What about Turkey Bear? I don't get on well with celeriac but someone on here (Mini?) recommended Hemsley & Hemsley celeriac carbonara which is delish but not low cal.

tobee · 12/06/2017 23:49

I used to think mince turkey was dry and tasteless bear, but I had some the other day which said minced turkey thigh and it was lovely. I think either Tesco or Sainsbury's. Although maybe it had a higher fat content? Anyway....

tobee · 12/06/2017 23:54

Btw I was thinking earlier today that, at the moment, I look upon eating rice, pasta, bread and the rest as something I can't do in the same way as I wouldn't drink and drive. But.. I say at the moment, I'm sure it could change quite easily and I might be lost to the Carbs.

CharlieSierra · 13/06/2017 07:18

Delurking to say hi, I'm just starting week 3 and I've lost 11lbs so far. The talk of lasagne drew me in as I made the skinny aubergine one from the BSD recipe book and it was surprisingly good, I will definitely make it regularly. It's also very quick and simple to make.

PhyllisWig · 13/06/2017 08:44

First week weigh in and 9lbs off BUT a good few pounds were the kind you get after a few bingey days which come off when you eat normally anyway. So down to 11 stone 0.5 of a lb. I'd love to get below 10.12 next week as that is my 'low' weight which I really struggle to get under even though it's still a good 10lbs overweight

PinkBlossomTree · 13/06/2017 10:03

Phylis that's amazing loss. Well done!
You will be in that next bracket next week.

Charlie 11lbs loss in 3 weeks is amazing.

My weights on the decrease again so really going to go for it this week.

What's the turkey mince like bear? We don't have much mince as even the lower fat stuff we find quite oily. Don't get me wrong love a bit of fat on meat but just don't like the smell of it. Plus I was banned from mince a few months ago after clogging the sink and having to call a plumber out.

We've gone over to turkey sausages the chilli ones in particular are beautiful and won't be going back to pork.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 13/06/2017 11:57

Pink I have only tried the very lean turkey mince and like pp found it very dry. That turkey thigh mince does sound better though. I was amazed at how high the calories were for mince- 191 cal per 100 for the beef and 119 per 100g for pork. I mixed the two types, and to be fair, I did get 6 portions of 'lasagna' and two nights tea of spag Bol for the kids from that, but even so!

Pink, which turkey sausages do you buy?

I love sausages and all mince and meatballs. But as you all say, they are all really high.

PinkBlossomTree · 13/06/2017 14:14

Oblo I buy sweet chilli turkey ones from Asda. Look in the turkey section rather than the sausages section.

yumyumpoppycat · 13/06/2017 15:28

I gave my dc turkey sainsbos sausages last week and they didn't notice any difference.

MoominFlaps · 13/06/2017 18:34

Hi everyone - may I join? Been doing 5:2 on and off for ages but going on holiday in mid August and thought I'd give this a try to see if I can shift the last stone.

I've got the book but the recipes don't seem very interesting - a lot of fruit with savoury which is my number 1 food hate! I'm loving looking at all your recipes :)

thenewaveragebear1983 · 13/06/2017 18:50

Welcome moomin, I don't really follow the book either- to many beans for my liking! I just use my own recipe books, I love Jamie recipes- and stick to no rice, pasta, potato, grains or sugar for the majority of the week really should do all week!

Spot of the day (am loving finding these). Nando's Mediterranean salad. Less than 300 cals and about 10g of carbs. Lovely generous plateful and I do love a Nando's

yumyumpoppycat · 13/06/2017 20:11

Ooh I have a spot of the day too - Boots meal deal 1 drink (water is the obvious but boring choice), chicken or veg salad (a few options are under 200 cals) and 2 boiled eggs for £3.39

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 13/06/2017 20:24

I've lost the plot. Help! Weekend overload has become Monday and Tuesday overload. Top tips for getting back on track ladies?!

PhyllisWig · 13/06/2017 20:55

Ginger, what are your favourite foods that fit? Plan a couple of days with the nicest foods you can think of

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 13/06/2017 21:26

My main meals are on plan, it's the unplanned eating I need to get under control.

Tomorrow is a month until a wedding I'm aiming for. Hopefully that will get my head bsck in the game!

Flibbertyjibbit · 13/06/2017 21:35

I've struggled today but managed not to go off plan by drinking water every time I was tempted by non plan food. If water didn't help I had a cup of tea and distracted myself with work. Might be worth trying an increase water ginger?

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 13/06/2017 22:21

You're right flibberty - pure willpower required!

Flibbertyjibbit · 13/06/2017 22:56

I hope that didn't come across in the wrong way, I know how hard it can be when willpower is required. Hope tomorrow is a better day for you.

JigglyTuff · 13/06/2017 23:00

Well I have lost just over 3lbs in a week which is pretty good going I think, considering my post-election off-pistedness on Friday.

Much more excitingly, my blood pressure is back within the normal range! It wasn't high, but it was at pre-hypertension levels. And today, it's normal! I'm delighted :)

ps Phyllis - you weren't kidding about the price at Itsu. £6!! I'm taking my own lunch in tomorrow :o

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 13/06/2017 23:44

Flibberty not at all! There's no reason why I can't get back to it; I've been doing well for 5 weeks and people had even started noticing the weightloss. I'm being my own worst enemy. Have to remember how the compliments made me feel whenever I'm teaching for the biscuits Grin

Bringmewineandcake · 14/06/2017 00:19

Tesco Rainbow Vegetable Cous Cous - absolutely delicious. Had it with a salmon fillet and some stir fry vegetables. Honestly did not miss having rice or noodles. Most yummy meal I've had in a while prawn pho anyone?
It's in the fresh / pre-prepared veg section.

MoominFlaps · 14/06/2017 06:46

Is cous cous ok to eat?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 14/06/2017 07:16

Morning all

Moomin no not really, but I think this might have been veg cous cous which is made of blitzed up veg (in the vein of cauliflower rice)? Real cous cous should be used very sparingly if at all, although it is possible to have small amounts within the calorie allowance and lots of people do and still lose weight

I ended up eating loads before I went to bed last night, I just couldn't keep out of the kitchen! All on plan but I bet my calorie count was sky high. I did step on the scales this morning and it doesn't seem to have done too much damage but I can't be doing that again!
