Please help me. I've done this diet before, lost a stone or so but gradually put most of it back on.

I'm starting today and need company/ motivation etc.

Anyone want to join me?

I've just signed up with zero

Whichcatthatcat · 25/01/2022 20:43

Sounds like a good plan, Hacer.

I can't eat that early, so i started at 730. Seeing as I often don't have dinner till after 10, that will be my challenging time.

How's everyone finding it? I'm not doing too bad. I work in a school and usually have break around 10.15 but I'm in a different class this week and haven't had it until after 11 and a later lunch.
I doing ok with that so might drop my break when I'm back in my class, as I would have lunch around 12.15 usually.

Tuirseach · 25/01/2022 22:13

So I started today! I have dinner at 5 with the kids so I generally remember to go to the app sometime before 6 to officially start the fast, I have had a cup if tea with a teaspoon of milk in it though so im going to start trying to wean myself off that over the next week,

Whichcatthatcat · 25/01/2022 22:19

I've followed Hacers advice and gone to bed to stop me eating from habit/boredness.

Rodedooda · 26/01/2022 09:38

Also starting using the zero app last night.

Bit of a fail - started fast at 7pm then DD got in from her activity at 9, she hadn't finished her dinner from earlier, but didn't want it and I absentmindedly hoovered it up. So had to reset Confused fast start time! Also an insight to why I need to lose weight...

FuckingCheatingWanker · 26/01/2022 17:11

Anyone who's looking to fast - I have the Fastic app which is great! Really user friendly - I've been fasting for nearly 3 weeks and I'm down 10lbs

Whichcatthatcat · 26/01/2022 20:00

OK, Time to start the next fast.

OP posts:
Tuirseach · 26/01/2022 20:18

So i did my first weigh in this morning and I'm at 14' 5, ideally I would be 9' 3 so I have soooo much to lose! I use the fastic app aswell I find it very easy to use!

Whichcatthatcat · 26/01/2022 20:45

Turisearch, good luck, i have a similar amount to lose, but I'm aiming for smaller steps. I'm 15st 8, aiming for 12 st to begin with. I should be max of 9 st 2 but that will never happen. I'll settle for 10.5

OP posts:
Tuirseach · 26/01/2022 21:49

Thanks @Whichcatthatcat, I know it sounds like such a huge amount when written down but I'm trying not to be overwhelmed by it! if I even got into the twelves for summer I'd be delighted, its definitely a long game for me aswell, I'm thinking I might try and add in one longer fast during the week to help things along, I also tried my first tea with no milk in it this evening and its not quite as bad as I thought it was going to be!

Haroweller · 26/01/2022 22:23

Can I join too please?

Two weeks in and 5.7lb down, using the Fastic app.

Started off wanting to lose 23-30lb. So a long way to go still.

Whichcatthatcat · 26/01/2022 22:27

5.7ln in two weeks, that's fantastic, we'll done.

I've begun thinking in kg instead of lbs and st. I find the numbers less scary cos I don't understand them quite as well. :)
So if I can lose 1 kg I'll be happy. Weigh in day is Sunday for me.

BlissfullyIgnorant · 26/01/2022 23:16

Can I join in? I need to lose 11kg but once I can lose the first 6kg I can start to attempt some exercise Grin
What's the best app for this?

Angrymum22 · 26/01/2022 23:30

I started about a week ago. Partly to lose weight but mainly to reduce carbs. I find it easy because I’m not a breakfast eater. I have a simple app that I use to time the fasting and it really helps.
I’m hungry at the moment so know I haven’t overdone the calories today . I manage two meals a day but don’t have to think about calories. The fasting doesn’t increase your appetite if you don’t graze. But to maintain weight loss it has to become a way of life.
It’s not recommended for people who have eating disorders though.
I’ve recently had breast cancer so I want to benefit from the decrease in inflammation that fasting leads to.

Rodedooda · 27/01/2022 10:15

I struggled last night, I don't know if it's because I had dinner early within the kids.

Anyway I got through, and I'm nearly at the end of my first 'clean' fast, two cups of black tea down this morning, and scales down 1kg from Monday, so feeling good Smile

donkeyhottie · 27/01/2022 10:43

I'm using Fastic app too.

As predicted, I think I'm plateauing already. No weight loss for 4 days, although I did start my period yesterday. I'm fasting for 16-18 hours as that's just how it works out. I don't feel like I'm over eating in my eating window. I could try to improve exercise but with a teething baby, it's enough just to get through the day!

Any thoughts from anyone?

Lemonweightloss · 27/01/2022 11:17

@donkeyhottie, morning. I don't have much advice ( I'm actually here for some), but you say no loss for 4 days. Are you weighing everyday? I'd just weigh once a week. Your period will have an impact so there's that. Also, how much are you eating? Is it enough? ( one of my questions actually, see below!!). Are you drinking enough water?
Exercise is difficult with a baby. My baby is 33 now (years), I used to put him in a pram and walk for miles. Could you try that ?
So, morning everyone. I'm on another thread - lose a pound a week which is super, but I need a new approach regarding what plan to follow.

  1. with IF, do people do keto ? I'd rather calorie count I think as keto makes me feel sick. I can limit carbs, just not do away with them completely. So I was thinking 1,500 cals a day. See how I go ( 10kg to lose, max)
  2. I'm ok not eating til 10/ 11 am. Also, I have dinner about 5pm and never want anything else so I'm thinking my 'window' 10am til 6pm. This is correct yes?
  3. Good to hear about the drop of milk in tea. I suffer with insomnia so am often awake through the night. Though I will happily drink fruit teas. I'm presuming these are OK?
  4. I also have a slight (🤣) alcohol problem but I've been doing really well cutting back. I realise this will impact my weight loss. Fortunately if I do drink it would be during the day. I don't eat when drinking ( I know this isn't good and I am working on it).
  5. So, meals, B - probably pitta pizza with rocket tomato etc L - protein salad D - a typical tea like chilli, spaghetti bol, cottage pie. Limit carbs where possible.
  6. I don't have a sweet tooth but if I did want something I'd have 200cals worth ( a kit kat and packet of crisps).
  7. 2 litres of water a day no problem.
  8. Exercise not a problem

I'm sorry if I've derailed or gone on (@!), but I'd really appreciate your views - does this sound right?!!
Thanks in advance!!

Rodedooda · 27/01/2022 11:31

@donkeyhottie honestly 4 days is too soon - think the advice is to weigh every day but take the weekly average? And it's the general downward trend you're looking for rather than daily fluctuations.

@Lemonweightloss I'm too early on to give any advice, other than to say I think it's something I should be able to stick to! There's a longer running 2022 IF thread on this board with some old hands who may be better placed. Good luck!

Lemonweightloss · 27/01/2022 11:37

@Rodedooda, thanks I'll check it out.

Whichcatthatcat · 27/01/2022 20:32

I don't know if it's diet related, or something else, but I'm so tired today.

OP posts:
Tuirseach · 28/01/2022 20:54

All going OK here, although I'm pretty sure I over ate in my window today, finding the 16 hours fine to stick to, I weigh daily but I might log my weight here each Sunday to hold myself accountable!

hunder · 29/01/2022 09:41

Hello, I started 16:8 on Wednesday and have 5st to lose. Going well so far, but nervous about getting through the weekend. We were supposed to be out all morning, but DS2 is poorly so likely to be stuck in for much of the weekend! That's never good for a grazer like me. Got some sparkling water so hoping that will get me through.

Whichcatthatcat · 30/01/2022 08:35

First weigh in. I lost 1kg. (2.2lb)

Not amazing, but I happy with that.
I didn't eat particularly well during my eating window, so if I make more healthy choices next week, hopefully, I will lose more.

How's everyone else doing?

OP posts:
Tuirseach · 30/01/2022 14:28

I generally weigh daily but forgot this morning, but yesterday I came in at 14' 1 so thats 4lb down, I'm ok with that, but I would love to have a really good week coming in, just trying to control my sweet tooth is tricky!
