How to get a 'beach-ready body'...

  1. Put something on your body.
  2. Go to the beach.

That's it, you're ready!

Seriously though. Beaches don't care if you're thin or fat. Enjoy the sun, get the vitamin D, rock your swimming cossie, tankini, bikini, wrap, or whatever you choose. Ignore the haterzzz!

Thanks Bear I think I'll do that next time - they felt lean iykwim, didn't have a greasy mouth-feel. But for now I'm doing exactly as you and using it to take account of the unconscious extras!

On to the next thread!

Flighty you could be very clever and weigh the fat and deduct the total from the total cals from the recipe. Eg. Recipe makes 10 meatballs = 650 cals, but say 10g fat comes out (fat has 9cal per gram) so deduct 90 calories. It does seem silly to throw precious calories away, although I tend to underestimate rather than over estimate so 'bank' those few extras to swallow up the extra nibble of cheese or the licked spoon of yoghurt!

Thanks for the new thread!

I was thinking about my wonderful lamb meatballs. They come in at 65 or so cals each. BUT, I cooked them separately from the sauce and left the fat in the pan, so I can only imagine that the actual caorie count is lower - well, that's my hope anyway!

Anyway, it's been avocado for breakfast, meatballs for lunch and I'm going to make a squash curry for supper.

I might end up slightly over but it won't be by much...

Thanks all :)

So far today has been:

Breakfast Greek yoghurt with strawberries and blueberries (only a few berries)

Lunch: Half an avocado mashed with cherry tomatoes, chilli and lemon juice topped with a poached egg and some sesame seeds

Leaves me just under 500 calories for dinner, not sure what I will have yet. Have some chicken breast in the fridge so may have a chicken breast with spinach or something. Am feeling quite hungry so am going to have some water!

As a rule moomin I would use the book menu plan as a reference, even if you do your own recipes. So for example, porridge oats, quinoa etc - they are used, but only a few times in a four week menu. Therefore I'd only use them the same number of times. I see a lot of people on the Facebook group I'm on having oats every day for example- this isn't the plan, technically.
I don't follow the book recipes now, but i do still use the ratios in there, especially if I'm struggling as it's very easy to overeat certain foods. I definitely find my carb cravings are related to the amount of even good carbs that i eat- my particular danger zones are fruit, too much dairy, and grains so I really do try to keep them at a minimum.

I'm still lurking. Life has been a bit chaotic, but I have not gained. I am also learning a bit about triggers and greed. Once I start eating I loose any idea of moderation, even though no am not hungry at all. One good thing though has been clambering back on the wagon the next day. I used to give up.

Itsu is my 'go-to' fast food option, though I would never rule out a cheeky Nando's. I love the way calories are clearly displayed and it is possible to have something hot, filling and tasty for only about 300 calories.

There was a branch almost opposite my daughter's school. She hated me spotting her when she was with friends on her way to the sports field.

I have been avoiding grains just as they may trigger me thinking it's ok to eat other carby things iyswim. I have never low carbed before so for me I wanted to avoid these kinds of things (I see peas as a treat, that's my level of sadness). I plan to reintroduce the grains after my first phase is over though.

Flighty I am so with you on cauli rice from shops being awful but fresh being ok.

Moomin - low carb is more filling and makes the lower cals easier to stick to, but I had some grains when doing my first 8 week stint, esp eg eating out at lunch time- I find so long as the portion is small and with protein, fat and ideally veg I am ok. I try and avoid things I know make me blood sugary though. I also try and combine with 16:8 fasting which quite a few people do.

I really didn't like shop cauli rice, home-chopped cauli is better but I tend to have it raw for texture.

I'm now 1.25lbs away from 1.5 stone. Hopefully I can do that this week...

As for quinoa, I had a thing yesterday made by Bol which had it in and was quite nice. Normally £4 a pot, on offer at Waitrose for £3, and it was yellow-stickered so £1.50! I wouldn't pay £4 for it!

Quinoa slightly weirds me out, it separates a little oddly and just disturbs me. I know that makes me sound like a freak!

I have but I loathe cauli rice. It also makes my fridge stink!

It's ok, I'm happy with veg :)

Moomin - I read that in the book too about bulgar wheat and quinoa. I've not tried them as I don't know what they are plus we shop at a small Asda and they have no low carb products at all.

Have you tried shop bought cauli rice? Very low in carbs and 35 cals for 1/2 packet.

MoominFlaps · 14/06/2017 08:43

Thanks!

The book says whole grains like quinoa and bulgar wheat are ok though - are people eating much of these?

My weight loss is certainly slowing down now compared to the first couple of weeks.

Phillis excersize size I don't do very much. Occasionally go for a run but not even once a week. I do stomach crunches leg lifts and I use a vibro plate for my legs since starting this 4 weeks ago. it has massively improved the look of my legs as I have and tend to get cellulite and almost huge chunks of my legs missing and it's not happened this time round.

Is everyone taking their measurements weekly and seeing how many inches they are loosing?

Oh wineandcakes thanks for that - I like the sound of that with some feta or salmon.

Can I ask what we're doing exercise wise? I'm getting in my 10k steps with a long walk on a Sunday and the odd yoga practice but haven't tried much else. I am definitely a bit more energetic now and am contemplating a run this evening just because it's lovely out and I want to move. Has everyone else done the hiit stuff?

Morning all

Moomin no not really, but I think this might have been veg cous cous which is made of blitzed up veg (in the vein of cauliflower rice)? Real cous cous should be used very sparingly if at all, although it is possible to have small amounts within the calorie allowance and lots of people do and still lose weight

I ended up eating loads before I went to bed last night, I just couldn't keep out of the kitchen! All on plan but I bet my calorie count was sky high. I did step on the scales this morning and it doesn't seem to have done too much damage but I can't be doing that again!
