Hi, yes I am.

Tomorrow I finish week 2, it's been much better than I thought.

Missedopportunity · 12/07/2021 23:23

Thank you for getting back to me. 🙂

I've been doing low carb 800 cals since 3rd July but not properly. I'm really busy at work so I don't have time to cook so I've been eating tuna, eggs, cheese and avocado. And a couple of slim & save sachets. My weight loss has been good but eating like this isn't really sustainable and I want to get into proper foods. I have the 800 cookbook and nom 800, but I saw you talked about a red and a blue cookbook. I think I found the blue cookbook, but which is the red? Do I get them on Amazon?

Are you on medication or are you trying to control it just through diet? Was your gp or nurse supportive of this? Has the diet had an effect on your blood sugar? This is all so new. I've needed to lose weight for ages but have found reasons not to. But there's nothing like reading about blindness and foot amputations to motivate you!!

LotsOfTrees · 13/07/2021 07:34

I’m back after my holiday. I weighed this morning and am hoping most of the 6 (!!) pounds gained in nearly are temporary/water/too much salt/I’m on my period pounds. I really struggled to follow this way of eating while away but I’m back now and it’s easier to plan at home.

Kayemm · 13/07/2021 08:28

@Missedopportunity Hi! Sorry I have no idea which book is which. I have 2, a small, which outlines the diet and has some recipes in the back, and a large one which is just recipes.

I had blood tests earlier which showed me as type 2 diabetes and I've been given till October to reverse it by diet before I go on medication. I'm losing slowly compared to a lot but I am losing.

Week 2 - 3.8lbs lost; 5.2 in total.

ToffeeNotCoffee · 13/07/2021 09:28

@H1Drangea

Thanks for uploading the chocolate mousse recipe. I'll give that a go. I made avocado chocolate mousse yesterday and it was ok.

I'm a newbie too. I followed the advice in the Fast 800 red book both the 'hand book' and the recipe book and consulted my Dr before starting the Fast 800 diet. This was because I'm on blood pressure medication and I'm significantly overweight. I got the go ahead from the Dr and the nurse that took my weight and blood pressure.

So, I've been doing it for a couple of weeks and have lost three and a half pounds.

Last night I made Beef Rendang curry. Didn't like it because I could taste the coconut.

Today's menu is:

Ham and mushroom omelette for breakfast.

Dan's Vege Bolognese for lunch

Pan fried pork chop with leek and apple with assorted veg for tea.

BlueFishSwims · 13/07/2021 10:26

Another back from holiday. I joined thread on 25th June weighing 11st, crashing back in at 11st 2 lbs. Toast for breakfast (I normally skip breakfast) and chips are the main culprits.

Looking forward to reading how everyone is doing, wifi was poor where we were.

Off to buy some groceries, I will fill the fridge with veg and stock up on tinned fish. If I can I will just have dinner today, fresh salmon and greens.

Signing up for 10 weeks. Belated/postponed 20th wedding anniversary break in early October.

H1Drangea · 13/07/2021 10:58

@Missedopportunity I don’t have diabetes , and I don’t want to get it !
So taking action as I’m over 60 and overweight
A friend is doing this and recommended it ( her DH is diabetic and was getting worse )

Kayemm · 13/07/2021 12:00

So is @H1Drangea's book the red one or the blue one?

Kayemm · 13/07/2021 12:02

And did everyone have good holidays? I'm going near Rye in 6 weeks.

BlueFishSwims · 13/07/2021 12:40

Kayemm yes thanks, eldest was horribly ill for 3 days with fever but recovered by the end. I normally love to swim in the sea while the kids surf, but for the first time ever I didn’t, felt so heavy and unattractive, also unfit. That’s been a real wake up call for me. I’m not depressed about it, just need to follow the BSD and sort myself out.

Restaurants and beaches were all fine, weather mixed, people not social distancing properly but I think so many people have been vaccinated now we felt it was fine.

Missedopportunity · 13/07/2021 13:14

@Kayemm. I have the book H1drangea showed and the one that was written by him that has all the info. I'll stick to those two initially. I think maybe that's the red book because it has red writing on? I was searching online for a book that was fully red! so I'm glad I came and asked here first. You're an inch taller than me but our weight and size seems exactly the same. My starting weight was more but now I'm at the same place as you. I think 5lbs in two weeks is good going. That's 30lbs in 3 months which is 15% of your body weight.

@H1Drangea. Thanks for the book. That was very kind. You are so right to do it before diabetes. I'm so mad with myself that I let this happen. It wasn't like I hadn't had any warning. But my mum had it and she reversed it and eats what she likes now, within reason! So I'm hopeful. I'm with you wanting to be minimum if 10st 13. I want to be able to airily wave my gand and say, oh I'm 10 something, I think. Hehe.

BlueFishSwims · 13/07/2021 16:10

I think with the recipe books they are all good. H1drangeas is I think the first published recipe book, next is the ‘red one’ printed a couple of years later and this year the ‘blue one’ titled easy was added. They all get very good reviews. I have just ordered the blue easy one as I don’t have any of the recipe books and for a 10 week commitment I need some more inspiration and I like the sounds of easy!

BlueFishSwims · 13/07/2021 16:12

I think this is the original.

BlueFishSwims · 13/07/2021 16:16

Next up is the red one and the newest blue easy. People who bought more than one say there is repetition so one book should be plenty.

Nightlystroll · 13/07/2021 17:46

Thank you, Blue. Now its clear. I have the original. It looks like nice recipes. Might call in at the bookshop and have a gander through the others.

And 'easy' is my favourite word.

MercedesBenz · 13/07/2021 18:43

Salmon , roasted veg and garlic mushrooms and 2 new potatoes
I am moving up and down the same 2lb so want to have a push to start losing again
Welcome to all the newbies
Drink lots of water ! It really does help

MercedesBenz · 14/07/2021 08:26

Down just one of the 2lb I put on , but back on it so fingers crossed for a bigger loss by the weekend

Tuna and roasted veg ( from last nights meal ) for lunch today .

How is everyone getting on ?

ToffeeNotCoffee · 14/07/2021 09:30

@MercedesBenz

Pretty well, thanks. Yesterday was pretty good. I kept to the meal plan and was only a few steps short of the ten thousand steps goal.

Today's meals:
Smoked salmon with lemon juice and black pepper for breakfast. Tea with semi skimmed milk to drink.

Chicken and pea clear broth for lunch (was going to make harissa vegetables with falafel) Diet coke to drink.

Chinese style chicken drumsticks with veg for tea. Diet coke to drink.

Good luck to everyone.

BlueFishSwims · 14/07/2021 13:15

My blue easy recipe book has arrived, really pleased with it, bigger size than I expected, the layout is fab, really clear and lots of pictures. Glad I ordered it, I think this is going to be really helpful.

Kayemm · 14/07/2021 15:47

Just picked DGS 1 up from school and him and his little brother are having thick white toast with butter. Feel my pain. Sad

vestastilly · 14/07/2021 17:31

@Kayemm pain felt! Maybe use some mindfulness techniques and eat it with your mind only?
I am now week 5 and something really odd has happened I am not hungry or interested in food at all . Has anyone else experienced this?

MercedesBenz · 14/07/2021 21:59

Ohhh hot buttered toast ! Well done for resisting

@vestastilly
Yes I am less interested in food , no breakfast then I eat lunch ( don’t snack at all in the day which was previously unheard of for me ) and a healthy tea
Occasionally fall off this but am not always looking for the next thing to eat which I used to previously
And if I have a bad day Then I’m back on it the next day

vestastilly · 15/07/2021 07:12

@MercedesBenz thank you. I am going to try no breakfast today. I usually have a protein shake and I’m wondering is now that is too filling for me . Yesterday I had a shake For breakfast, a few forks of veg stir fry For lunch and then pear blue cheese and a few walnuts for tea which I made myself eat. I don’t think the hot weather helps either as it always lessens my appetite

H1Drangea · 16/07/2021 07:40

Not having the best week , as there are too many temptations around
Friends called round for a coffee and catch up , with rhubarb from her garden …… hello rhubarb crumble ✅
We’re meeting some friends for pub food tonight , it’s a scampi and chips type place , so it’s going to be a no breakfast , a light lunch and whatever I like for dinner
Going out. , Out , Out ! A real treat

MercedesBenz · 16/07/2021 07:56

@H1Drangea
Enjoy out out , and the scampi 😁
(And get back to it tomorrow )
