5:2 :- 2 years on .. Backsliders and Rescinders: Recommit with me..

Laska42 · 21/07/2014 18:14

Hi there, Im one of the 'old original' 5:2ers who started way back in August 2012 and lost 24lbs..

I maintained for over a year and was active on the Maintainers thread , but sadly since last summer/Autumn, ive backslid.. Now I'm 12lbs up off my lowest weight again Sad

I know what to do , I know it works , but I can hardly say I should be on the 'maintainers' again. So im posting a new thread here , in the hope that I may find some other backsliders willing to recommit along with me before it's too late ..

Come and join me again before its too late.. We can regroup and get back on track.. I'm still managing to squeeze into my sz 10s (mostly) but I cant afford a new wardrobe, I dont want to buy a larger one.. and I certainly do want to get back to what I was (and maybe finish the job properly with another half stone off , so I can rejoin the Maintainers and comfortably say that this WOE is really this time going to stay with me for life..

So anyone with me? .. I have fasted today (first one for ages) .. WE CAN DO IT AGAIN!!

Still feel ill, so will have to fast tomorow instead!

Keep going primal I'm also suffering TOTM... bloody periods!

Laska42 · 30/07/2014 13:52

Not sure I'm going to fast this week. I've pulled my lower back, and was in quite a lot of pain Monday and yesterday, it's starting to get a bit better, but it's still very painful. I thought maybe I should just stick to healthy eating so body has some raw materials to fix my muscles, but I think that's just wishful thinking and in reality I don't want to sit here hungry and in pain....

Chocupid · 30/07/2014 15:07

plecofjustice make sure you keep moving if you can! last thing you need is to seize up!

My meal was lovely thanks pies 6 mini courses...
Sorry to post about food when some of you are fasting, but laska asked...
We had canapés, scallops, gazpacho, lamb, sorbet, and mini choc desserts.
I left the gazpacho and sorbet. But it's the champagne that has done the damage tbh, felt sick in body tone class this morning... will try and do cardio tennis later to help lessen the damage.

Hope your FD's are going well, I'm with you all in spirit. Grin

plecofjustice · 30/07/2014 15:40

Yeah, can't actually sit for more than about 20 minutes without the pain starting up, so I'm up and about quite a bit. Think it's freaking out my colleagues though!

Laska42 · 30/07/2014 20:44

Pleofjustice have you tried [[http://www.boots.com/en/Biofreeze-Pain-relieving-Gel-118ml_21629/ Biofreeze] is efin marvelous.. My chirpractor recommended it to me when I had back spasms and now DH uses it on pulld muscles .. its a bit ££s but totally amazing goes really cold ( then later on warm) ..

Have had a good NFD , still Lowcarbing as well as 5:2 but feeling full of energy

Oh Chocupid, that sounds lovely - worth the suffering afterwards!

I have nearly completed my fast day - so as long as I am moderate on my eating day tomorrow - hopefully I'll see some loss this week. If I lose another four pounds I'll be at my comfortable weight, though I still want to lose another 7 after that if I can.

Chocupid · 31/07/2014 12:49

Not sure it was dontcall Unfortunately I suffer soo bad with hangovers Sad

Feel well again at last So I'm Fasting today, but soo hungry (why is hunger the week before period so bad? ) gonna have a cuppa soup to keep me going then I will have a calorie counted ready meal for dinner so I don't go over my cals, gotta be strict today to catch up as I failed Monday.

Anyone got the feeling of control back yet??

mollysfolly · 31/07/2014 13:05

Hi ClaireFraser - the kettlebell workouts we do in class are the official Kettlercise. Their DVDs are quite expensive to buy so I have bought Paul Katami's DVD to do at home during the holidays (4kg bell at the moment) and I really enjoy it. Though different from the Kettlercise, it seems to exercise different muscles which I guess is good.

I always do it on a fast day and I never suffer any ill effects.

It was my birthday on Tuesday so massive overindulgence and now paying for it! (but worth it!)

dontcallmehon22 · 31/07/2014 14:09

My mum showed me a newspaper clipping for 8 calories rice/pasta sachets which look ok for fast days.

I was 9 stone 10 after a fast day this morning, I know I shouldn't weigh every day - but I find it helps me to keep track, even though I know the numbers vary. Slowly slowly getting back on form. Can't wait to start feeling comfortable in my clothes again. Think another 4 pounds or so will help.

Laska42 · 31/07/2014 19:11

FD today! Am a bit hungry today (I think I've inadvertedly cut down on NFDs this week becauseof the warmweather ) , but am chugging the water.

I bought some of those zero calorie noodles dontcallmehon .If they are the ones in water , they are expensive and really quite strange.. When you open the pack, they smell a bit 'fishy' so you need to rinse them.. They are Ok but Ididnt get any more because in fact id rather just have a pack of beansprouts or extra veg in my s/f instead.. I haven't tried the rice - Cauliflower 'rice' is cheaper and i think more satisfying.. (and you can use it as 'pasta')

Talking of cauliflower... I make roasted cauliflower 'chips' with cumin and lemon.. The recipe (posted over a year ago) is on the 5:2 recipe thread.. Its really good for FDs (and NFDs!) .. I'd also seriously recommend my Aubergine , spinach and chickpea curry (also on the recipe thread.). It's had loads of good reviews from 5:2 ers!

Please can I re-join with you guys? About 17 months on 5:2, max loss was 19 pound, but up/down. Probably consistly down 12-14 pounds but at this point I'm scales dodging as petrified I've piled most of it back on. I don't have the fresh faced enthusiasm for the big thread despite being on it for around 10 months, I've just bowed out of the last 2-3Sad I just want to start back quietly, bit embarrassed to be sliding back towards my old weight. I'm on hols at the min but did a 3 mile jog and am on a 16:8 - obviously it's quite relaxed, can't be mfp'ing and proper fasting but hoping to get a head start on better behaviour before I go home in 3 days.
Flowers Laska, when I saw your thread I felt hope again

Chocupid · 02/08/2014 09:27

Welcome not2b I'm the same, to stop the damage before it's too great a task to tackle...
But at least we've decided to start again and we're all in the same boat here which is good for support.

hope your having a lovely holiday. We're here when your back and ready to jump in.

Tiredemma · 03/08/2014 17:34

Laska42 · 03/08/2014 19:04

Welcome not2b and tiredemma great to have you here.. yes the 'fresh faces are great to see , but somehow when you have lapsed , it doesnt feel quite right ... but its Ok we all inthe same boat and understand here..

Well the weekend didnt go as planned eating wise and I have been 'fasting' again today , but not deliberately as have been struck down with a foul tummy bug for some reason ....Sad ...

Chocupid · 03/08/2014 20:39

Sorry to hear about your Tum Laska, Hope you all had a good feeding weekend, really impressed if you can fast on a weekend.

I really need to get back in to it this week, so will be going for it tommorow and Thursday.

PiesnThighs · 04/08/2014 18:07

Hope you're feeling better soon, Laksa Sad

I've been away for the weekend and have eaten complete rubbish... Couldn't face weighing myself today and have an evening of drinking prosecco (for research purposes, honest!) ahead of me tonight, so will fast on Tuesday and Thursday...

Hope those of you fasting today are doing well - Monday is my favourite fasting day!

Chocupid · 04/08/2014 18:53

Didn't fast today, was too tired after a bad nights sleep.

So will be fasting with you pies Tuesday and Thursday this week! Grin

ClaireFraser · 05/08/2014 00:37

Thanks mollys I will have a look for that. Fished out my kettle bell and it's a 7kg one and have found a whole load of tutorials from a women's weights class that I used to follow.

Have been suffering the most horrendous backache and migraine this last week and so have been crap with except use and fasting. I am seeing my chiro tomorrow so hopefully will get it all sorted and then back on track.

Have had some half hearted fast days where I've not eaten until 6pm ish, unfortunately instead of having early supper and them stopping, I have been snacking and having late supper. Does not work! I really need to go back into earlier meal and then no snacking.

laska I can't seem to find the recipes threD, would you be able to link it please? I love the sound of your veg curry!

Not2bObvious · 05/08/2014 09:25

Disaster. Stood on scales and I'm back to 12.3.8, my starting weight may 2014 was 12.5.2
Devastated is an understatement. FD today, hope everyone else is doing well, sorry to post and run and not even read but needed to get my starting point established. It's going to be a hard road back I fearSad

Laska42 · 05/08/2014 09:31

hi all hope you are well, I am now feeling somewhat better (that was a stomach bug and a half, but strangely really because ( wont go into details here) it should be impossible , i seem to have put weight back ON Sad). Am back up to 10.11 and a half this morning .. Well my system is mucked up obviously and so im not going to stress about it oh yes I am! WAH!! Its Not fair! drums heels

heres the recipe thread. theres lots of good stuff there from lots of people (but if i am allowed to self-promote again do try my roasted carrot, tomato, and pepper soup.. its so yummy ) but here's the recipe for the curry

Aubergine Chickpea and Spinach curry

serves 4 huge portions at about 200 cals each

1 x 400g tin chickpeas
2 medium aubergines, cut into cubes
2 onions chopped
A couple of sprays of olive oil
2.5cm knob of fresh root ginger, grated
4 cloves of garlic,
1 hot chilli pepper, seeded and chopped (more or less depending on how hot you like it)
2 tsp ground coriander
2 tsp ground cumin
½ tsp Turmeric
3 cardamom split
1 x 400g tin chopped tomatoes
225g spinach, chopped roughly
Bunch of fresh coriander chopped
Vegetable stock cube made up to about 400ml

Stir fry the onion in a couple of sprays of oil to brown, adding a little stock if it seems to burn
Add the aubergine cubes and just enough stock to keep them moist,. Add the ginger, garlic chilli, coriander and cumin and stir fry a little taking care not to burn the spices. Add the tomatoes and their juice, the turmeric the cardamom the rinsed chickpeas and the rest of the stock or water Bring to a fast simmer the turn down heat and cook for 25 minutes, or until the aubergine feels soft but is still in cubes. Add the spinach and cook for a further minute or two till the spinach is wilted . Add the chopped coriander ,

Season with salt and pepper, and serve. This is even better made the day before you want to eat it . and good with a dollop of 0% fat yoghurt and some more fresh chopped coriander
