Whichcatthatcat · 23/01/2022 10:09

Please help me. I've done this diet before, lost a stone or so but gradually put most of it back on.

I'm starting today and need company/ motivation etc.

Anyone want to join me?

Hi @Whichcatthatcat! I started 16/8 almost a month ago, looking to shed the few kg I've put on since the pandemic started.

I've stuck to it 80% of the days and have lost half a kg. Not much, but it's progress. And I'm only looking to lose 3-4 kg in total.

Oddly enough, after the first week or so, I found my appetite go down even within the eating window. I no longer crave sugar as much. So all in all it seems to be a rather sustainable lifestyle.

Was wondering, I find it hard to get used to black coffee in the morning so I've been having it with a little milk (50 ml maybe?). Would that set me back in terms of weight loss?

I'm starting this from tonight. I did it a few years ago and lost about a stone.

I'll join! I started last week to try to shift my baby weight. I've lost the 4lbs I put on over Christmas, but I often find I have a decent loss in the first week but then quickly plateau/get bored/fall off the wagon! Determined to do it this time as I really want to feel better about how I look before I go back to work.

I haven't been worrying too much about what I eat in the 8 hour window but I think I need to start being more mindful. I'm also trying to be more active.

I did have milk in my tea during the 16 hours. But nothing else

I did it a while back and after a few cups of black coffee which I've never drunk in my life I got used to it.
I actually prefer it now. It took about 3/4 cups though

How did everyone get on? I managed to fast for 16.5 hours.

My problem will be not eating after 8pm tonight. I eat when I'm bored.

I've started the 16/8 diet a week ago and im super happy to see I've lost 3.5lbs. I work from home and I'm very busy during the day so I'm actually not eating till 2.30pm. Which is suiting me fine. I have a fried egg, no oil and then my tea. And usually a protein yogurt and some fruit and by the its bed!

Is that enough food? I know ots a diet, bit tgat sounds like a tiny amount.
It sounds like it's working, though, so well done.

I ate at 11, had some lunch at 2ish which is late for me. I like my dinner at 5 but wasn't hungry enough so had some Mini Eggs Blush.
That's me for the night now.

There's a long running thread on IF on the weight loss chat - I'm not on it but was thinking about starting properly today, and if you don't mind I'd like to join you all co newbies here.
2/3 stone to lose, I'm trying to move more too. 2021 wasn't a great year in all sorts of ways.

I've been reading up on the milk in tea/coffee - plenty people say as long as it's just a dash/under 50 cals and if it helps compliance then it's ok. I don't think I could survive without my morning cuppa!

I'm not planning to calorie count, but will try to cut out sugar/processed food as much as possible.

Got dinner out this weekend so I'll have to forgo one 16h fast - I don't think I can wait until mid afternoon to eat...

I think ill bring the time forward once I've lost some more weight. I just really needed something to kick start it. I didn't even bother this much for my wedding but it's my 40th soon and I really want to feel confident for it!

Yes - sounds good. I need to join too - have a good 4 stone to lose, but seem to have completely lost my off switch for food currently. Mainly sweet stuff so hoping if I can kick the sugar habit I will feel better all round.

I set my stopwatch on my phone last night straight after dinner, it's quite a satisfying feeling to see the time approaching the 16 hour mark!

I know it's too soon for anything close to meaningful but this morning I am 0.4 kg down on yesterday morning.

@Rodedooda as an alternative to the stopwatch you can also use the Zero app to plan and time your fasts

I'm also using the zero app. It's good cos it reminds me when to start the fasting.
