Anyone else starting afresh in the coming days? I've dabbled in 16/8 in the past but then got a tummy bug and didn't restart.

I'm now the biggest I've been in 10 years and am keen to start taking some action to make me feel healthier and to lose some weight. 👋🏻

Aside from 16/8, I'm going to be reducing my carb intake (although still eating some) and ensuring I eat more fruit and vegetables.

Hello to any others who may be keen to join. I'll be weighing weekly on a Monday and using the Zero app to track my fasts.

I'd like to join.

5 ft 4
11 stone

Want to lose 1.5 stone at least, get back to my pre-baby weight!

ladybranstonpickle · 03/01/2021 17:10

Me! I'm doing 5:2 (first fast is Monday, then Wednesday) and am toying with 16:8 for NFDs, hoping to kickstart my weightloss.

I'm 67kg and would love to be around 60kg. Feels a bit daunting tbh. I am also still breastfeeding my 1 year old although she's only feeding twice a day now.

Plan:
Mon & Wed FD at 500-600 cal
16:8 NFDs
Walk at least 30 mins per day (go the long way around after dropping baby at nursery). This is hard when I am WFH.
Yoga with Adriene 30 Day Journey every day.

It would be nice to be at goal by Easter....

LoveACockatoo · 03/01/2021 19:55

Hi yes me!

11stone 8 am 5ft 4 and 49. Literally feel like mashed potato!!

Am going to try this and also have a peleton which I’ve been neglecting these past few months so that should help.

Go us!

LadyMcLadyface · 03/01/2021 20:18

Me! 👋🏼 I did low-carb and IF last year for a few weeks with some success then massively fell off the wagon so I'm trying to get back on it, got about 1.5 stone to lose. Not sure whether to low-carb for a couple of weeks before fasting to make it easier to adapt? Also doing Yoga with Adriene to help stay focused, I'm a massive binge-eater and stress tends to trigger it Sad

LadyMcLadyface · 03/01/2021 20:19

Also, @ladybranstonpickle are you me? I'm the same weight (goal weight also 60kg) and also still BF Grin

I've meal planned for tomorrow, it involves lots of chicken. And no breakfast.

Good luck to everyone else, I find the first day of 'getting back on it' so hard - literally feels like my stomach has to shrink back to a more reasonable size (from being overstretched in the festivities. 🥴)

Can I join you? I've done 16:8 from time to time in the past and, once I get into the routine of it, find it manageable. I'm 11st6 having put on 7lbs since early December when I was already at the top of the 7lbs I usually yo-yo around. I'd like to have lost a stone by Easter well, preferably by when I go back to work on Weds and have to fit into my uniform.
These first few days will be a shocker as I've drunk nothing but tea, coffee & alcohol for about a month and haven't gone longer than about 20 minutes without eating something. DH and I both had some cheese & biscuits about 10pm last night and I did make it through to 2pm today without eating or drinking anything other than water or black coffee. We ate at 6.30pm tonight (2x primary DC) and I mentally declared the kitchen closed but then DH offered me a chocolate about 10pm and I stupidly ate it. I won't last 16 hours from but will try and go through until midday.

JacobReesMogadishu · 03/01/2021 23:36

Yes please. I did this 3 years ago and lost quite a lot of weight, dropped two dress sizes. Have put most of it back on since covid.

feliznavidad2 · 04/01/2021 07:46

Just weighed in at highest weight since forever.

Feeling motivated with black coffee in hand whilst watching 4yo demolish bowl of Cheerios. We shall see how the day goes.

Welcome to others who are enjoying too - it's far nicer not doing this on your own.

Joining* maybe not enjoying. Xmas Hmm

So I’ve had 2 cups of tea with milk - I know it’s a “dirty” fast Hmm but I simply cannot do without it. 30 min lunch at 1pm and have got an m&s prawn layer salad which I love so I’m going to try for 1-9 and see how it goes

ladybranstonpickle · 04/01/2021 09:54

Ha how funny. No, not you but maybe we can keep each other motivated!

Skipped breakfast although like the poster above having a dirty fast as an drinking a coffee with milk. Thought I would ease myself into 5:2 and 16:8 as it's my first fast day in literally years.

Good luck everyone fasting today! We can do it 💪🏼

Glitterb · 04/01/2021 10:14

Just started today!

Doing 11-7 and calorie counting, plus at least an hours walking a day (I have a dog so fairly easy to maintain)

Weighed myself last night and I am utterly disgusted with myself, after a bereavement last year I just binged junk and have piled weight on. I have previously some slimming world and WW with success but find it incredibly restrictive long term.

Anyone have any tips?

Wearethetwirl · 04/01/2021 10:55

Wanted to ask during the fast period, can you drink? If so what can you drink?

I've looked online and answers are a bit hazy.

Glitterb · 04/01/2021 11:01

@Wearethetwirl believe it is just water or black tea/coffee

Wearethetwirl · 04/01/2021 11:20

Thank you @Glitterb Smile

Hurrah, my fast has just ended! Time for some brown bread toast.

Glitterb · 04/01/2021 11:31

@Wearethetwirl I’m so jealous, toasts sounds lovely!

Wearethetwirl · 04/01/2021 11:33

I actually ate a Rice Krispies chocolate squares bar. Blush

PeacheyPeach · 04/01/2021 12:00

Morning all
I'm joining as I've had real success with 16/8 in the past yet have put 2.5 stone on in the last year so enough is enough!!
I'm going to eat within the hours 12-8 so im literally hangingaround the kitchen so I can have my first Nespresso of the Day!!!

namechange202086 · 04/01/2021 12:42

Hello everyone. I need to attempt this after weighing myself last night...Sad. Need to lose a stone but preferably 2. Going to have my eating window as 12-8.

Can you put sweetener in the coffee during the fast?

ladybranstonpickle · 04/01/2021 13:34

First 16:8 complete at 16.75 hours! Dirty fast though as had coffee with milk, but its a huge improvement on my usual day!

namechange202086
I don't know, in terms of calories I would think so but maybe sweeteners create an insulin response anyway?

Wearethetwirl · 04/01/2021 13:44

Another question, during your eating hours, how many calories do you stick to?

LoveACockatoo · 04/01/2021 14:17

I’m not thin yet and it’s been hours Grin
