I'm really struggling with sleep. Lost weight has to go somewhere and it's mostly excreted as urine. I go to sleep about 11, always pee before bed, then I'll have to get up to pee around 1am and again around 4am. I get up for work at 5.30 so the danger is I'll barely have got back to sleep before I have to get up again. I'll be bursting for another wee by the time the alarm goes off too! It's ridiculous.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 03/07/2021 14:03

That's a real pain, annabel22. I get up once in the night which is okay. I settle down at around 11pm too and wake up after 6am usually.

BlueFishSwims · 03/07/2021 14:59

LotsofTrees, tinselandlights and Is FuzzyBeagMise great losses. LotsofTrees so impressed with your 12 week commitment.

Not great here, very heavy period (dam you menopause) and up half the night. Trying to pack for holiday on Monday, kids on Duke of E expeditions so can’t help. Plumber didn’t finish job in kitchen as wrong valve supplied blah blah. Cupboards emptied into dining room table and piles of laundry everywhere.

Sorry for banging on, re fast 800, scrambled eggs for brunch, salmon and veg for dinner. No idea if I’ve lost anything as I balloon at this time.

That sounds very stressful BlueFishSwims especially with a heavy period in the mix. I hope you enjoy your holiday when you get there! Your food choices sound great though. It's a game of patience when it comes down to it, I think.

We had the turkey burgers tonight , actually used pork (5%fat pork mince ) it has chopped dried apricots and coriander to season and they were delicious , served with red coleslaw and DH had potato wedges
Still no wine 😇
Watched the footy with sparkling water 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Kayemm · 03/07/2021 22:14

@H1Drangea which book is the coleslaw in? I love a good coleslaw.

We are babysitting tonight because dd and her dh have gone to a party so I'm driving which means I'm not missing the drink as much. We brought the vegetarian bolognaise with us which was lovely and I'm not usually a quorn fan.

H1Drangea · 04/07/2021 10:57

@Kayemm, the book with the blue top ( 8-week blood sugar diet recipe book )
I’ve taken a photo of the recipe , hope it is readable , if not I’ll copy it out

I haven't tried it yet (the coleslaw). It looks good!

JaquelineBean · 04/07/2021 13:25

I found the falafel bit of the recipe too "faffy", but I'm doing the harissa veg tonight with a peppered quorn steak.

Will try to stay on track well this week, and then we are off on actual holidays for a week! (Only to Scotland, but still looking forward to it)

So, usual Sunday menu planning today Smile

tinselandlights · 04/07/2021 14:46

@Kayemm with the getting up to wee at night, have you tried adding a bit more salt into your food? I found that useful.

I'm going to stay and move into the 5:2 tomorrow - dragging my DH into it too!

For me this is where the work really starts as I've been such a yo-yoer over the years. I'm within a few lbs of a normal weight and I really want to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Just went snuffling into the kitchen cupboards looking for treats, but suggested a trip to a garden centre instead. I'm definitely bored not hungry Smile

Hmm week 4 and only a pound lost. Pretty annoyed as rigidly stuck to it even to the point of sitting at neighbours bbq with my sparkling water and on plan salad ( everyone else on wine and burgers). Keep telling myself to focus on the long term! Pub tonight for DS birthday and am planning on a salad Confused

My weight loss slowed down after three weeks too vestastilly. I lost six or seven pounds very rapidly but it had to level off I guess!
Tinselandlights · 04/07/2021 19:22

@vestastilly week 3 onwards tends to be slower - definitely was for me

Thank you @Tinselandlights.

Today, day 6 week 1, I have been exhausted. I got under a blanket and snoozed this afternoon.

Six days no alcohol Halo Sad

vestastilly · 05/07/2021 07:50

Thank you @Tinselandlights and @IsFuzzyBeagMise I know I need to stick with it long term. Went to the pub last night for DH birthday and had a duck salad with sparkling water - really enjoyed it and didn’t even fancy everyone else’s triple cooked chips! I think this is the magic of this diet that somehow it takes away most of the cravings! Weirdly the only cravings I’ve had are for chocolate (of course) and jam! Into week 5 I go now ………..

Good for you, vestastilly. I haven't had a drink since the 22nd of May, Eurovision night! I'm a week ahead of you, week six. I'm twelve pounds down, which was my target. I'm thinking of switching to 5:2 for maintainance.
H1Drangea · 05/07/2021 08:04

End of week 1 weigh in ….
3lb off !
I’m very pleased , it’s not been completely easy , and I have been a bit hungry at times ( dried apricot is my snack of choice , hard to stop at 1 though ! )
Week 2 starts today at 11st 8lb

Well done H1Drangea. The end of week one is a milestone. You will get into the routine of it from now on.
Tinselandlights · 05/07/2021 09:53

Day 1 of dragging DH into the 5:2 - I'm trying the beef rendang for dinner, I think he'll enjoy it!

I ate quite unhealthily over the weekend but am ready for an extra push now!

Tinselandlights · 06/07/2021 08:35

DH was SO grumpy yesterday! The rendang was really delicious; we had it with broccoli and it was gorgeous!

Good Morning All Smile

End of week one today for me so official weigh in day and I have managed to lose - drum roll - 1.4lbs!!! Sad Sad Sad

Every day I have had two meals within an 8 hour window which have never added up to more than 800 calories, on the days I've had a latte inbetween the two meals I have counted the calories. Every day I have walked more than 10,000 steps, I have not cheated, not one little bit, I have counted my carbs, I have drunk water. I have not been constipated. I HAVE NOT HAD A DRINK OF ALCOHOL!!

I'm quite down over this becaue of how much you read about losing a lot more at the begining, if I'm going to go down from here I'll be at a standstill.

I'm open to suggestions? I'm open to alcohol even at this time in the morning. Gin

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 06/07/2021 09:52

Hi Kayemm, the two things that jump out to me in your post are counting carbs and the lattes. I would think lattes aren't on the plan and neither are carbs not listed in the recipes. You need to go into ketosis to really kick off the weight loss.
Otherwise I think you have made a good start. The early weeks are hard, I know that. I did three weeks and was extremely strict, literally doing it by the book, but it works. Best of luck going forward!

Tinselandlights · 06/07/2021 11:01

@Kayemm I'd look at the menu plans in the back of the book and see if you can follow them strictly for a few weeks to see if it helps. You need to be in mild keto which might mean upping protein and lowering carbs.

You mentioned being diabetic, so it might be worthwhile chatting to your GP to check everything is well. But weight really can fluctuate so I would just stick with it.

LotsOfTrees · 06/07/2021 20:41

Well done for starting the 5:2 @Tinselandlights. I’ve eaten very unhealthily since Friday. We’re away on holiday and everyone around me is eating everything I’m tempted by. I’ve given myself a stern talking to and managed a fast day today but I’ll likely have a very early night to keep myself from temptation.

Great to catch up on everyone’s news! Hope your second week shows more of a loss @Kayemm. The advice others have given is good and it’s worth it to keep going.
