The only problem with my hostessing is it takes at least 1 days prepping (10 trips to shop etc) so the stress factor (for everyone in my house goes on longer) This is from years of going to eat somewhere for my arrival to be the cue to start thinking about maybe getting the food prep done, I'm sitting there nearly crying cause I starved all day in anticipation and dinners another 2 hours away 😖 And I'm a h'angry type so it's a struggle! Wine helps though...give me a glass bucket and I'm much more docile
Of course on the flip side my guests are nearly handed their plate in return for their jackets😁
Yum bravo on the 147.9! Happy days missy

Am laughing lots Not2B - we have a very dear friend, who simply cannot cook to save her life. DH now insists we eat before we go there, at least enough to stop our tummies rumbling - we often reminisce about the summer she acquired a Chiminea BBQ type thing, hadn't pre-lit it in advance of anyone arriving & then proceeded to chuck solid blocks of smelly fire-lighters inside it to 'get it going' ....... But the food was in there as well. Toxic.....

Brekkie next morning was a semi-frozen pain-au-chocolat, neither DH nor I eat this type of thing, there was no toast, no yoghurt, nothing, nursed shocking hangovers & fire-lighter poisoning back home to eat own body-weights in bacon sandwiches.....Easter Wink

Not2bObvious · 26/03/2016 14:29

Oh dear, the thoughts of food with a soupçon of firelighter is frightening, you poor things? Your dh has the right idea! We ended up out for lunch before going to dinner in chief faffers house but misjudged the amount we should have ate at lunch & could barely eat the dinner (arrived at 7, starter @9.30pm, dinner @10pm...) Omg, he's never let me forget it! Everytime we're invited he reminds me not to eat too much lunch - I eventually snapped & told him if I didn't have to wait so long for dinner I wouldn't have ate so much in fear Blush Not my finest moment but it's my bro so he forgave me 😁 Still makes me wait hours for food though...

I've had to abandon the low carb thing today due to some stomach bug. I need to eat something dry and salty like crackers before I faint. Our whole house has been struck down with it. Blah.

Not2bObvious · 26/03/2016 16:44

That's fair enough Burger, hope you feel better soon Flowers
I did a hiit/kettle bell workout that had the word brutal in the title, it was more than brutal - it felt like a massacre! I don't think I'll ever manage a full burpee. I then did a 40 min walk, did shopping, some prep for tonight's dinner, prep for tomorrow's lunch - I'm lying down for an hour before I get up to make dinner, I've company but this time there'll be no bottle of wine and warbling to Adele and Streisand and Coldplay Hmm until the wee hours. I have an Easter egg hunt to set up, write clues, decorate. I plan on collapsing tomorrow evening and no getting back up til Tuesday morning! So glad it's a 4 day weekend

Good grief Not2B are you chanelling your inner Kirstie Allsopp or something..... I feel totally inadequate, you get my award for Superwoman!!! Enjoy your lie-down Halo

BurgerBob you might all have Norovirus does the rounds at this time of year, feel for you, dreadful bug, especially with little people smitten, you must feel like a nurse...hope you recover quickly.

Not2bObvious · 26/03/2016 17:40

I'd settle for feeling like ok'woman now H3l, I feel wrecked - I wish I didn't have company tonight, but it's too late now to cancel & I couldn't anyway - my Dad comes once/twice a week to stay, widowed last year. He's with me twice this week as I felt guilty that my bro had to have him twice last week as we were away and I'd had him twice the week before we went. Truly he's no bother but he needs attending to iykwim, not great in his feet, getting on. When I feel weary like this (my own fault I know) it's a bit overwhelming. Anyway! Enough weeping willow, I'm glad to have him, hate him being alone & lonely

H3l3naGraham · 26/03/2016 18:54

Not2B - you are a woman with a warm, generous heart, your focus on your dad is admirable. It must be tough, juggling so much, don't feel bad being shattered, you are only human after all.

Not2bObvious · 26/03/2016 20:00

Thank you H3l, I really appreciate you saying that, it's been a rough year in lots of ways but knowing he's cared for & knows he's loved is of ultimate importance to us. xxx

Day 6 of my restart and pleased to report I have lost my carbfest weight gain plus another 1lb so 15lb lost in total. Not noticing it in appearance though. I didn't measure myself at beginning, weighing myself was bad enough!
Planning to resist the chocolate tomorrow but will be a challenge as ds couldn't wait until tomorrow and presented me with a huge white chocolate egg! DH will have to hide it I think! Smile

Not2bObvious · 26/03/2016 22:34

Here's an idea welsh, hide the egg for a few days & next weekend melt it down with the kids and make chocolate buttons, you can have a few without ruining anything and they'll love it. I remember doing that as a kid, sheet of baking paper and I was away!

After being so pleased yesterday morning over losing so much weight I go and sabotage myself. Went out for dinner and ended up having not only rice but naan and potatoes too. I had over 200g of carbs yesterday compared to less than 50 on a normal day. On a positive note I had no alcohol.

To punish me my body has been in agony today. I'm bloated and keep bending over double with really painful trapped wind. I'm really runny loo wise too. Well it serves me right and I'm never doing that again, ouch. Have been good today though.

H3l3naGraham · 27/03/2016 11:07

Morning All - Interesting about measuring self WelshBubba - I didn't either, but wish I had now, as it would help with getting new clothes, standing like a llemon in a clothes shop saying sort-of-medium-to-big is quite frankly, useless. You probably are shape-shifting but haven't 'seen it' - too used to seeing the old you, I didn't notice it until people started telling me I'd slimmed down in my face, then I realised I was losing chins, then one of my tummy's went too.

I will need to re-measure chest though, still more than ample, but have noticed my bras are becoming a bit baggy, this will mean a trip to the local (very tiny) M&S and a sort through their interesting stock - they struggle with the idea that anyone under 80 wants bras, might have to indulge next time I'm in town.

Not2B - I hope that the sun is shining on you this morning & that last night's supper went well, am sure that the clues for the Easter Egg hunt got written - only a few hours to go before you can put your feet up & chill out. Have a glass of something nice, I think you more than deserve one!

welshbubba · 27/03/2016 14:49

Happy Easter everyone!

Aaargh there's so much chocolate around! Even the 2 year old has polished off an easter egg for breakfast! (DH was in charge, I was in bed!). May have to follow your idea Not2B although my egg has bits of raspberry in the chocolate so not sure how well it would melt...At the moment have promised myself a small piece, supervised by DH(!!), whilst we watch the last episode of The Night Manager tonight which we are completely hooked on.

Zobalina I had the same problem when I ate a load of carbs. My body was definitely unhappy! It did settle but don't do what I did and take that as a green light to continue eating Easter Blush.

Just about to start cooking a roast lamb dinner but am going to avoid the roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings! Halo

Obs2016 · 27/03/2016 17:04

Back from our Easter holiday. Lots of wine consumed. Having a small amount of chocolate today.
And going to try and be very strict for a whole week starting tomorrow.

Obs2016 · 27/03/2016 17:08

Love sound of Laska's 50's outfit.

H3l3naGraham · 27/03/2016 18:26

Hmmmm....... I am suffering from an excess of hypocrisy, a lovely lunch and a fat gut as a result of not sticking to my principles.

Serves me right....... Need to be more sensible not burning my boats.....

Feeling stupid, fat, bloated......

yumyumpoppycat · 27/03/2016 18:35

H I may have had 1200 cals at my mums!!!!!!!!!!!!! But that's it nothing else today except cups of tea, and I have exercised today. No idea what the scales will say tomorrow (literally we have talking scales ;) )

Breadandwine · 27/03/2016 20:21

Hi folks!

Hope you're all having a happy Easter!

I've come on the thread to agree with bubba - The Night Manager is fantastic! I've watched every episode again on iPlayer - just so I don't miss anything. Tonight I'll be watching on iPlayer with the sub-titles on. That's how I discovered what Pine said to Jed in her tent last week.

It's gripping stuff, but you can't afford to blink!

BTW, any idea what Jed is short for? Confused

H3l3naGraham · 27/03/2016 21:02

Night Manager........ He rocks........Easter Smile

yumyumpoppycat · 27/03/2016 22:23

I think roper called her jemima? I found it quite slow tbh but caught up on the previous ep and watched tonight's and it was good.

Breadandwine · 27/03/2016 23:24

The Night Manager - absolutely superb. Better than any Bond film I've seen.

I'm watching it again, now, on iPlayer and already I've picked up a reference to Halo that I missed the first time through.

Sorry, off-topic.

To get back on it: I read today that Eddie Izzard gave up sugar after a bad (is there any other sort? Grin) case of man-flu.

"I was touring in 2013 and had a bad cold, so I thought I'd use it to kick sugar. After 3 weeks of healthy food I never went back to it. Jamie Oliver is right - tax sugar. It is poison."

I'm 3 weeks into doing 2:5 with sugar - I had a couple of chocs and a hot x bun after dinner, now I'm right back in the zone until next Saturday.

Not2bObvious · 28/03/2016 07:28

Ooh all excited about the night manager, I have it recorded so must sit down and watch it this evening - had a feeling it would be good.
Weekend has gone great, got over my tiredness & had a lovely evening with DF. Easter egg hunt was great, 4 kids running around the house deciphering the clues (TG for the Internet!) The grown ups lunch turned out fab, although I have to admit I only put the lamb in the oven as they arrived, a fact my DB was flummoxed about😁 How'd you like me now chief faffer😉 Lots of wine/chat/laughes, great day. Conked out last night by 9, woke at 6.30 with v sore throat but I have no plans today so I can handle that. Also house still looks good'ish after all the cleaning prep for visitors (except playroom, note to self 4 kids with popcorn & lots of Lego can make quite the mess but f'it)
Food wise I was doing great until
We decided at 8.30 (ate lamb & veg at 4'ish, no dessert for me) that we needed Chinese to round off the day. I don't care though, it was a treat day & I loved it. Scales was down tom11.8.6 yesterday, not weighing again until tomorrow and Wednesday is my official WI for week 1 bsd part 2. I'll be planning to stick to 800 today & tomorrow to balance out the last few days.
Anyone up to anything today?

Aww H3l don't be so cross with yourself! No calories burned in beating yourself up, it's a holiday weekend, put it behind you and get on that car bonnet 😉

Totally loved The Night Manager.

I am meeting up with a group of MN'ers in 2 weeks. I need to lose 3 lbs by then. That's my goal.
