@Threeboysandadog welcome sounds like a great first day!

@EverybodysALebowski oh sorry i was banging on about keto! Makes total sense not to go too low on carbs - love the fact oats are still on plan. Mm actually says in the keto book that med style with higher carbs is better for weight loss longer term for women. I will defo be looking to bring up carbs before the maintenance stage.

@ilovetomatoes urgh hope it shifts soon! Annoyingly I lost 2lb over the weekend only to weigh in this morning bank to Thursday weight.

@Strictlydusting are there any of the foods allowed in small doses that you find have an {ahem} clearing out affect on you? Oats and peanut butter work for me, and also magnesium supplements. Psyllium husks get recommended but you need to drink extra water.

Glad you had fun Phoenix!!

Bad day for me today - I was actually more on it at the weekend - today felt like a real drag in general.

EverybodysALebowski · 18/01/2022 00:32

oh @yumyumpoppycat no don't worry, you weren't banging on. I think the keto version is great for some people and it's interesting to hear about. I was just blathering to explain why I had a high-ish carb day. I actually tend to feel better around 50g carbs/day (and my skin looks much better). Sorry about your bad weekend.

@Strictlydusting agree with poppy cat, a big bowl of oatmeal sometimes gets things moving. Hope all is on the move soon.

yumyumpoppycat · 19/01/2022 19:49

How is everyone doing? I haven't been too bad with what I am eating but calorie counting seems to have gone out the window!! I think it might be psychological cos it's week 3 and that week has a bad rep for weight loss!

Threeboysandadog · 19/01/2022 23:12

I’m hanging in there. I had bought the Keto800 book on kindle but It was inconvenient to follow the recipes so I’ve returned it and bought the paperback which arrived today. So far I’ve mostly been eating chicken and salad or veg. I will try some proper recipes tomorrow.

Hopefully tomorrow is not the day the carb flu starts!

yumyumpoppycat · 20/01/2022 10:16

Good luck today @Threeboysandadog! Let us know if you find any good recipes!

EverybodysALebowski · 20/01/2022 12:02

hey there! I'm hanging in there mostly on target and on plan, although yesterday I caved and ate my feelings in the form of a (very small) chocolate bar. (It was delicious and I'm not sorry.) I am benefitting though from the boost that comes from the W1 rapid drop, so that's helping me keep focused.

Hope everyone is chugging along despite the cold and the grey.

Threeboysandadog · 21/01/2022 01:08

@yumyumpoppycat thank you. I’m planning to prepare some meals for next week tomorrow so I will let you know what I find.

@EverybodysALebowski I could have easily succumbed to chocolate tonight. Fortunately there wasn’t any in the house and I’m far to lazy to go out for it. I had a cheese slice instead!

Indoctro · 22/01/2022 07:05

Hello

I have been doing ok mostly 9lb down in 3 weeks.

Not sticking to it totally but I've vastly decreased my food intake so to be that's a success I just hope I can keep with it

Today I'm off for a 10 mile run so I'm not sure how I will get on with eating low calories, hopefully ok though

EverybodysALebowski · 22/01/2022 13:22

Whoops. Had friends over for dinner last night and consumed too much wine and consequently other non-plan stuff too. Oh well, today is another day.

MAV34 · 24/01/2022 11:47

Hello all I have started the fast 800 diet plan today and am joining this thread for support and accountability. I’m 73.3 kgs and 168cm tall. I have had 2 kids and hoping to go back down to my pre baby weight and lose about 10kgs ideally. Im most worried about my snacking habit especially when i’m tired! Has anyone thus far struggled with this aspect?

Threeboysandadog · 24/01/2022 14:54

Hi, @MAV34 I started last Monday but, in retrospect it was a dreadful week to start. Ds1 who has some SN’s started a new job, needing picked up at 5.30pm in rush hour traffic and ds3 also with SN’s was sitting exams so I succumbed to wine. I’m going to make a fresh start again this week.

I’m not a great snacker. I would say portion sizes are more my problem and I do “pick” a bit when I’m cooking. I’m going to prepare some food from the KETO800 book so that I have something suitable for each meal in the fridge. If I find anything scrumptious I will post a photo. I’m just waiting for a shopping delivery to arrive. The kids can have pizza tonight as I’m not keen on that and it will give me time to concentrate on my meal.

MAV34 · 24/01/2022 15:18

@Threeboysandadog thanks for raising the point of getting prep done especially in the midst of a busy family life. I think this is where i will struggle most. Will do some prep tonight. Day 1 is going okay but looks like i will probably be closer to 950-1000 calories by the end of the day. But for me that’s quite an achievement. I think with better prepping of meals I will be able to get closer to the 800.

yumyumpoppycat · 24/01/2022 19:42

Well done @MAV34 a lot of people tend to be round that cal range so don't worry!

I have had a lot more socialising than normal this weekend and did not do well so need to get my act together!

MAV34 · 24/01/2022 20:59

@yumyumpoppycat it's hard to avoid that problem and have a bit if a social life, good luck for the rest of the week. Thanks for reassurance around the calories!

ilovetomatoes · 24/01/2022 22:03

Anyone testing with keto sticks? Mine show I’m above optimal. Should I eat some carbs to bring it down a bit? Not losing anymore and feel like crap……!

collywobble · 25/01/2022 21:52

I'm a bit of a lurker on this thread but need a bit of a rant so hope you don't mind an interruption . I've always followed fast 5:2 but gained some excess weight over Christmas as I took my foot off the gas. I bought the Fast 800 keto just after Christmas as a kickstart and have followed the plan religiously with no alcohol and tre. My partner didn't have much to lose and has dropped a stone in the three weeks, I know we're all different but I've only lost 4 pounds which isn't even my Christmas gain. We've eaten all the same meals together. My main gripe is my horrible mood though, I'm on HRT which has been great for me but since going low carb my mood has dipped ridiculously and I'm so irritated at every little thing and snappy. It's not through hunger as I'm not at all hungry in the plan but do feel it has coincided with the new Keto regime. Has anyone else noticed this into week 3 and has it settled ? I do feel very 'hormonal' my poor partner has noticed it too

MAV34 · 25/01/2022 22:23

@collywobble sorry I can’t offer any experience on this one as only just finished day 2. Sounds like you’ve had a really rough time with it. I wonder is there any advice around HRT and calorie restrictive diets? Could you get some support or nutrition advice for women on HRT. Good luck and hope you feel better soon

yumyumpoppycat · 25/01/2022 23:24

@collywobble it could be part of the adjusting to low carb. Would some dark chocolate help maybe? You might be loosing inches rather than lbs which is annoying but will pay off bigger rewards in the longer term. Fingers crossed it shifts more soon!

@ilovetomatoes - no not using keto sticks. Apparently it should be lower in the morning so maybe check then if you checked in the evening? Hope you feel better tomorrow.

collywobble · 26/01/2022 08:07

Thank you for your replies I will pop on to the Menopause board and see if there's any advice on low carb and hrt effects. Still persevering though as apart from the irritability I feel healthier and not as bloated.

yumyumpoppycat · 27/01/2022 13:32

Good luck - let us know if you find anything useful.

Indoctro · 28/01/2022 07:16

02 Jan 22 I started and today I'm 11.2lbs down.

I am delighted at that. It's definitely the boost I need to keep going

ilovetomatoes · 28/01/2022 10:14

I’m so done with this diet. Been the same weight for almost 2 weeks, starving, miserable, tired.

MAV34 · 28/01/2022 11:50

@Indoctro congrats that’s amazing progress

@ilovetomatoes sorry you’ve had a difficult time. How long have you been on the diet?I’m only on my 4th day and not feeling great, but that sounds quite common at this stage. As it’s still early days and having already lost 2.2kgs I’m feeling at this stage its something i’m going to work through.

EverybodysALebowski · 28/01/2022 12:18

@ilovetomatoes sorry it's not going well for you and hope you find something that works better!

I'm hanging in there, only small drop this week but at least haven't gone backwards. Hoping things get moving again next week, just need to resist wine-y temptation this weekend.

MollyButton · 29/01/2022 00:28

Hi, I've been on the blood sugar diet since before Christmas. I'm extending it to 12 weeks as I have a lot of weight to lose. I've lost about 14 kilos so far.
I'm not sure what I'm going to do next, as my primary motivation was to send my diabetes into remission. I have found it surprisingly easy, and haven't been hungry -actually forgetting to eat has sometimes been a problem.
I'm not drinking and will need to keep carbs low whatever I do next.
