Please help me. I've done this diet before, lost a stone or so but gradually put most of it back on.

I'm starting today and need company/ motivation etc.

Anyone want to join me?

And to put the above into context, that's about 11 stone.

Winday · 20/02/2022 11:32

Hi everyone, I'd like to join you all as I've just started 16:8 (or something days, 18:6!). I've never really been one for eating breakfast anyway, so that hasn't been difficult to forego. But like a lot of others, I am an evening snacker, or more accurately, binge eater. I'm hoping that fasting, having a strict schedule to my meals, will help. I'm taking it slow in terms of still allowing myself treats during my eating hours, in the hopes that come evening, I won't then want to eat everything in sight. In time I want to tackle cutting down those sweet treats, but for now, I'm happy to tackle the evening eating.

Hope everyone is well!

I'm also still here, 4 weeks in. It's going ok, but we all had covid in the last couple of weeks so progress is slow - 2.2kg to be exact!

I'm taking heart from Gin Stephen's view that you shouldn't expect weight loss in the first 28 days, and this period is to get your body used to fasting.

I have accepted that this is very much going to be a lifestyle, I can manage 18h fasts most days, but still allow for social occasions.

Also I know I can't do low carb, just doesn't fit with family life, but I'm definitely doing lower carb.

Plump82 · 21/02/2022 10:23

2.2lbs lost this week which I'm pleased about as I didn't think I'd get over 2lbs.
Thats a total of 11lbs since I started.
Would love to hit the 1 stone mark for me going on holiday in 3 weeks. I tried on a dress i last wore months ago. I had a photo of it from back then so tried it on again and took another photo and side by side I'm pleased to see a difference.

Hello, can I join in? I’ve just started 16:8 and calorie tracking/noom while I’m doing it. I’ve got at least 3 stone to lose, and having tried noom all summer and come out heavier than I was before 🤷‍♀️ I want to try something else! And I need encouragement as it is really hard. I have IBS with fodmap triggers so I already make most of my food from scratch, but I’m a terrible snacker, especially in the evening. About to start my first full overnight fast, so wish me luck!

Wiegh day tomorrow. Here's hoping....

Hello @solania Welcome and good luck!

I've heard of Noom but I'm not actually sure what it is or how it works. What does it entail? How did your first fast go?

Whichcatthatcat · 27/02/2022 06:27

I hope everyone is well.
I managed 0.9 kg off this week, -almost 2lb.

I'm pleased with that.

The total so far in 5 weeks is 7lb.
Not earth shattering, but reasonable.

No weight loss this week. Really disappointed as I did tonnes of walking last week hoping to lose more. But it's went the opposite way for me 😕

donkeyhottie · 28/02/2022 10:54

@Plump82 I had a week like that when the scale just wasn't shifting at all, but I then had a decent loss the following week. It was almost like a delayed reaction. Don't let it derail you.

Hopefully that happens to me. Normally I'd go and eat a bar of chocolate to console myself but I'm sticking with it!!

Whichcatthatcat · 28/02/2022 12:07

Good attitude, plump, just keep going. You will se the rewards next week.

Was at a wedding at the weekend, scales not a good number yesterday but down more than a kg in 24 hours this morning.

Overall 3.1kg down in 5 weeks, which included getting & recovering from covid.

What I like about this is how little planning I need to do and can fit in the occasional social event without thinking I've eaten a week's calorie allowance so what's the point of continuing Smile

Down a kg in 24 hrs! What's your secret?
Rodedooda · 01/03/2022 17:31

Grin not magic - just the effects of 36 hours of drinking and eating.

Thursday- 79.4 IF
Friday - 79.1 IF day
Saturday & Sunday - fizz wine canapés 3 course meals bacon rolls big breakfast hangover binge
Monday - 80kg & fasting resume
Tuesday - 78.8kg

It was quite a pleasant surprise to be down from friday!

donkeyhottie · 03/03/2022 15:47

I'm having another week when the scale isn't shifting! I had a "day off" on Monday when I met friends for lunch and had a coffee on the train which broke my fast early. We had a three course lunch, but I was so full I didn't eat for the rest of the day. Was straight back on it. I think I need to add in a low kcal day to kickstart it again, but I don't feel I have the willpower for that!

Rodedooda · 04/03/2022 11:35

For the first time when I've attempted any type of healthy eating plan I'm feeling motivated whatever the scales say - encouraged by a loss, motivated to keep going by a slight gain or no change.

And I think it's all down to not feeling I have to calorie count or restrict what I eat.

I had a bad sleep last night so ended up cutting my fast short today, I'm not feeling terrible about it though.

Slow and steady is the hope!

Whichcatthatcat · 06/03/2022 08:35

I put on 1 lb this week. Not a surprise.
But still 5.5lb from when I started

Plump82 · 06/03/2022 09:09

I'm feeling positive about weigh in tomorrow. If I haven't lost anything though I'll be really disheartened as I've been walking everyday around 12k steps and have been super good.
@whichcatthatcat that's a good way of thinking about it though!

Whichcatthatcat · 06/03/2022 09:15

I bought a step counter watch. But I really dont think it's accurate.

Apparently I did 225 steps whilst driving my car on the motorway.

Lol maybe not quite so accurate. My phone has a pedometer and from what I can tell its pretty accurate.
Whichcatthatcat · 06/03/2022 09:44

I'm not allowed to have my phone on me at work, so that's not an option unfortunately.

Och that's a pity.
Plump82 · 07/03/2022 10:33

Well I'm super pleased and proud of myself as I managed to lose 5.7lbs last week and that's me now lost over 1 stone!
