@H1Drangea
I’m making the pork and apricot burgers tomorrow too , good to hear they are delicious
I put 2lb on after a weekend away , which to be fair included wine , chocolate, nice cheese , so I’m back on it today !

MercedesBenz · 07/07/2021 12:36

And overnight I lost the 2lb !

LotsOfTrees · 07/07/2021 12:51

Well done @MercedesBenz! Star

H1Drangea · 08/07/2021 07:23

@MercedesBenz did you like the burgers ?
Need a little rant .. we bought one of the recipe books ( the one with the blue too ) I went through it and made a meal plan , choosing 5 main meal choices , ( we’ve been in a real repetitive rut of the same meals every week ) gave the book to DH to go through and choose a couple of new dishes …. What does he do ?
He chooses 2 that we had last week .
Grrr
Same old same old again ( the pork with mustard was good though ! I just done want it once a week )
So , once again I’ll go through the book and make a meal plan

Does anyone have any favourites that they can suggest ? I’m a competent cook , I don’t like lamb but no other restrictions

MercedesBenz · 08/07/2021 07:51

@H1Drangea
I didn’t make the burgers tho it is still on my list
Tbh I normally make my meals using the principles of fast 800 , so low or no carb , high protein and veg

I can’t remember where I read this but made a fish ‘stew ‘
Fry some bacon lardons garlic herbs add Tin tomatoes tin cannelloni beans , simmer then put pieces fish on top and gently cook for 7 ishmins with lid on
Was simple , in one pan and you can vary it as you like

vestastilly · 08/07/2021 12:42

Desperation day today - tired stressed and PMT. cold sausages for lunch and made the chocolate mug cake. No baking powered so more of a chocolate flat cake but who cares I need it!!!

MercedesBenz · 08/07/2021 19:33

@vestastilly
We all have crap days .. go with the flow , if u want a sweet or savoury something extra then have it … and tomorrow back to the plan xx chin up

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 09/07/2021 08:20

Hey vestastilly, I hope you're feeling better today and getting back on plan.
Well done on your recent loss MercedesBenz!

H1Drangea · 09/07/2021 10:44

💐 @vestastilly hope you’re feeling better ( sometimes chocolate is the answer ) there’s a really good chocolate mousse recipe I made when I was doing the low carb Bootcamp
www.delscookingtwist.com/dark-chocolate-mousse-the-one-and-only/
I’ve attached a screenshot of the recipe , in case the link doesn’t work

It makes a lot . A real lot . Loads
You might want to reduce the amount 👍

Blood Sugar Diet & Fast 800 Diet | Thread 23
Sanguinesuzy · 09/07/2021 10:49

Can I join you all ? Seems a really supportive thread. Started fast 800 about 3 weeks ago. Tbh have sometimes exceeded the 800 but never beyond 1000 calories. I was 72 kg when weighed in outpatients (got long covid) and am now 67.5 although had my clothes and shoes on at hospital so not sure how accurate initial weigh in was.
I'm 5ft 2.5 so needed to loose at least 2 stone. Have mainly put it on since I became ill but tbh it was creeping up over the last year or 2 - I've got a collapsed disc so can't run anymore which was my fail safe way of keeping the weight off !
I was absolutely welded to an early breakfast. Still have it but a bit later. I tend to take my dog out after the school run and was finding I really didn't have any energy if I had it after.
Don't really miss snacking but I am struggling with low carb, love bread and pasta. Just wondered if anyone used a spiralizer to replace the pasta ? Can't seem to get any in the shops.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 09/07/2021 13:48

Hi Sanguinesuzy! Welcome to the thread! I'm a fellow shorty; you're two inches taller than me :)
I'm sorry to hear you got long Covid. I hope you're on the mend.
I'm allowing myself a slice of home-made bread two days a week; it's heavenly. I'm doing 5.2 after starting this diet nearly six weeks ago. It has been worth while.

JaquelineBean · 09/07/2021 17:29

Hiya Sanguinesuzy, I'm 5'2 also!

I find Sainsburys best for spiralized veg, though Tesco do some also. Check out frozen versions of e.g. cauliflower and broccoli rice.

And I'm off on hols on Sunday, so the weekend will be using up whatever I have in the fridge. I'll try not to go mad while away (in Scotland....) but I'm not going to be sticking to plan.

H1Drangea · 09/07/2021 19:33

Hallo @Sanguinesuzy I’m only in my second week , so I’m newbie too
I do have a spiralizer , bought from Lakeland a couple of years ago
It’s fun to use and the spiralizer veg is much nicer and fresher than the bought stuff
I especially like courgetti

I made the aubergine mash tonight , it was lovely except I added too much chilli and DH couldn’t eat it ( oh dear , more for me )

Having a big GOW night , been alcohol free for nearly 2 weeks and it’s been a fractious day , DH offered me a glass at 5-15 , but I felt that was a bit too early 👍

vestastilly · 10/07/2021 21:52

Thanks everyone I am back in the zone today - the mug cake did the trick. Bit of a tricky night tonight DD 13 has friend over and everyone has had a McDonalds. Smoked salmon and cream cheese on a piece of rye bread for me. I had planned teriyaki tuna but apparently cooking fish would have been ‘the end of the world’ when DD has friends over Hmm. I bet Michael Mosley doesn’t have these problems !!!

vestastilly · 10/07/2021 21:54

@H1Drangea don’t do what I did and touch the blades to see how sharp they are! Very is the answer - a spiralised finger is a painful thing!

That made me laugh! I bet he doesn't Grin

Ouch. sympathy.

MercedesBenz · 10/07/2021 22:09

@Sanguinesuzy
Welcome to the thread , you will get some great advice and ideas
Hope you are on the mend
How are you doing with the fast 800 so far ?

Kayemm · 10/07/2021 22:55

@H1Drangea one of the nicest meals we've had is the pesto lentils but we do use a full courgette. Living on the edge Grin

Sanguinesuzy · 11/07/2021 00:24

@MercedesBenz thanks for asking ! I’m on the mend. Work on icu where things are getting busy so not really looking forward to resuming Sad but I’m of an age (55) that I can flexi retire so have an option to take things easier.
Had an m and s prawn curry last night with Dhal so definitely not 800 calories but not that bad either. Ds2 14th birthday tomorrow too so I probably won’t be able to resist a bit of birthday cake. What I find good about Fast 800 is that it’s easy to jump back on even if you do have the odd cheat day ! Definitely feel my eating habits have changed and I’m not picking between meals..... I bought a dress off Ebay the other week, it’s tight and sadly I can’t return it - so my goal is to get in it ! Hopefully as I lose weight it will feel looser and give me more incentive - that’s the idea anyway !

I’m cautious with power tools in the kitchen after my DMum sliced her finger about 25 times and then fainted when she used her fingers and not the pusher to slice potatoes for dauphinois …..

vestastilly · 11/07/2021 09:19

@H1Drangea ouch! My SIL did a similar thing when she dropped a hand blended and caught it by the blades! It could almost be a whole new thread - kitchen a&e! My worst accident was dropping a boiling hot cafetière of coffee on my foot. Very badly burned and hobbling for weeks.
Hope everyone has a good night tonight I will be sipping on my mineral water and being supportive Grin

H1Drangea · 12/07/2021 07:14

End of week 2 weigh in , and another lb off
11-07
Not bad , considering yesterday was a day when we were running round doing errands and ending up with macaroni cheese for dinner

Busy day today , healthy habits restarting 👍

Kayemm · 12/07/2021 13:25

Well done @H1Drangea. Every pound counts

I'm finding this easier than I anticipated but haven't been out at night. We took a packed lunch to the zoo and I refused an ice cream Halo

Two weeks of no drinking, more exercise and this diet is really showing in my resting heart rate.

Missedopportunity · 12/07/2021 20:27

I'm sorry, I haven't read the full thread, but could I ask if anyone is on this diet because of diabetes?
