Hi outnumbered. Firstly, well done on 8lb! Actually, more than half a stone in eight weeks is pretty awesome. It's more that the diet promises such vast losses, isn't it?

I am 2 weeks 2 days in, with a couple of wobbles, and have lost 6.6lb as of this morning. I'd love it to be more, but given that I've never lost anything on any diet before now, shedding half a stone in 2 weeks is quite something. Trying to focus on that.

Thanks bob yes I will do. Lovely to be back in my size 14 jeans too

Justonemorecupoftea · 15/03/2017 09:40

Update on stickon muffins Smile

My new tin is marvellous. The muffins practically jumped out of it! I also tried a few with circles of wafer thin chorizo at the bottom and they were extra yummy.

I threw away the packaging but it is made by Stellar and is dark coloured, shiny and heavy. I still used a tiny bit of oil to grease it but may not need it.

I added a little more cheese to this mix so calories adjusted for these to 70 each but still worth it for yummyness Smile

thenewaveragebear1983 · 15/03/2017 10:01

Oooh lovely just. I suspect the higher fat from the cheese and the chorizo will have helped as well. My experience in the kitchen does always lead me to the conclusion that more expensive cookware is worth the extra money.

I'm making a lamb casserole today, plus some salmon and broccoli muffins. Feeling yuck today, really bloated and over-sugared! I've sent dd with a food parcel of all the left over chocolates and cakes from the weekend to share with her friends at school today because I didn't trust myself with them in the house!

Still have a thumping headache- that's 5 days now. I'd love to say it's because I'm detoxing but alas, it's not!

DH has just finished the 8 week 800 calorie BSD (as diagnosed with T2 diabetes just before Christmas!) as GP agreed come back in 3 months to see if following diet would work. He was slim and now very thin - but no longer has T2 diabetes!! Blood test last week confirms! We both love the food and are going to stick to (just larger portions!) with occasional fasting! I thought I was pretty healthy - but our skin has more colour and I'm sure the start of two age spots on my hands are disappearing. A friend told me I looked well and had I put fake tan on! I hadn't!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 16/03/2017 21:20

Just checking in. Feeling pretty rough today, very nauseous. I have been taking Cocodamol for my headache and wonder if it might be that, but I've been totally spaced out and off my food which is very unlike me!
On the plus side, I've had very few calories, zero carbs except in milk, and it's probably no great harm to have a 'fasting day' before the weekend!

Bear that's rubbish, 5 day headache is horrible. Do you know what's causing it?

Annoyed with my scales today. But I'm having a healthy day and hoping for better tomorrow. 10 weeks tomorrow - I can't believe I've come so far.

Anyone come across any good new recipes recently? I feel like I'm getting into a rut with diet food, which is never a good thing.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 17/03/2017 16:29

bear I wonder if it's a bug that's going round because I feel the same: lightheaded, nauseous, extra tired and just not feeling myself. I hope we both feel better soon Flowers
Scandi I tried a low-carb fish pie recipe fish pie with tomatoes and cinnamon. DH loved it but I thought it was Envy It also looks nothing like the photo. But it is easy to make and who knows your taste may be more like DH's than mine!
I've been experimenting with different oven-baked risottos which are only BSD friendly by having tiny portion sizes.I make a combination of these two recipes red pepper risotto and oven baked risotto
I've also had the BSD cottage pie which was great.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 17/03/2017 17:07

Well I'm very much hoping it's a bug because the only other time(s) I've felt this tired and nauseous was something else altogether and quite frankly I have no room in my life for that right now!

Not great day for me, had a crumpet for breakfast and a few nibbles of cheese and ham during the day, plus have just shared a big orange with ds. Low cal but prob not low carb or healthy in any way!

I have had a good end to the week after a crap beginning... DD and I both home sick from work/school, generally miserable household. Lots of sandwiches/wraps eaten as I could face cooking. However it was fairly easy to switch back on plan when I went back to work (which was a relief!) Finished the week half a kilo down, which I'm happy with all things considered!!

RueDeDay · 17/03/2017 18:15

That BSD cottage pie looks great, Place. Will have to try it. I had the giant mushrooms with goat's cheese and pine nuts with a massive salad for dinner last night, was sooooo yummy. And easy to assemble, too. Can see them becoming an firm favourite.

Scandicat · 17/03/2017 18:17

I had Spanish omelette in the end. No potato but chicken chorizo onion and lots of cheese. It was good although not as good as the DC's pizza smelt... Sad

thenewaveragebear1983 · 17/03/2017 18:55

I love those flat mushrooms but I have Stilton on mine instead of goats cheese. I overdid the goats cheese a bit in round one and now I just taste farmyard when I eat it!

We've got salmon fillets and griddled asparagus tonight but I must drag my carcass to the kitchen first.....

Weighed in today st 12.2.5 which is a very small loss this week overall but actually 4lb if intake into account my gain from last weekend! And also the lowest I've been since starting round 2, making 6.5lb in total. Hardly earth shattering but I'm still happy with that, especially as I'm only half on it and feeling rotten.

Busy day ahead but I have planned all my meals and I still have virtually zero appetite anyway. Maybe this will teach me that I actually can stick to it over the weekends! Have a great Saturday everyone!

OP posts:
APlaceOnTheCouch · 18/03/2017 08:07

6.5lb is nearly half a stone - that's fab bear ! Don't tire yourself out too much with your busy day.

Bogburglar75 · 18/03/2017 08:50

Scales say 11.8 this morning which I am a bit dubious about but if true, is 9lb down from where I started nearly 3 weeks ago.

Fight now is not to say 'sod it, I can now have a chocolate biscuit/sandwich/Kit Kat' etc. If I keep it up to the Easter hols I am hoping to get into the region of 11 stone and have some room for bounce back while I get maintenance sorted and eat a bit of chocolate

DH is grumpy as hell but also about 9lb down which puts him back into the healthy weight range Smile

Bogburglar75 · 18/03/2017 08:53

And bear, well done on nearly half a stone! Hope you feel better soon and have a good weekend Smile

Scandicat · 18/03/2017 12:55

Well done Bear and Bogburglar.

I'm 10 weeks today and for the first time, I've lost nothing this week. I'm actually 0.2 pounds up.

It's been quite a disrupted week, with the funeral making proper eating impossible for two days, but even so, that's disappointing. I know I've been slipping, eating things and not quite bothering to weigh them, so it has to be a bit of a wake up call. I'm so pleased with what I've achieved but I really want to make my goal, not get close and think I've done enough. So strict days today and tomorrow and more disciplined tracking next week.

jaxxyj · 18/03/2017 20:41

Hi all I have finished 9 weeks today. Lost 1stone 6lbs so far! In total I have lost 2 stone 12lbs It's my birthday next week so I am going to try to be strict this week so I can ease of on my birthday. My aim was to lose 3 stone by Easter so I am almost there! Thanks all for this thread, whilst I don't post very often, lurking does keep me going!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 19/03/2017 11:29

In the daily fail today there is a 5:2 book apparently with 3 different methods of doing the plan, from MM. I have been told there is a new version too, with some 'allowed grains' and other variations. I'm going to suspend my views of the DM and buy it today so will report back!

OP posts:
Scandicat · 19/03/2017 12:34

Well done Jaxxyj - you have definitely earned your birthday. 3 stone is brilliant. That's what I'm aiming for too - not set a date but maybe my birthday which is in June. I've got 12 pounds more to go, so feasible but only if I stay strict.

Bear - interesting, please do report back. Is it just 5:2 or is it a bit blood sugar/low carbs too?

Bogburglar75 · 19/03/2017 13:13

Happy birthday for next week Jaxxjy! And a small amount of well earned Cake?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 19/03/2017 14:02

Woman in the petrol station just looked at me very oddly when I paid £1.70 for the Fail, took the magazine, and asked her to bin the paper with my receipt!

Tbh it's nothing we don't already know. A 'new' 5:2 diet using elements of BSD - so having 5 days of non-counted Mediterranean style eating and two days of 800 cals med style. (The old fast diet was 5 days 'eat what you like' and 2 days at 500 cals) It's as if the two diets have been merged together. There's some recipes but I don't know if they're new or not, there's s little recap of the principles and that's about it.

We were talking about this on the other thread, some people came on saying they had been losing with higher cal days 650/ 800. I think the article (from photo) said to switch from 600 to 800 so pos that is for men and women could go up to 700 on their 5:2 fast days?
