 10:9:5 and preferably be no more than 10:12 after holiday I think that should keep me happy.

Getting a bit de motivating keep trying and not getting the results so hopefully be a kick start once November arrives.

Smartmove · 12/10/2023 13:38

It’s really though now! I’ve psychologically switched off a bit as my clothes fit and I’m looking better. But I’m not totally happy at this weight so I know I need to get more off. I was speaking to a collegue of mine who lost 7 stone and kept it off and she said she is good m-f and then eats and drinks everything at weekend to maintain. I think that was working for me to loose but now I need a consistent approach to loose and I can’t be having full days off..

I also have little on in Nov - I have a few dinners but I’m going to not drink. I just have one event I am going to drink at. That should mean no hangover no empty calories and better food choices. And I might up my calories to 1050:1110 which I find easy but just do that all week including weekend instead of
900
and then a ten thousand!!!!

it’s only 6:7 pounds more I want off but finding it impossible to resist temptation atm.

im 10.10 today again! If I leave on holiday on that..obv will gain whilst away. Then come back and hope I get closer to goal by end of Nov.

hollyblueivy · 13/10/2023 07:32

Having clothes fit nicely and feeling good about our bodies as they are is probably a factor in having the weight loss stall too I guess as I'm the same in that I'm a comfortable size 12 and content there. (Although obviously would still like a bit more off!)

I'll continue to check in here just to keep it ticking over and to make sure I don't let things slide too far the other way.

Today 10:8:6
Maintenance bracket 10:7 - 10:9

jelly79 · 13/10/2023 09:00

Weighed in reluctantly at 10s 4.4 which is 1 on for 2 weeks in a row.

I need them 2 off this week to feel better for holiday!

Moving / hydration / limit sugar!

I think I'm the same, feel happier in my clothes and holiday looming so took my foot off the gas here! Just want the switch to flick back on for the next 10 days to make a difference

Chunkymonkey123 · 13/10/2023 20:25

Hello all! I think being close to your target weight is much harder than being further away in terms of motivation. Plus I think we can all be a bit hard on ourselves. I know when I’m on a diet I look in the mirror and criticise myself and when I go off track I tell myself off in a way that I would never to a friend but in reality you are probably a healthy weight with a figure that most people would love to have!

I’m 10.9.2 this morning which is moving VERY slowly in the right direction, back now to my pre august holiday weight 🤦‍♀️
But this is a long term thing (hopefully) so I’m trying not to be all or nothing about it as I end up binging. If I was 10.5 at Christmas I would be happy so that’s the next aim.

Smartmove · 13/10/2023 20:53

Well done @Chunkymonkey123
ive also sorted stayed similar to u. So 10.9.5 which is what I was in august!
I fly tmrw so expecting a 4/5 pound gain tbh…..then back to smash it in Nov!

Agree with everything you're all saying. Think we're all on the same page at the moment.

@Smartmove Have a great holiday - where are you off to?

I was 10:8:6 today - three days running. That's fine

Cherryblossom81 · 15/10/2023 10:10

Hello. I've just discovered this thread. Hope it's ok to post (although not read the full thread)?

I just wondered whether people generally find 5:2 is better than something like 16:8 every day? Is there anyone here who's had success with fasting for helping when you don't have loads of weight to lose and/or you are not very talk?

I'm very short and weigh 8 stone 7, so I'm aware this is still healthy BMI but I have just realised I have gained about 10 pounds over the last year (mainly showing on my tummy) and really keen to lose this but it's proving quite tricky, especially as my daily calorie requirements are already pretty low due to being so short. Hope that makes sense?

Cherryblossom81 · 15/10/2023 10:15

Also, just to add to the above - I'm thinking some form of intermittent fasting eg. 16:8 might be best. Has anyone found that an earlier or later window is more effective? Sorry - lots of questions! There's so much contradictory information online about intermittent fasting, I thought it might be better to ask for real life stories on here.

hollyblueivy · 16/10/2023 07:46

Hi Cherry welcome,

I think the 5:2 and/or 16:8 approach is probably a give it a try and see how you get on. I don't do 5:2 but that doesn't mean it may not be a good idea for you and to be fair, I could probably do with a day or two where I restrict my calories more.

I only really eat lunch and dinner so naturally have a restricted eating window but I do kind of cheat as I have a coffee with milk in the morning.

How much do you want to lose?

I was 10:7:5 today

Cherryblossom81 · 16/10/2023 10:12

@hollyblueivy Thank you for the reply. I'd ideally like to lose around 10 pounds. I seem to have gradually gained this over the past year and had a bit of a wake up call yesterday when I realised I am 10 pounds heavier than this time last year. I hadn't really realised I was gaining and want to stop this before it gets worse!

I have always been between 7 stone 4 and 7 stone 10 (I know that doesn't sound a lot but is completely right for my height). I was 8 stone 7 when I weighed yesterday.
