16:8 I need to lose at least 5 stone

Whichcatthatcat · 23/01/2022 10:09

Please help me. I've done this diet before, lost a stone or so but gradually put most of it back on.

I'm starting today and need company/ motivation etc.

Anyone want to join me?

Hi @Whichcatthatcat! I started 16/8 almost a month ago, looking to shed the few kg I've put on since the pandemic started.

I've stuck to it 80% of the days and have lost half a kg. Not much, but it's progress. And I'm only looking to lose 3-4 kg in total.

Oddly enough, after the first week or so, I found my appetite go down even within the eating window. I no longer crave sugar as much. So all in all it seems to be a rather sustainable lifestyle.

Sundancerintherain · 23/01/2022 10:17

I'll join in, I started ab ad hoc 16/8 a week ago, need to loose 2 1/2 stone to scrape into healthy BMI .

Whichcatthatcat · 23/01/2022 10:19

Thanks. I hope to check I here daily, to help keep me on track.
Welcome hacer and sundancer.

Was wondering, I find it hard to get used to black coffee in the morning so I've been having it with a little milk (50 ml maybe?). Would that set me back in terms of weight loss?

Cocolapew · 23/01/2022 10:22

I'm starting this from tonight. I did it a few years ago and lost about a stone.

donkeyhottie · 23/01/2022 10:25

I'll join! I started last week to try to shift my baby weight. I've lost the 4lbs I put on over Christmas, but I often find I have a decent loss in the first week but then quickly plateau/get bored/fall off the wagon! Determined to do it this time as I really want to feel better about how I look before I go back to work.

I haven't been worrying too much about what I eat in the 8 hour window but I think I need to start being more mindful. I'm also trying to be more active.

Whichcatthatcat · 23/01/2022 11:23

I did have milk in my tea during the 16 hours. But nothing else

I did it a while back and after a few cups of black coffee which I've never drunk in my life I got used to it. I actually prefer it now. It took about 3/4 cups though
Cocolapew · 23/01/2022 19:12

Ok that's me until 10.15 tomorrow, good luck everyone!

Whichcatthatcat · 23/01/2022 19:18

Good luck, cocolapew, I'm staring at 8pm, lunch at 12 tomorrow.

Whichcatthatcat · 24/01/2022 17:35

How did everyone get on? I managed to fast for 16.5 hours.

My problem will be not eating after 8pm tonight. I eat when I'm bored.

I've started the 16/8 diet a week ago and im super happy to see I've lost 3.5lbs. I work from home and I'm very busy during the day so I'm actually not eating till 2.30pm. Which is suiting me fine. I have a fried egg, no oil and then my tea. And usually a protein yogurt and some fruit and by the its bed!

Whichcatthatcat · 24/01/2022 18:02

Is that enough food? I know ots a diet, bit tgat sounds like a tiny amount.

It sounds like it's working, though, so well done.

I ate at 11, had some lunch at 2ish which is late for me. I like my dinner at 5 but wasn't hungry enough so had some Mini Eggs Blush.
That's me for the night now.

Rodedooda · 24/01/2022 19:58

There's a long running thread on IF on the weight loss chat - I'm not on it but was thinking about starting properly today, and if you don't mind I'd like to join you all co newbies here.
2/3 stone to lose, I'm trying to move more too. 2021 wasn't a great year in all sorts of ways.

I've been reading up on the milk in tea/coffee - plenty people say as long as it's just a dash/under 50 cals and if it helps compliance then it's ok. I don't think I could survive without my morning cuppa!

I'm not planning to calorie count, but will try to cut out sugar/processed food as much as possible.

Got dinner out this weekend so I'll have to forgo one 16h fast - I don't think I can wait until mid afternoon to eat...

I think ill bring the time forward once I've lost some more weight. I just really needed something to kick start it. I didn't even bother this much for my wedding but it's my 40th soon and I really want to feel confident for it!
cheninblanc · 24/01/2022 21:29

Can I join I need to start again and be much stricter with myself! Need to to loose 2 stone

Whichcatthatcat · 24/01/2022 22:55

The more the merrier, cheninblanc.

I think I need to go to sleep now, or I'll start eating.

Yes - sounds good. I need to join too - have a good 4 stone to lose, but seem to have completely lost my off switch for food currently. Mainly sweet stuff so hoping if I can kick the sugar habit I will feel better all round.

Tuirseach · 25/01/2022 00:46

Can I please join aswell? starting from today, I also have about 5 stone to lose, my eating window with 16:8 I usually 10 - 6 pm

Rodedooda · 25/01/2022 09:20

I set my stopwatch on my phone last night straight after dinner, it's quite a satisfying feeling to see the time approaching the 16 hour mark!

I know it's too soon for anything close to meaningful but this morning I am 0.4 kg down on yesterday morning.

HacerSonarSusPasos · 25/01/2022 09:49

@Rodedooda as an alternative to the stopwatch you can also use the Zero app to plan and time your fasts

Whichcatthatcat · 25/01/2022 13:33

I'm also using the zero app. It's good cos it reminds me when to start the fasting.

Whichcatthatcat · 25/01/2022 20:23

Has everyone started thier fast tonight?

OP posts:
HacerSonarSusPasos · 25/01/2022 20:32

Started at 6 pm today. When the hunger pangs start I'll know it's time to go to bed Grin
