Just wondering if anyone has tried this and how it went? I am about ten days in and coping well so far.

I have been low carbing for years on and off, and on 5:2 since Sept which seems to make the fasting easier.

Checking in from my last few hours on holiday. I've had a great time holiday'wise but it's also been a complete holiday from bsd. I'm looking forward to getting back to normal - first stop once home will be to the supermarket to stock up on my normal bsd essentials. I'm going to need to do hardcore 800 days to undo the havoc I've wreaked on my body, strongly resembling an Oompa Loompa 😁 (possibly orange too from eating BAGS of cheesy corn snaps...the shame!)
Will catch up on thread tomorrow

yumyumpoppycat · 20/03/2016 17:36

Cheby I think a planned break should be fine esp if you can fit in some 800s over that week and don't go bananas. I have had 3 days off as completed 8 weeks, it was meant to be 2 days but extended to 3 so can be tricky to get back on track, but will be 800 today thanks to ds vomiting on me . I have gained over 2lbs since wed weigh in but I always turn into a frenzied carb muncher at this totm so quite good timing in a way. Ideally I would like to get to the point where I am officially a healthy weight (NHS BMI) over the next fortnight so back to 800.

yumyumpoppycat · 20/03/2016 17:38

Not 2 be Grin cheesy snacks turning you into an oompaloompa!
obs at least you enjoyed the cheesecake and didn't feel like it was a waste of calories unlike the viennese whirls I had Blush

H3l3naGraham · 20/03/2016 18:17

yumyumPoppycat anyone vomiting on me means minimal intake, I do sympathise....... :(

What we all seem to be saying, is where & how often can we cut the slack, what 'naughty foods' , which treats, what off-diet foods we can eat, how often & when....

Am trying hard to get my head around what amounts to a lifestyle change, not a daft diet regime for a month or so, I am probably not the only person who needs to look hard inside their food-soul... Yep, life is hard, let's have fun, but let's also try to balance the books, so to speak....

Cheby · 20/03/2016 20:12

Thanks all. We are planning to do 5:2 and stay reasonably low carb throughout our week off, just allow ourselves to eat party food and cake on the celebration days I think. Planning two 500kcal fasts in the week; weds and Monday. Then back on 800 a day again from next Tuesday. So hopefully we will be ok.

HanYOLO yes, I have a huge amount to lose; I can't even think about how far there is to go because it's depressing. Suffice to say I am still in the morbidly obese category even after the 10.5kg loss. Still, all in the right direction, eh? Smile

Obs2016 · 20/03/2016 22:07

I've put on 2 lbs. Sad

Not2bObvious · 21/03/2016 07:28

Since when obs? Is it likely really to have gained a true 2 or could it be bloat? I'm not looking forward to weighing in, won't do it until tomorrow as I drank/ate throughout the night on my flight. Feel yuck, awful indigestion & super tired, slept all of 10 mins I reckon, going to be a long day with 2 jet lagged children. They've conked out but I'll only leave them a few hours otherwise it will be hell tonight. After 4-5 days stateside I can see why they have obesity issues, too much food. Carby mountains of it. Well at least I helped them get shot of a good portion of it!!

yumyumpoppycat · 21/03/2016 07:32

Obs I had put on at least that yesterday am and most of it is off again after 1 decent 800 (fairly healthy and low carb) day so fingers crossed, just get back on it!

yumyumpoppycat · 21/03/2016 07:33

Hope you are all over the jetlag soon not2be

H3l3naGraham · 21/03/2016 09:55

Morning all! - HanYolo - feedback ref coconut flour baking experiment..... I am not going to win Great British Bake Off with the courgette & pumpkin seed muffins (added some sun-dried tomato too), but they are very tasty. Were a bit sticky in the making and would probably work as an alternative to wallpaper paste, but once I put them back in my oven (wretched Rangemaster monster which I struggle with) for a 2nd bake, they improved in consistency and were pronounced edible. They are now in the freezer or I might wolf the lot.

Will try the cheesy scones from the book too, might make them cauliflower cheese & have a dabble with the recipe. ( I can never leave a recipe alone, have to customise)

Obs - I agree with Not2be - it's probably a bit of bloat, and with a more rigid regime over the next couple of days & lots of water it will most likely vanish into the ether, or wherever excess weight goes to.

Will only eat twice today as trying to reduce intake until the dreaded/much anticipated curry night tomorrow, tempted to make myself a chick-pea flour flatbread which I saw on a MM BSD forum posting & sneak it in - hopefully the restaurant won't notice a mis-shapen cardboard-looking pitta type thing in the bread basket.....

Despite a glass or 2 of laughing-juice over the weekend I am now just under 13stone for the 1st time in 10 years. Well happy :)

3menalittleladyandme · 21/03/2016 10:12

Morning all..just popped back in to see how everyone is doing. I've had a frustrating last week...know I kept to at least 850-900 every day Mon-Fri but scales didn't move all week Sad. Has anyone else found this week 4? Then had a friends do in London on Friday night, and ate a cookie, lots of prosecco and malaysian food including the most yummy roti! Fry up saturday follwed by lunch and another cookie, and I felt so frustrated with myself!
Have planned all my food for Mon - Thurs already and hoping that by staying a little under 800 I will see another big loss.
Heres to a good week for us all! ;)

Burgerbobismydad · 21/03/2016 11:05

Hey everyone, just checking in. Week 3 ended on Saturday and I lost 3lbs, making it a total of 18lbs. I've totally lost interest in any food though! I guess that's a good thing, if boring!

How's everyone else getting on?

HanYOLO · 21/03/2016 11:29

Weighed in and another 1.5kg down. 5.5kg total in 3 weeks. I really find it hard to lose weight so I am happy with this, particularly as I don't feel deprived at all. Sticking to 16:8 really helps. And keeping active and busy really helps with sticking to that. So all round it is working for me so far.

Still worrying about next weekend and how to handle it with friends. I really don't want 3 days of "normal/celebratory" eating to derail me at this point. I might just go with really small portions, and somehow just manage not to eat the inevitable carbs. Friends have done their own share of crank eating regimes for health reasons so I know they would get it but I feel v self-conscious about it - and tbh just don't want to talk about it!

H3l3naGraham · 21/03/2016 12:21

I am with you HanYOLO - I don't like talking about diet either. You are doing very well losing weight & after 3 weeks probably know roughly how much slack you can cut yourself over Easter; thankfully there's usually plenty of good foods around to fill up your plate with and people won't notice you being careful. Are you able to have one chocolate, or a small pud, or would the taste make you want to binge on sweet stuff/carbs?

I am following you with the 16:8, 5 -6 days a week, have to be more flexible if eating out, no-one I know eats at 6PM in restaurants. Not this side of the pond anyway!

Not2bObvious · 21/03/2016 13:57

3men, I lost .4 of a pound in week 4 (9.8/10 throughout the 4 weeks, 60% lost in first 2 weeks) Don't worry about, you'll see a whoosh if you're on plan but maybe recheck with your mfp too, just in case it's slipping a bit.
I'm destroyed, wails like spoilt child with bad attack of first world problems!! I know, such a baby whining about tiredness, dozed on/off for last few hours. Feel too wombly to drive so I had cheese on toast bastard white toast I don't think I'm going to make it back to the wagon tonight folksSad Tomorrow is my day

Laska5772 · 21/03/2016 19:30

Well was a great weekend away an d wedding!, I manged to stay low carb on all my eating ( passed the potatoes on , didnt eat bread or pudding but I did drink lots of wine ) . BUT was only half a pound up though this morning!! (back to 10.10)..

I am starting my week 8 now .. but have another tghing to go to on Friday evening.. .

But I am so, so bored of eggs and chicken now.. Anyone else? .

i know I can vary my food , but this has worked for me , even though It seems that i have hardly eaten anything else for ever! But then the upside is I can get back into a load more clothes (including most of the ones I unpacked from that suitcase of summer clothes) now .. The only ones I cant are from when I finallly hit 10st last time..

Not2bObvious · 22/03/2016 09:36

Morning all. Not bored yet of chicken, eggs and that yet laska but then I've only done 4 weeks - my time will come no doubt. Well done on your weekend away - reckon that .5 will be gone by tomorrow. I faced the scales and I'm 5.6 pound up, although I reckon that'll drop another couple of pounds once my "baggage" leaves Blush Hope to be back to 11.6.8 in a week or so, v ambitious I know but if I manage 5:2 at true bsd numbers I think I'll get close enough to it. I'm kinda thinking 6 days on, 6 days off - bit like the 9 month on 9 month off idea but without a lovely baby to console myself while looking at my squidgy tum 😁 Got up and did weights/hiit this morning, food all prepped, on it like a car bonnet

H3l3naGraham · 22/03/2016 09:55

Laughing socks off here - never heard the phrase 'on it like a car bonnet' before!!!
: )

I admire your resolve Not2Be am convinced with your positive outlook, you'll shed the ballast very quickly!

I'm not bored with eggs & chicken yet, possibly because I have been eating prawns & salmon a lot - will be growing little fins at the rate I'm going. Well done on the clothing front Laska I chucked most of my big stuff out over the weekend & am eyeing some nice things I bought back in the Dark Ages & have never worn, possibly a good thing I wear simple clothes or I'd look like something from a fancy-dress party. Reluctant to do much clothes shopping yet though as still shrinking, 2lbs down since last Friday, despite a couple of glasses of red wine.

welshbubba · 22/03/2016 11:23

Well after completing 2 weeks and losing a stone I fell off the wagon quite spectacularly and have regained a good chunk BlushBlush.
So restarted yesterday, not feeling very motivated. But after sitting in front of the mirror at the hairdressers for 2 hours yesterday I felt quite ashamed/embarrassed of my big belly and fat face, and managed to complete the day. And this morning I am 4lb down - so hoping some of the weight gain is fluid and will come off quickly. So I am considering this a new start to the 8 weeks.

You are all doing brilliantly, keep it up Smile.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 22/03/2016 11:42

Hi All, I've just bought the book. Probably not the best timing since I've also just had a Tesco delivery but I really need to start losing weight. 5:2 didn't work for me at all so fingers crossed this will. Blush

Not2bObvious · 22/03/2016 13:40

I'm down with the kids H3l - so I can talk cool like 😁 N'ah lost it again! Well done on another 2lbs, what's your goal? If it's a good way away and you need new clothes, many on 5:2 swear by charity shops as cheap go between but here in Ireland that's impossible unless your style of rag bag - very worn/shabby anything is seen. I bought a couple of bits on holidays in a U.S. Size 6, normally I'm a U.S. Size 8. So it's a little challenge for me to achieve over the next 8 weeks. I don't advocate doing that but I believe I'll lose the weight, and I really wanted something nice to aim for. Don't worry welsh you'll be back on track no bother & we're all here to help. Found myself doing 16:8, wasn't hungry for breakfast so I just drank water. Or my body clock still thinks I'm in the states, either way I'm not arguing. 7,000 steps to go to meet my 10,000

Obs2016 · 22/03/2016 19:32

" On it like a car bonnet".
Love it!

Not2bObvious · 22/03/2016 21:06

I'm hiding out in the bedroom, there's no food up here so that's helping protect my 700 cal day, well proud of myself. Got my steps in too so all in all a very successful day on plan. I'm already aching from this mornings weight session, I'll probably be crippled by the morning. Read an article in the huff about how weights for women over 40 (why God why!!! Only kidding, happy to be alive and well) is the best way to a good figure and I have to say I can see the truth in it. 4 weeks of lots of walking and a couple of weight sessions a week, I can see the difference or at least I could til I decided to eat a truckload of cheese snacks while away. Hoping for a little less of me tomorrow! Might treat myself to an American sleepy sleepy night night
Ibuprofen tab as my nightcap, may reduce the aches and give me a good rest, decisions decisions

Elvish · 23/03/2016 07:24

Hope you had a good sleep Not2be.

I've been failing trying to potty train DS so we've been stuck in the house and I've really been craving bread and chocolate. Probably a combination of stress and boredom but I've managed to resist.

Does anyone else find the supermarket a nightmare? So much temptation!

Got lots of plans for the bank holiday weekend including at least 3 meals out and plenty of drinks. Then we're away in the school hols so eating out a lot too. Not sure whether to just have a week off or to try to stick to the plan...

Burgerbobismydad · 23/03/2016 07:55

I've gained 2lbs since Saturday. I have stayed around 800 cals so I can only think it's because I haven't been to the loo since then! Blush Is anyone else struggling in the being able to poo department?

Made the no carb bircher for the first time last night and I'm going to eat it soon. Hope it lives up to the hype! (I used froze the berries in mine instead of raisins)
