Hi there, Im one of the 'old original' 5:2ers who started way back in August 2012 and lost 24lbs..

I maintained for over a year and was active on the Maintainers thread , but sadly since last summer/Autumn, ive backslid.. Now I'm 12lbs up off my lowest weight again Sad

I know what to do , I know it works , but I can hardly say I should be on the 'maintainers' again. So im posting a new thread here , in the hope that I may find some other backsliders willing to recommit along with me before it's too late ..

Come and join me again before its too late.. We can regroup and get back on track.. I'm still managing to squeeze into my sz 10s (mostly) but I cant afford a new wardrobe, I dont want to buy a larger one.. and I certainly do want to get back to what I was (and maybe finish the job properly with another half stone off , so I can rejoin the Maintainers and comfortably say that this WOE is really this time going to stay with me for life..

So anyone with me? .. I have fasted today (first one for ages) .. WE CAN DO IT AGAIN!!

Thank you! I thought I'd killed the thread there for a minute GrinI've googled and got a much clearer idea now.

Dotty342kids · 26/01/2015 08:16

Morning all Smile

Amanda how'd your weekend go? Hope the apples were yummy!
FD for me today. Doing today and Weds this week though tempted to throw in a mini fast on Thurs too as otherwise it feels like a long gap from Weds to Monday next week. We'll see.........

Who else is on a FD today?

TheHoneyBadger · 26/01/2015 08:35

hi all. weirdly i had a massage the other day and the old friend who did it reckons i do not have fat but water on me. don't know if this is true but it does make sense of how eating less cals doesn't seem to make a huge difference and the way i can lose or gain huge amounts of weight in short periods of time.

mind you i know i did have fat on me - this loser stuff that's left may well be a lot of water too but the firmer stuff i've recently lost wasn't.

hope everyone is doing well - good luck today dotty Smile

CoolCadbury · 27/01/2015 12:53

Hey all. Smile

I hope that your fast went well yesterday Dotty. honey, I would love a massage right now. Have a pounding headache, probably stress related. I had to pop into work for something and I got bombarded with people's stress and woes. There's a lot of changes the new Head is bringing in at a really fast pace and we are all not coping. I'm not even a permanent member of staff!

Anyway, sort of fast day today as my mum has invited us round for dinner tonight, and it will be the last time I will see my parents before they go gallivanting off into the sunset for about 6 weeks. Am just drinking water and tea until then. Maybe an apple around 4 pm. I've now at 8st 5lb. Grin

Dotty342kids · 27/01/2015 13:11

wow Cool that's a really low weight. Are you planning on losing any more or are you skipping off to the maintainers thread now? Smile

CoolCadbury · 27/01/2015 14:43

I'm only little Dotty, under 5ft so I still need to lose another 7 lbs!

TheHoneyBadger · 30/01/2015 14:02

hi - i am home Smile

haven't weighed yet as i'm constipated from travel (always happens, who knows why) and my period is overdue but a no show so don't want to have false disappointment itms.

i feel slimmer but that doesn't mean the scales will care Grin

hope everyone is doing ok. we've come back to snow which as novelty factor goes is actually quite nice - feels like a nasal cleanse breathing cold fresh air after dusty desert air so i'm quite enjoying it. appreciate it's not so fun when you've been living with it seemingly endlessly.

TheHoneyBadger · 31/01/2015 10:40

i'm down by 4 lbs or so and into the right stone bracket and i can feel the change in my body as in the fat that is left is loose and i can see the change in the shape of my back. bit less than i'd hoped for but think i've lost fat and gained muscle so that will account for that i guess.

i would like to lose another 13-14lb ideally, hoping that a 1 or 2 of those go with the period and my bowels settling down Blush

hope everyone has a nice weekend and will check in on monday to see if there is anyone to fast with.

CoolCadbury · 31/01/2015 17:49

welcome back honeybadger and congrats on the weightloss. You did a lot of swimming while abroad didn't you so it would have made your body leaner. Did you take measurements before you went so that you could compare inch loss?

I am not coping at work and have been eating to compensate. I did do a fast but today is another story. Sad

Dotty342kids · 02/02/2015 06:35

WElcome home honeybadger and it's great that after hols you're 4lbs down Smile

I'm fasting today. Coolcadbury, what's been going on with you then? When is your next planned FD?

TheHoneyBadger · 02/02/2015 07:04

tell us about work coolc - i really don't think food and life are separate - pretty sure learning to manage food/maintain weight is all about coping with life/stress/disatisfaction etc so it's def not off topic. hope this week goes easier at work x

am now across the country staying at 'friend's' house. must try and avoid just piling weight back on - boys eat a lot anyway and he does an outdoors job and is a bit of a foodie.

how are you doing dotty?

Dotty342kids · 02/02/2015 14:05

I'm good thanks Smile. Been to zumba / weights and now busy with work. Planning on having dinner around 6.30pm then evening will be busy shuttling kids to / from various clubs so that'll keep me occupied.
Hope you manage to avoid too many calorific treats whilst at your friends house!

CoolCadbury · 02/02/2015 16:51

Hi dotty and honeybadger. Well, I sorted my work out - I quit. Grin Grin Grin

Something happened today that tipped me over the edge. I am a supply teacher working at a school that I used to love until this January when a new leadership team came in (I have working there as a supply for years and years). They don't care about staff or the children really, they care about data. They have been horrible to the staff but today was the last straw. So I am lucky in that I can pretty much walk away being a supply (I am doing this week and next).

Wow dotty that sounds like busy day. What you going to have? Tomorrow is my FD. I am looking forward to it.

Dotty342kids · 02/02/2015 17:14

No way Cadbury? wow!
But there's no point staying somewhere that is making you miserable so good for you on making that call and walking away Smile

Veggie chilli for me tonight. It's a FD staple as I tend to make a big batch and then freeze portions so normally have it once a week. A nice big bowl, with some brown rice comes in at more or less 500 cals dead on.
NFD for me tomorrow and the flapjacks I made yesterday will definitely be featuring Grin

TheHoneyBadger · 03/02/2015 11:18

well done coolC - ex teacher here and i know how toxic things can turn and how quickly. best out before it makes you ill.

no fasting days proper since back and i've been craving quite a bit of nutrition as food wasn't great away so i've been wanting veg and good protein and craving nuts and the like. also the temperature shock is probably inclining my body towards wanting fuel. for now will settle for black coffee and water only till mid after each day at least and staying away from sugar and junk till i adjust a bit.

CoolCadbury · 04/02/2015 21:57

Thanks dotty and thehoneybadger - I'm hugely relieved although I feel terribly guilty for my support staff. Maybe I will get some of my life back. TBH, I know I will get most of my life back. Smile

The fast went well yesterday. Although I woke up a bit shakey and dizzy but that might be possibly down to TOM issues.

Yum at flapjack dotty. I treated myself to a small slice of chocolate cake today. Don't usually eat sweet things during the week but felt I needed it today. Honey I know what you mean about your body craving healthy food. I get the same way when I have been eating crap for a few days.

TheHoneyBadger · 05/02/2015 07:36

be a good time to add in some exercise and healthy or self caring routines if you fancy it coolC (as in when you stop working for them). presumably with supply you can pick up other work as and when you need it?

daytime yoga classes or going swimming or whatever - basically whatever works as both exercise and de-stressing and happy-making for you would be nice Smile i may be projecting due to my home ed'ing ds meaning i don't get any of that sort of time anymore.

i weighed myself today and weight appears to be holding steady even though my period is now 8 days overdue Confused so that's good news. i'm ok with a pause for now so long as it isn't going back on.

CoolCadbury · 05/02/2015 22:01

Yes, that sounds like a great idea, Honey. It will probably be yoga or pilates as I did my back in a while back and it still needs strengthening. The slightest thing sets it off again eg making the bed the other day and I was in agony for days. Sad

On a happier note, I have lost another 1lb this week so am feeling pretty happy. It's a steady 1lb a week for me.

TheHoneyBadger · 06/02/2015 07:07

slow and steady wins the race and all that.

sorry about your back - are you getting any physio or anything? might be a good idea to get some help rather than jump into stuff, though yes, building core strength is supposedly always a winner with back stuff so pilates could be a good plan.

i ate two big stodgy meals yesterday. i'm blaming being freezing and now 9 days late for period.

CoolCadbury · 10/02/2015 09:28

I've actually got physio today, honey. Anyway, another FD for me today. Am finding it difficult - slept really badly last night so very tired and it's only 9.30 in the morning.

Hope your period arrived and you are warm.Smile

TheHoneyBadger · 10/02/2015 10:22

hi - it did come on friday night at last thanks Smile still freezing though. hope physio and fasting goes well despite the tiredness.

my weight did a leap up during period but now it's gone has gone back down thankfully to just below what it was before the leap - phew!

i've been staying with a friend and am due to head home tomorrow where i have tons to do to sort the house out so hopefully that will all be calorie burning which combined with fasting might see me shifting downwards again.

i'm now 10st 12 (i'm 5'7) so next goal is 10st 7 and ideally want to get under 10st.

CoolCadbury · 25/02/2015 12:29

So I didn't fast last week as it was half term and I can't fast with ds around as I am less tolerant of things when I fast. Blush needless to say my weight has crept back up.

Fasted yesterday though. And will so a mini fast tomorrow as brother has invited me out for dinner.

alteredimage · 09/03/2015 12:03

May I join?
I've done reasonably well over the past couple of years, first 5:2 then low carb, often with a natural 16:8 pattern. Overall I lost close to three stone. The last couple of months have been a bit of a plateau, fine as I normally pile the weight on over winter and lose it in the summer.

I am booked in for a hysterectomy next week so will be pretty housebound after. At 12st I am pretty much at the top end of the recommended weight range and have been told I will do better if I can lose more. Ideally I would lose another 2 stone.

So help needed! I don't know whether fasting is recommended in the early days but was planning to major on veg and gradually introduce exercise and fasting. Drinking lots of water should help ensure I move a bit.

So far I have only lurked on diet threads. I am really grateful to all you inspiring people.

LemonYellowSun · 01/04/2015 11:13

I would like to join too. I started 5:2 about 18 months ago and did well, but stopped Blush

Need to lose weight and improve health too.

So if its a fast day, what are you eating today
(Im starting next week as DH is ill at the moment, and he wants to join me!)
