Not such a fab day today. Feel tired shakey and low. It is first day of af so am sure that doesn't help but I wonder if it's a bit of carb flu too.

DH has been a diamond though. Usually he is of the no nonsense or sympathy school but he's suggested I head upstairs for a nap whilst he looks after dds, he made their lunch so I didn't get 'tempted' (he does all the cooking/childcare in the week and I do the weekends). He also got me a fruit basket water bottle as a treat and has been making different combos up for me when I get home.

Nice to have a bit more time for food prep. Greek yog with grated Apple, cinnamon and a teaspoon of peanut butter for breakie. Tofu and tomato spicy scramble with cucumber and herb salad plus a slice of that bread flighty suggested. Veggie sausages and veggies for tea. All yummyand on plan. I'm generally just over 800 cals each day but not over 900 and around 50g of carbs if not a bit below.

PhyllisWig · 10/06/2017 13:34

Well done flibberty, excellent loss.

Shame about the bread - was it sold out or do they not stock it? I found it in my local one today which is a medium size one - do you have another anywhere close?

Oblomov17 · 10/06/2017 13:36

Morning, I have a huge Costco salad 🥗 to share with Dh.

Errrm, that's after eating 2 Costco cookies and drinking tonnes of wine, on my night out with ds1's football team mums, ooops!! Blush

Well done Perdy !!

Flibbertyjibbit · 10/06/2017 13:50

Thanks Phyllis Sorry to hear your not feeling so good. Maybe try upping fat in your diet today? I find that helped my carb flu, bit of butter on veg or splash of cream in coffee.

I asked at waitrose customer services as I looked in bakery and free from section. Not all stores are stocking the bread, she said they won't be getting it any time soon. We have 2 big waitrose stores nearby, neither will be getting it. She did have a look for me to see where I could get it, nearest store stocking it is 45 miles away, google maps tells me it will take 1 hour 15 minutes to get there. DP was not impressed when I suggested an afternoon drive just for a loaf of bread Blush I might make it my reward at end of week 4, not been to the town before so could go for a walk/coffee and pick up the bread Grin.

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 10/06/2017 14:37

Drank a lot. A LOT. last night but didn't stop at the kebab house on the way home so technically it's a win Grin

12st6.75 this morning. Down from 13st 2.75 on 8 May. I think that's about 10lbs? Aiming for another half stone over the next 5 weeks and I'll be at my lowest adult weight.

Half marathon tomorrow so I am having plenty of carbs today and planning a takeaway tomorrow to "refuel" Hmm Back on it from Monday. Have a great weekend everyone

Perdyboo · 10/06/2017 15:26

Well done on weightlosses!! Can I share my new favourite snack?? I did shopping on way home from picking hungry teenage boy up. He inhaled a wrap and orange juice while I munched through this - I can't normally eat spice but this had just enough of a fresh kick

Perdyboo · 10/06/2017 15:26

Ps and thanks for the congrats xxx

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 10/06/2017 16:11

How substantial is it Perdy? Would it do as a lunch?

Flightywoman · 10/06/2017 16:46

Oh Flibberty I am sorry about that Sad

Well done on losses everyone, my WI day is Monday - I'm not expecting a loss this week, but that's ok.

It's bolognese tonight, courgetti for me, pasta for the others.

I should come in under 700 cals which is good after the last couple of days.

I did actually add in my takeaway and the day's cals were under 1200, so it could have been a lot worse!

Perdyboo · 10/06/2017 16:48

Well, it did me. I haven't eaten again since... 164 cals 9g protein and I think carbs were below 3g. Fibre was 5.something. It's definitely gone on my list as a lunch option

Oblomov17 · 10/06/2017 17:06

Perdy, Perdy , I had one if those on Wednesday. See photo. For my lunch, so yes, it's substantial enough for a lunch.
Aldi has just opened next to my work!!

Sainsbury has a similar one. With just enough kick to make it nice.

yumyumpoppycat · 10/06/2017 17:10

Hello everyone can I rejoin, I think I need the accountability as I have regained while I have been off thread and keep having failed attempts at losing the last bit slowly and sensibly -as a result I am 10lbs up on lowest post BSD weight ( still 30lbs lighter than when I started BSD so not awful). I am aiming for 129lbs which is pretty much a stone now. The thread slipped off my threads I am on so hopefully this will bring it back and I can catch up with you all properly!

tobee · 10/06/2017 17:18

I hope this doesn't sound unsupportive coz it's not meant to, but do you think because it's so hard to stick to 800 calories that this diet is really just a bit too restrictive for most people, day in day out for 8 weeks? Since my first week ended and I had my massive wobble I've tried not to stress too much about the calories. I'm just wary of getting frustrated with myself and getting a downer on myself. I feel converted to this way of eating right now and never uncomfortably hungry and apart from two alcoholic drinks over nearly six weeks I haven't been seriously tempted by "forbidden" foods. I'm managing to lose weight at a higher rate, not as much as some, than I ever have before but... Such a low cal intake over 8 weeks is a really long time!

I don't want to dis people who are managing this bsd properly, I think that's great if you can, but I keep reading about people messing up and hope they arent giving themselves a hard time.

yumyumpoppycat · 10/06/2017 17:57

Tobee I cheated a tiny bit with what I ate most days on my first 8 weeks but overall was consistent and that seemed to work - I think life can get in the way with this diet though a lot more than on a lot of other plans. I like knowing its there in my pocket though and I can come back to it and lose weight quickly - pos not the healthiest method but I tell myself we evolved with feast and famine ;).To be honest every diet will have people messing up, I genuinely think there is a successful method out there for everyone but its not the same diet for everyone,

yumyumpoppycat · 10/06/2017 18:03

...I think the strictness also allows a bit of wriggle room so if you are eating the right type of food but not sticking to the low cals that is very much a more healthy approach than mine Blush Med diet seems to be the most backed method at the moment too.

Perdyboo · 10/06/2017 18:07

I understand what you are saying tobee but my weightloss journey will hopefully be longer than the 8 weeks towards a healthier weight and way of eating. If I can view 800 as the norm but go off plan in the future and have 1200,1400 or even 2000 that will still be less than my previous norm.
I agree with you that I hope some people are not giving themselves a hard time but likewise, other people have been offplan and then come back still lighter than original starting points. I think I could cope with that. Personally, I am reeducating my mindset, appetite and tastebuds on these early days. More importantly I have not binged in the past fortnight. I'm not saying I never will, but actually...have I had a craving for forbidden foods? No.
A pp phrased it spot on by saying they would sell kids for donuts and I laughed because I sooo identified with that. Like you said, the temptation for forbidden foods hasn't been that overwhelming yet, so let's see how far we can get with this :)
Welcome yumyum and oblomov, isn't it yum???

tobee · 10/06/2017 18:33

I'm glad people don't seem to think I'm being undermining. I agree with your responses. I might have posted this at any time in the last few weeks but didn't want to word it poorly and make it seem like I'm challenging this diet because I'm not and thinking behind it has been a revelation to me. I just know that loads of dieters have such low self esteem (me for starters!) that it's easy to give yourself a kicking when we diverge from whatever plan we follow. I think so much about dieting is about psychology as well as biology. And I'm truly impressed by everyone's successes and hope they are with themselves too!

JigglyTuff · 10/06/2017 19:30

Perdy - I think that's a really good way of looking at it. I had a vodka and (slimline) tonic last night - it put me over 800cals but it was so horribly sweet, I didn't want to repeat the experience. I don't think that has ever happened to me before.

I've also just had the lamb and aubergine dish from the book and I thought it was too fatty and really needed some more veg with it. And I'm someone who never leaves the fat on any meat ever.

The way I look at it is that there are 3 levels of the diet - level 1: the hardcore 800 cals every day; level 2: the 5:2 version; and level 3: and the all med, no counting level. If I slip off the 800 pedestal, I'm going onto level 2 but just for a day. So rather than 5:2, I've 1:6 this week.

I'm fully prepared to carry on going at this level for more than 8 weeks. It's doable I think.

Hear hear! raises glass of sparkling water with chunks of lime

tobee · 10/06/2017 19:49

Thinking about this and reading your replies I realised something. I've remembered what it's like to be full since doing this. As in a really proper sensation of that's enough. I think people often lose that ability, dont they? Kind of ride past it because it takes a while for food to hit the stomach. Or something? Not horrible stuffed, uncomfortable full.

Flibbertyjibbit · 10/06/2017 19:52

jiggly I love your different levels. I will have to remember level 2 when I eventually slip from level 1. Hope to make it to end of week 4 before I slip to level 2.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 10/06/2017 20:01

I think for me the reason why it doesn't work all the time is because this plan is about making food be purely about nourishment and fuel. For me, food is not always about nourishment and fuel. At those times, what I know is right and what I ultimately do are very different. I have had a lifelong battle with food, and I don't know how to change it. The restricted calories actually help me to a degree, because it's cut my daily 'food thinking/eating' time in half. When I do it well, I do it very well, but I have such a disastrous relationship with food that I never do well for very long.

OP posts:
Nomoocluck · 10/06/2017 20:03

I've not managed to keep to 800 cals most days, but have exercised to make up for the excess calories. Usually end the day on about 1000 cals Blush.

Old habits die hard. Had popped a mini cupcake laden with chocolate and buttercream straight into my mouth when it was offered at a play date earlier today and immediately thought 'oh no!'. Couldn't get rid of it without looking like a loon, so ate it begrudgingly.

jiggly I'm adopting your mindset! If I'm not on a BSD day, then it's just a non-fast day, not a cheat day.
