Thanks! Normally I'd now think I can afford to have a naughty treat this weekend but that's always been my downfall before. And before I know it, I'm treating myself a little too often and guess measuring some of my food. Am determined to stick this out for 8 weeks. Got another 3 stone to lose.

RueDeDay · 11/03/2017 06:44

Well my win for the weekend - after having a terrible day yesterday, premenstrual with lots of crap coming from my ex - was realising that even though I 'gave in' and ate some chocolate/had an easy dinner, because I stuck to 85% chocolate and kept to plan for the dinner, calories still came in at 1300 Shock Which is much less that I would have eaten on a normal day pre BSD! So am picking myself up and jumping back on the wagon. Bruised but not broken!

APlaceOnTheCouch · 11/03/2017 10:44

bear your dinner looks fab as always and well done on your 6lbs loss. That's a great result for second-time round. Smile
button what an excellent first week - that's amazing! You're nearly a stone closer to your target. Well done!
Rue that's a good way of looking at it. I do think one of the benefits of BSD is that you realise just how much 'real' food you can eat for few calories.
I actually had to go back to bed yesterday as I felt so ill.I have the most horrendous cold. DH bought nice fruit, ice lollies, ice cream, etc yesterday to increase my vitamin C and soothe my sore throat but I don't have much of an appetite. I think it will back to bed again today. At least sleeping is very BSD-compatible.

MyOtherDogIsAPorsche · 11/03/2017 11:13

Button - that is amazing, well done! It really must be the best incentive to keep going. I have lost a much less impressive amount, but still it's 5 lb in 10 days so not too bad I guess. When I started I concentrated on removing the sugar/carbs and now I am going back and looking at my calories. Finally getting to grips with mfp - wow, what a useful app.

Scandicat · 11/03/2017 12:28

Well done Button First Dog and Bear - great losses. Even the ones that seem a little bit smaller are brilliant if you keep them going. I worked out on average after the big first week, I'm only losing 2 pounds a week. At first, that looks similar to what other diets promise, but I've never managed that in reality. Even being really strict on 1200 calories on the basic MFP principles, I've never managed to lose more than about 1/2 pound a week. In a month, that's a difference of 8 pounds v 2 pounds.

I had a really bad day yesterday. Went out for lunch with DH and was going to have a meal off. But I made healthy Mediterranean type choices and it was kind of disappointing. I should have gone home and just got on with it, but I felt like I'd missed out on my treat day and I ate quite a lot of stuff I shouldn't have at home. Like Rue, I kind of stuck to the principles, but although I kept my carbs down to about 60, I ended up at about 1400 cals (ate lots of peanuts). Felt really angry with myself for having no self control, but in the scheme of things, it could have been worse. Promised myself a proper, strict day today and have meal planned accordingly.

Today is my week 9 weigh in. Its fair to say that even ignoring yesterday, I've not been quite as strict, calories more like 800-900 range. And the good thing is it hasn't made any real difference. I lost 1.8 pounds last week, so that brings my total loss since 1 January to 27.4 pounds Excitingly, that's only 0.6 away from 2 stone and since I started at 12 stone, I'm so close now to being under 10 stone. That is very very exciting.

Oblomov17 · 12/03/2017 03:24

I am awake at silly o'clock.

Well done Bear, Button and Scandi.

Can you all please give me your 'exact' (for idiots) muffin recipes? whilst we all continue to try and decide on the best muffin tin, because I've never made them and am very interested.

I went to spend the day with my mum on Friday (she's had a knee replacement) and she said I was looking "glam, fabulous and very trim", so that was nice to hear.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 12/03/2017 08:44

I do about 5 eggs for a 12 hole tray. Whip them up, splash of milk, salt, pepper etc. Then grease the tray well - you could line each hole with a slice of ham or bacon perhaps, but I do find my nice non stick tray is ok. I add various extras so either mushrooms, bacon and cheese, or salmon and broccoli, or sundried toms and olives. If you add a half tsp bicarb to the mixture they will rise and be much more fluffy. Bake for about 15 minutes or until cooked through.

Sorry it's not a very exact recipe. If you look up crustless quiches there will be recipes online. Some people add cottage cheese or other ingredients so it's worth browsing til you find one you like

Morning all
I have been reading your threads, lots of helpful info.
I'm starting tomorrow, so shopping and meal planning today. I am nearly 11st, 50, 5ft 4" with weight around my middle. My aim is 9st, healthy waist, fit and energetic. I have committed to long family weekend walk, daily 30mins walking, weekly swim plus cycling for transport/shopping.
What have you all found to be a great breakfast? I was going for greek yoghurt and seeds and maybe some frozen berries. I"ll pull the book out again now

Scandicat · 12/03/2017 17:26

Hi Magical. I haven't had breakfast at all. I find it much easier to divide my calories into 2 meals so they are both a bit more substantial. I do have greek yogurt for lunch sometimes though - usually with a flapjack from the BSD recipe book. It's yummy and quite sweet because of the berries in it.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 12/03/2017 19:02

I've had a rubbish day today. Eaten loads of crappy junk leftover party food, and now feel revolting. Have a throbbing migraine too which no amount of nurofen has shifted so just feeling bleaugh.

I hate the way the weekends just destroy all my efforts from the week every single time! I'm so frustrated with myself!

EatsLeavesAndShit · 12/03/2017 21:47

I fell so far off the wagon this weekend, the wagon is just a tiny dot in the distance. Sad I ate lots of chocolate, rice, around 2500 calories every day.

Ahh well, tomorrow is the start of another week.

Bogburglar75 · 13/03/2017 07:11

Poor EatsLeaves! I hope at the very least you enjoyed it? And tomorrow is another day as they say.

My week not starting well. Weight on Sunday morning down to 11stone9.6. Dead pleased. A rather iffy but not outrageous day yesterday - about 1200 cals but mainly the right things. This morning scales say 11st11.4.

And yes I know that's within normal fluctuations/ this is why you shouldn't weigh in every day/I have raging PMT and am probably retaining enough water to float a small navy, but am not happy! see raging PMT

FirstSeemItThenBeIt · 13/03/2017 08:04

The weekend was an absolute bust, ended up having take away more than once!

If I'm honest though, I'm not too fussed. I'll just get back on it today.

FirstSeemItThenBeIt · 13/03/2017 08:06

Hi Magical I usually have a boiled egg, some Greek yoghurt and blackberries or cucumber and hummus. I try to leave it until nearer mid-morning though to try to not have such a huge gap between meals.

Justonemorecupoftea · 13/03/2017 08:46

4lb down now at the end of week two, I am so chuffed Smile I can't remember the last time I went two weeks without a drink but I'm doing my best to stick to the rules at first. I still have loads to go but big losses at the beginning are very motivating for me. A family member had part of his foot amputated last week and that is not going to be me so I have to do this now.

I took out a small mortgage and bought a lovely looking new muffin pan with a non stick guarantee (Hmm) so I will try it later and let you know. I really like bear's idea of a ham base though so will try that as well.

Magical I don't have a formal breakfast, I tend to save calories for an earlyish lunch of boiled eggs and a huge salad of mainly green stuff. If I am hungry when I wake up a spoon of Greek or natural yoghurt helps me.

I still haven't mastered 10000 steps every day, that's my challenge for this week Smile

MaudesMum · 13/03/2017 12:13

Hi all. I've been lurking for a bit, and finding the various emails really helpful! I'm nearly three weeks into this, but didn't get round to buying scales until last week - I think I was too scared to face the horrible truth - but that does mean I've lost a 'bit' of weight before starting weighing myself - I definitely have less tummy than I did before I started. I'm mid-50s, wear size 20, and last week weighed in as 15.7 stone. Yikes, although to be fair even when I was thin in the long distant past, I was still pretty heavy, so I do have a large frame. Frightened into doing this by a recent blood test which said I was pre-diabetic, and I really don't want to go down that route. Overall aim is to get to get blood sugar levels down to normal, obviously, but I would like to be size 16 again- not sure what that translates to in terms of weight, but lets say two stone? I like the thought of short-term targets as well, so my first of those is being 15 stone or under by the Easter weekend. I'm finding the diet pretty ok, in that I'm missing bread, pasta or sweet things much less than I thought I would, but my two main weaknesses are definitely portion sizes and alcohol... So I'm being careful with the first and restricting the second to weekends, smaller amounts than usual, and ensuring that I have low-cal mixers with my gin!

Magical I'm having either yoghurt with fruit/nuts for breakfast or scrambled eggs (possibly with a little bit of smoked salmon). I'm finding that both of them keep me full until lunch, which was initially a bit of a surprise.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 13/03/2017 12:45

Hopefully back on track today- had no breakfast but have just had a carton of soup with feta cheese crumbled in it and a spelt and grain cracker. Dh has an old uni friend staying tonight so there is talk of Chinese, but I'm tempted to just have crispy duck and salad. I might just rustle something up for myself and leave them to it......

Sun shining here, it's a beautiful day. Been for a walk with ds in the pushchair and feeling a little spring in my step!

magicalrealistmum · 13/03/2017 19:02

Thanks for all the breakfast tips and good luck to all . I had pepper with jewelled feta for dinner, very tasty

ButtonBoo · 13/03/2017 21:32

For breakfast, I usually have the full fat Greek yoghurt with rhubarb compote from the BSD book on weekdays. 160 cals. It's tart as hell because of no sugar but its weirdly quite addictive when you get used to it. I have the goats cheese, pine nuts and Portobello mushrooms (again from the BSD book) at weekends. 150 cals.

MyOtherDogIsAPorsche · 14/03/2017 07:25

Struggling here 😣. I have followed this woe pretty strictly for 2 weeks now and have only lost 5 lbs. I know 5 lbs is 5 lbs but I am feeling disheartened. I do plan on continuing because I am hoping the doctor will see the improvement in my blood tests even I see little change on the scales but I was really hoping for a more dramatic shift. Am always below 1000 cals and 50g of carbs. Where am I going wrong?

Scandicat · 14/03/2017 13:13

Don't be disheartened Dog. 5lbs in two weeks will be 10lbs in four weeks and getting on for a stone in five. If someone told you you could lose a stone in just over a month, that would be good, right? After week 1, I've lost between 1.5 and 2 pounds a week, but in total I've now lost two stone. The absolute key is to keep going.

My week's ok so far. Going to a funeral tomorrow though Sad which involves travelling and staying away. So going to write tomorrow off entirely.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 14/03/2017 17:34

Sorry for your loss Scandi Flowers

TOTM here so will probably fluctuate by about 3lbs over the course of the week. Feeling meh and have to go back in to doctor for more blood tests once I get over this cold.

Scandicat · 14/03/2017 19:41

Thanks Place . Sorry you're feeling meh. That's a phrase that gets used a lot in our house.

Dinner disaster here. DH cooked for me and the DC but went out as it came out of the oven. Was supposed to be a chicken bake with courgette instead of pasta. He's made it before and it was yummy but tonight it was inedible and the whole lot went in the bin. Think maybe he rushed it and it wasn't cooked through properly, it felt like lots of bits all chucked together with no flavour and the courgette was a bit raw and really watery. So my plan for very low carb and being really healthy today isn't looking good. At the moment I'm at 418 calories and 9g of carbs. I guess I could just go with that, but I'm bloody starving and there's wine open in the fridge...

thenewaveragebear1983 · 14/03/2017 19:48

Well the whole day today has been a total write off. I don't even know why. Probably totm combined with too much sugar over the weekend but I just couldn't stop eating all day and I've eaten absolute crap. I've now got that horrible sugar over-dose feeling. Bleaugh.

Hi there, I joined in briefly at the end of the last thread but have not been a regular poster. I'm 3.5 weeks in and have lost 8 pounds. The losses just seem so low now compared to the limited calories. Am I just expecting too much? I should be pleased with the 8 pounds and am actually slimmest I've been in at least 2 years.
