Blood sugar diet thread 7

thenewaveragebear1983 · 14/06/2017 13:53

Here's thread seven for the Blood Sugar Diet followers.

It's 5 weeks and 5 days until school breaks up (may vary by region!) so let's get those bodies lean for Summer!

Continuing thread for Blood Sugar Dieters:
Phase 1 lasts 2 - 8 weeks and involves restricting calories to 800 a day. Eating healthy fats is encouraged as is limiting carby foods (no specific guideline on this but some people aim for under 50g), small amounts of complex carbs are allowed but should be balanced ideally with green veg, protein and fat to lower the glycemic load and reduce the effect on blood sugar.

I'm just checking in to get this on my threads I'm on. I am bloody ravenous!!!

Thanks for new thread Bear :)

APlaceOnTheCouch · 15/06/2017 18:37

I just spotted all the cartoons on the end of the old thread - well done! Grin

thenewaveragebear1983 · 15/06/2017 19:38

Tobee in a nutshell, yes. Not the lightheaded feeling because I never really got that, but definitely i get the first week detox feeling every time I've restarted or even if I've had a week of not quite being on it then a proper week.

I am very cross with myself. I managed to bake a carrot cake, 12 butterfly cupcakes and 24 little finger biscuits dipped in chocolate and sprinkles today- and only tasted the smallest morsel for quality control. Then went to a parents open evening for my dd's new high school and somehow ended up sampling: macaroni cheese, veg curry and rice, key lime pie and school cracknel all in the space of about 5 minutes. Yes, they were only small taster portions but why oh why did I do that???? I hate going off piste on a Thursday because it's too dangerously close to the weekend and runs the risk of becoming a 4 day carb bender!

I'm now going to the kitchen to make a healthy low carb dinner so I can then close the kitchen for the night to stop me picking as now I have awoken the carb monster......

I've had a great NSV - INCHES! 2.5" reduction in waist, 3" smaller in hip. I only realised because I was measuring myself to check my sizing for a potential new corset... Wink

PhyllisWig · 15/06/2017 21:03

Brilliant Flighty :Grin

I measured my waist and hips yesterday and had lost 2 inches from hips but none from my waist. This has disproportionately upset me because even at my fatest I always had a 12-14 waist to hip difference and now it's down to 11 inches. Between this and my shrinking tits my curves are going and yet my vast thighs remain (today not so good).

I am still losing fast which is pleasing obviously. I am also thinking about maintaining and how I'll manage but I have maintained a 4 stone loss for 2 years so I can do it and if I can we all can 'waves pom poms and does the splits'

PinkBlossomTree · 15/06/2017 21:26

Bloody hell flighty that's AMAZING! You know 2 inches is a dress size.

Also well done Phills on your hip loss. Love to loose 2 on my hips as mine is my widest part.

Flightywoman · 15/06/2017 21:40

Thank you! I am pretty chuffed - my clothes feel different and I've lost 20.25lbs so far. My first 2 targets were to lose a stone in May and then another half stone in June (and each subsequent month). I am hoping to cruise through the next half stone in the next few days!

But as I said before, weightloss isn't linear and there will be holidays and blips I am sure. I'm almost at the end of week 7, I'm going to carry on after week 8 - the countdowns on the website are for 12 weeks so I reckon I can do that. And then see.

Overall I have around 7 stone/100lbs to lose so I am not going to be anywhere near dangerously thin for a LONG time! But I am fifth of the way there. And that's an AMAZING thought!

Ohyesiam · 15/06/2017 21:47

This had come at exactly the right time for me, thankyou.
I lost two stone doing this, then had half term and an extra week off( was going to a wedding.... Couldn't possibly start before that....). Good knows how much I put back on in that fortnight, but I now want to lose another maybe 20llbs.
I AM STRUGGLING, day 4 today. Struggled yesterday too, when I had a large handful of Brazil nuts on to of my 800 calories.
Was just contemplating eating a roast chicken leg, going over 800 and calling it " easing myself in gently ". I think posting on here is going to stop me doing that.
I an doing something I really enjoy ( yes, a good old mn hobby) on July 1st. I could use that as my incentive, take that weekend off. Then back on it till summer holidays start.
I'm rambling. Than you ask for being in similar boats x

PinkBlossomTree · 15/06/2017 21:48

That's a amazing loss flighty. You should be very proud of that.

There will be occasions as you say but keep at it and those lbs will keep coming off.

Nomoocluck · 15/06/2017 22:21

Well done flighty! Fantastic loss.

I gave in and had a slice of wholewheat toast this evening, was feeling rubbish with hayfever and a possible cold coming on which for some stupid reason always makes me feel ravenous.

Am on 920 calories so far today and the toast knocked me over into 67g of carbs but tomorrow is another day.

I can't get my head round using stones and pounds, it's all in kilos and grams for me. The scales this morning said I've lost another 400g, so that's almost a pound I think.

Flibbertyjibbit · 15/06/2017 22:23

Wow! well done Flighty!

Hi Ohyesiam, congrats on losing 2 stone! I found drinking water kept me full and not snacking in my early days. I'm only at the end of day 20 so still new to it but know that I get snacky feeling if I don't keep drinking through the day.

Phyllis congrats on the loss and the maintaining. It does seem we lose fat where we least want to, if we could chose where it gets taken off it would be much better!

Flightywoman · 15/06/2017 23:43

I saw a great word today: snac-cident

I know EXACTLY what one of those is!

Flibbertyjibbit · 15/06/2017 23:45

Great word Flighty!

Flightywoman · 16/06/2017 07:22

This morning I have lost another 1.25lb. That's my stone and a half and another half pound.

I am beyond happy!

PinkBlossomTree · 16/06/2017 07:37

Yeay well done to flighty! That's amazing.

Ohyesiam · 16/06/2017 12:16

It worked! Posting on here last night stopped me over eating.
Feel really grateful.

JigglyTuff · 16/06/2017 19:10

Well done Flighty - that's fantastic!

I'm feeling slightly despondent with a STS and haven't lost anything like what other people have so far but I shall KOKO.

I'm going to a party tomorrow afternoon/evening though so I am going to go massively off piste. But I have nothing planned for weeks after that so all I can do is get back on the wagon.

Talking of wagons, I bought so Eisberg low alcohol wine because it was 2 bottles for £6 at Ocado. It's actually not that bad and is only 28 calories for a small glass. Almost feels like drinking real wine!

alteredimage · 16/06/2017 19:51

Lots of chaos interspersed with some very nice meals, so I am not sure I can claim to be on the diet.

Instead it seems much more like a maintenance mode. I am weighing myself most days, and if I have eaten too much one evening I have managed to eat less the next day. When I can get comfortably into my "thin" jeans, I am thinking of buying a second pair and throwing the fatter ones away so I will have no option but to stay on track. One thing that is clear, is that my "normal" eating was far too much and that if being on a diet is defined as eating less than I consider normal, then I need to stay on a diet.

The good thing is that I have not felt particularly hungry, indeed when a friend an I crept out for a cheeky Nandos, I felt completely stuffed with my normal order and did not eat in the evening.

Things should be calmer now so hopefully I can get back on track, and finally go below 12 st.

Oblomov17 · 16/06/2017 20:36

Well done Flighty!!

Jiggly is that Eisberg low alcohol wine at Ocado, which one is it please? It is the no alcohol one? Is it really like wine?

I like most alcohol. I like a g&t. GinI love cocktails. I make fabulous cocktails!! I also love wineWine, white red or rose. I like a dark earthy red. I like A very crisp very dry white.

I'm not that interested in getting pissed!! But I drink a lot and quickly : that's why I always have to have a huge glass of water, with my huge glass of wine. I would prefer low alcohol wines. But all I have tried, have been so rank, I've thrown most of them away.

By the way, I have eaten nothing today. I was Busy rushing around getting measured at bravissimo for 2 new bras. Hoorah!! I have gone down in the back to a 30, but up in the cup size to a huge size, which has made me quite sad actually. Remember I am tiny at only 5'1, so this is not good.

Anyway. At bravissimo I then, with new bra on. (Which gave loads of up Lift). I try on my Holy Communion dress. It looks awful and is hanging off me and far too big. I am upset by this. It was a perfect fit when I bought it. I know I should be pleased. And I am. But my initial thought is horror : what am I going to do for tomorrow.

I Drive home like the clappers and go to an alteration place and fortunately she agrees that she can do it for me in a couple of hours .the dress now looks like it has been altered and isn't quite how it was originally, but at least it's fitting better and I was lucky to get somebody to be able to do it the same day.

I then went and had my eyelashes dyed and eyebrows checked and somewhere else for my nails painted.

I then rush to Costco to collect Holy Communion cake. Phew!!

I am going to eat something in a minute....

yumyumpoppycat · 16/06/2017 20:50

Blimey Oblomov what a day, you and your dd must be getting excited now. My holy communion was the best day of my life as far as I was concerned at 7, I cried the next day when it was all over. My dc aren't being brought up as religious so no holy communions here, but we have gone to town on the occasional birthday.

yumyumpoppycat · 16/06/2017 20:55

Jiggly have you tried incorporating an eating window at all, that seems to help some people, my weightloss increased a bit when I started doing that - not a huge amount but enough to be encouraging.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 16/06/2017 20:58

Oblo that's sounds like a crazy day! That is very good news about the dress but I can understand that it's not ideal right now!

Well..... It's all gone wrong for me today. I held a charity coffee morning for some mums and babies, allowed for a small piece of cake, but then, well, I had more cake. And then just had a sausage and cheese sandwich and a bottle of bud. I'm taking it in my stride, but I must must must get back on track tomorrow and not use this as an excuse to have a weekend carb fest. Remind me how much I'll regret it if I do.....

Some great weigh ins on here, well done. Have a great weekend everyone, it's going to be HOT here 🏝

OP posts:
JigglyTuff · 16/06/2017 21:10

Oblo - it would be a lie if I said it was delicious. It's okay. It's like bad wine. But it's satisfied my 'it's the end of the week and I deserve a glass of wine dammit' feeling which is what sent me off course last weekend. For £3.50 a bottle it might be worth a shot though? If it were real wine with real calories in it, it would be a terrible waste!

Good luck with the Communion - I'm sure the dress looks lovely.

What is an eating window yumyum? Do you mean eating all your food within a specific period of time like 16:8? Oh that's an idea, I could try that. Will see how much I weigh in the morning.

Oblomov17 · 16/06/2017 21:15

Yes hot. 30 degrees predicted for tomorrow. Not conducive to Spanx for making you look good in a dress, then!! I was supposed to buy some support pants today, maybe from primary? but didn't, in the trauma of dress not fitting!!

If it continues to be hot, does than mean we all drink more water, eat less, and lose even more weight? Wink

Have a fab weekend everyone!

PhyllisWig · 16/06/2017 21:19

Bear you will regret it [brandishes fist in the manner of les Dawson in drag]

Oblo that was a busy day! Have a brill first communionSmile

Jiggly sts is horrid when you've done things right. Are you a whoosher? Could it be you have a woosh around the corner? Until I tried this I was always a slow and steadier and got some great results and remember you are going in the right direction.

Today was my first day with no loss so that initial phase is over. Tomorrow I will be off plan for a dinner so my plan is reasonable sized breakfast and lunch then I won't be starving by the time we sit down ( big formal dinner for 200 so not eating til 8). I am driving so no alcohol and generally I find these kind of things are smallish portions. I will avoid the bread but will let myself have pudding if I like it - part of me hopes it's black currant as I hate it Wink
