Well the new working scales show me at 11 4 this morning which is a pound off since Monday which is something I suppose but not as good as I was hoping for.

Made another feeble attempt at a HIIT workout this morning, I am so unfit! Will persevere though and hope for an improvement. Have an unexpected visitor round after school tonight, so the housework that was going to be put off until the weekend had better get done I suppose!

Well we had a good time last night.

Chose some boar terrine thing for starter which we shared, I had some leaves with it and DH had the bread.
Then the duck with flagelot and chorizo cassoulet which was really salty and a huge portion which I couldn't anywhere near finish.

I only ate a small ricotta and pear salad all day, with a mug of miso soup and a slice of ham as a snack.

Jumped on the scales this morn and I'm up by 2 flaming lbs!!!
and I feel soooo thirsty so drinking water and herbal teal ike a fish and hoping it's all down to water retention.
Didn't drink any booze just 3 large wine glasses of soda water with slices of lime and lemon so it felt a big celebratory.

It can be a bit of a rollercoaster all this business can't it? Am gonna step away from the scales again for a couple of days, drink loads and walk the dog and that should do the trick.

Pleased you had a good time oola - I am finding things salty now too, this is weird, don't use much in cooking, mainly on eggs, but when we go out now I seem to be able to taste more salt in stuff, or is I an effect of the diet

tiredemma - here we go:

Courgettes,
Celeriac
Eggs
Some decent veggie stock or miso
Cottage cheese, goats cheese, feta, cheddar
Celery
Almonds
Chickpeas
Cans of Green lentils
Cans of Cannellini beans (any beans, butter beans, borlotti)
Salad stuff
Peppers
Cauli
Gram flour (I make my own flatbreads)
Milled flaxseed
Ginger
Lots of herbs & spices (helps jazz stuff up - I use a lot of chilli)
Greek Yoghurt
Olive oil
Walnuts
Pine nuts
Coconut water (stevia sweetened not fructose)
Light almond milk
Herb teas
Ham

These are all my regular buys, along with chicken breasts, fish, steak, pork fillet & mince! We eat a lot of ratatouille type stuff with chicken fish on the side, alternated by grilled fish with lentils, or cannellini beans (mashed). We will all have foods in common but everyone will also have different ones!

I use a spiraliser a lot now, well DH does,I love what comes out the other end but spiralising a celeriac is beyond me!

Oola - I feel your pain! Your reaction to a slight gain is far more proactive than mine!!

A stone down in 3 months isn't shabby at all moo especially if you haven't been doing it 100% I'm 13.4 pound down in 11 weeks and yeah I'm a bit meh it isn't better but that's my fault, not the plan (Lushy Lushy lushettes!) Step back and regroup, no point in feeling miserable. The scales can really downplay changes, you can have other great nsv even if the scales isn't showing mega losses. I'm toying with the idea of hiding the scales until next Friday and learning to trust myself a bit.

Hello folks - end of week 3 here. 7lb lost altogether. Happy with that. Another big meal out tonight which I don't have much control over (will forgo the startchy bits if possible), and I know I'll have 3-4 glasses of wine. Plus there will be some cake this weekend and a pub lunch on Monday. Back on it on Tuesday and will try to make sensible choices in the meantime.

Just read that it takes 100 litres of water to grow just 1 avocado, they are off the regular shopping list then. Confused shame as they are a nice treat chopped onto a salad.

Well my delivery of cauli pilau rice arrived today so I guess I'll be having a curry this evening.

This week has been static for me. I am hoping or wishfully thinking that the scales have a sudden lurch downwards tomorrow.

I can feel a difference in my clothes. I was saying to DH I should have measured my little pot belly at the start as I'm pretty sure it's smaller but because it sits below my waist, I don't have a starting measurement. Grin

I actually made a checklist of everything I ate last week and everything I ate this week to see if I could work out what the difference was. One of the main differences seemed to be that I ate more soup last week so that's probably part of my diet for the next three days.

Report
H3l3naGraham · 29/04/2016 14:17

So we have lots of static, a few losses, 1 gain, lots of frustration.

Hang on in there ladies, I might be static (own fault) but my clothes are looser, I got my too-small knickers (bought in error 4 years ago.....) on today & they fit perfectly!!! I have dropped a cup size and have dropped 2 jeans sizes, albeit M&S ones, they are still 2 sizes smaller. So we can share these good NSV things too.
Smile

I am focussing on these positive highlights & next week I have 7 clear days to get back on top of things, walk every day, eat 800 & no lushing........

We will get there, but it won't always work quite the way we'd like it to (we are human after all!)

I keep having to remind myself that it's not just about calories, it's about sugary foods & carbs too, it is about being healthier & looking after my poor old bod which has taken far too much abuse in the food & drink direction!

You're right h3l3na, but dammit don't you wish the scales would cooperate just once!
It's definitely changing my body shape, I am slowly inching into smaller jeans and my stomach/waist is down a whopping 5inches! I must keep reminding myself that almost a stone in a month is blooming awesome and I have had 3 babies which has destroyed my body for ever and done no exercise in 10 years. For me the biggest change is that, for the first time in my memory I have actually stuck to a plan, I haven't fallen off the wagon. I have willpower! It has done so much for my self esteem, because even though I am a long term dieter, I'm a pretty rubbish one usually and am terrible at the detox/retox cycle and yoyo dieting. This plan has shown me a way of eating that I believe I can actually sustain until I am thin at my target weight.

Wow bear 5 inches!

Mines gone down by 2 inches which isn't bad for less than 3 weeks. A long way to go yet though!

For tonight we have piri piri chicken breast, salad and chips for DP. Might make mine a Greek style salad with some olives and feta. That will take me up to about the full 800 cals though without allowing for the inevitable wine. Blush

H3l3naGraham · 29/04/2016 15:11

new/bear that is a fantastic result, 5 inches of fat has gone from your waist & you have discovered willpower too, these are truly brilliant results! happy for you & so please that like me, you are looking at it as a future way of life too (with occassional transgressions!)

clare - 2 inches of fatty middle, ye ha! In 3 weeks, that is an excellent result. Wine is my weakness too, if you can, have red as it is better than white for your body as it has more good things in it. If you go OTT tonite, just cut back tomorrow or try to get in an early morning walk in tomorrow before the rain starts... She says from her sofa....... Am trying to work but laptop has died, DH is attempting to fix it, so stress levels not good in the household at the moment......

I'm loving all these positive bits - keep em coming please!

I agree with H313 on the shopping list. Sounds all so delicious when listed like that.

Having the ginger pork tonight. Got some asparagus to go with it and might do a mini veg stir-fry instead of the rice. Not made that yet so hope it's good.

My body feels sooo much better since starting all this. I can walk up the big hill by our house without feeling rubbish now, my waist is smaller, I have more energy in the afternoons and I'm not getting so much pain from my psoriatic arthritis, so all good incentives to keep me going. Just a few emotional lumps in the road to navigate and more to come I should imagine.

Breakfast was porridge made with almond milk, some berries & dust/nut powder. Lunch was mushroom soup, home-made (basically mushies & stock) . Dinner grilled salmon with a side of lentils braised with celery, carrot, onion, kale & garlic, broccoli & a couple of green beans. Not unsurprisingly we can't eat it all....... Very healthy but now we are going to a blues/soul concert, seated... With wine. Hum. Mind you was so ill yesterday, know I will behave self for once. Determined to, can't lose a Sat with a hangover like yesterday's again...

Had the 'slim' cassoulet last night, was yum, rest is frozen. If anyone wants the recipe I am happy to oblige!

Have a lovely holiday weekend all! Smile

H3l3na you should be a motivational speaker. Thanks for highlighting all the positives Grin

I just noticed another NSV - my face is a little bit thinner. I wasn't sure if I was fooling myself but I have a pic from just before I started the BSD and I took one today and compared them - yep, definitely thinner.

We have a family event/party tomorrow. It's at lunchtime but I'm hoping the food isn't too tempting.

Anyone have any good ideas for a satisfying snack I could have before I scoff a load of crap in desparation? Thanks x

not2b that's one hell of a result - am scraping DH of the floor so guess I won that one! Chips, chips, chips. no actually, want a smaller tum!!

oola - eat cheese, not sure what went wrong, that recipe is not too bad, but cheese/nuts always take a bad taste away, apparently when you crave sugar, steak, cake, as long as you chew something with texture, within 30mins, your brain recognises something rewarding... Whatever it is, brain says yum....allegedly.

Ye ha! Despite transgressions & being VERY BAD, I am now the lowest weight I have been for 12 years. Very motivated this AM, got up early, am having psyllium in coconut water in an attempt to regulate my poor bum, then will have a 1/2 carrot before going on my walk. Will have bacon, mushrooms and one of my weekend pieces of rye toast for brunch, dinner will be a sort of moussaka, a light version as I have aubergines to use up.
