Laska42 · 21/07/2014 18:14

Hi there, Im one of the 'old original' 5:2ers who started way back in August 2012 and lost 24lbs..

I maintained for over a year and was active on the Maintainers thread , but sadly since last summer/Autumn, ive backslid.. Now I'm 12lbs up off my lowest weight again Sad

I know what to do , I know it works , but I can hardly say I should be on the 'maintainers' again. So im posting a new thread here , in the hope that I may find some other backsliders willing to recommit along with me before it's too late ..

Come and join me again before its too late.. We can regroup and get back on track.. I'm still managing to squeeze into my sz 10s (mostly) but I cant afford a new wardrobe, I dont want to buy a larger one.. and I certainly do want to get back to what I was (and maybe finish the job properly with another half stone off , so I can rejoin the Maintainers and comfortably say that this WOE is really this time going to stay with me for life..

So anyone with me? .. I have fasted today (first one for ages) .. WE CAN DO IT AGAIN!!

Getting through it with the aid of flavoured fizzy water. Just realised, I'm going to have to go again tomorrow to fit two in this week :(

Dotty342kids · 11/08/2014 15:21

Oh, so pleased to have found this thread Grin. Thanks Laska
Some of you may remember that I was around for most of last year, from Feb to Oct'ish. Things started to "slide" from around Sept onwards when I was struggling not to overeat on NFDs.
Since Christmas it's got worse!
My loss was never huge anyway. Started at 11st 8lbs. At lowest (prob last July) was 10st 4lbs. Am now back at 11st 2lbs! Aaargh.

So, I know for me, that it's NFDs and evenings where I crumble. I can fast well all day, have a FD dinner and then demolish half the kitchen in the following 2hrs. Which makes the whole thing pointless.
I also need to use MFP I think, to keep track of my NFDs to be honest with myself about just how many cals are being consumed on those too.

But I want to get back down to at most 10st 6ish so I'm here, I'm here, I'm here [waves]

Not2bObvious · 11/08/2014 15:51

Welcome Dotty!!! Nice to have you back, I'm closer to 12st2lb than 11st2lb, desparate to be back under 12. I was somewhat similar, great all day and the losing the plot later on. Last 2 fd's I just closed up the kitchen, had a hot drink and went to bed! Nothing else to be done. If I can keep that up for the next few weeks, I might even be able to sit down in my trousers without the risk of taking someone's eye out with a rogue flying button! Isn't it soo sad how it creeps back upSad

Chocupid · 11/08/2014 17:48

Almost there everyone!
Hello Dotty glad your back...

I think NFDs are the next thing for me to tackle once I get the FDs sorted.
Going well today so far, and a busy evening ahead, so should be ok!

The one thing that's kept me going today is the thought of putting my gym gear on for Wednesdays class...
It's getting tight and I feel huge in it... it's ' Lycra for gods sake' Sad

Hang on in there it's weigh In day tomorow (or did we decide on Fridays after 2 FDs?)

Not2bObvious · 11/08/2014 18:14

WI Fridays after 2 fd's is my plan Chocupid, I'm scared the weekend bloat will still show on a TuesdayBlush
Ended up slipping a bit, had a quarter of a sambo earlier so that's probably 100 cals I hadn't counted on, going to tot up my total now...560'ish, that'll do pig as they say in Babe (strangely appropriate as am quite the little piggy, had chicken/chips from chip shop last night, shameful)

Laska42 · 11/08/2014 18:24

Argh! failed failed.. DGS (19months) over for weekend and after delivering him back yesterday on a supposed FD (a 6 hour motorway journey with 2 ferry crossings ) I returned feeling so hungry last night i fell into our Sainsburys local, came out with pepperoni pizza and then snaffled the lot in about 10 minutes! .. (That wasnt a fast day then ). Also all weekend because ive been running around after our little live wire I have just eaten quick carbs.. (I so so love bread and stuff but it always puts weight on me quick sharp it seems)

Then today have had a shit day at work.. seems like I have upset my collegue - dont know how ( well actually i think I do, he said something which was really sexist to a collegue and I made a quick retort/ joke about some blokes and their terrible attitudes which didnt go down well I think and so I got the silent treatment all day ..so comforted myself with carbs lunchtime and have just come home and had glass of Wine..

I do hate it when this kind of thing happens .. the trouble is i just think its got to be me -sometimes i just dont know when to butt out of other peoples conversations it seems . . My remark was probably justified .he was definately out of order .... but its so horrible when you realise you've done it again .. (Butted in that is ).

A sneaky peak on scales showed this morning that i was back to 10.12.. so that doesnt bode well for tomorrows WI.. Sad.

One good thing though, after starting off 5333rd (!!) in the online queue this morning i did manage to grab a couple of tickets to see Benedict Cumberbatch in Hamlet next year!

OP posts:
Breadandwine · 11/08/2014 18:49

Oh, Laska,, put that knobhead out of your mind - he's not worth a second of your time. He has to realise that if he makes sexist comments in your hearing, he's going to cop it! And your responses will empower your colleagues.

More power to your elbow!

Glad you had a great time with Marcus!

Woohoo to BC in Hamlet! Grin

Laska42 · 11/08/2014 20:33

B&W! thank you ! I wish i worked with more blokes like you! Yup he is a t0$$er.... I was a teen in the 70s and FeministMax.. (so i really hate to see the younger women now pandering to outdated Male Chauvanist cr@p just because they (MCs) still think they can get away with it..

Sadly now being seen as an 'older woman' I find my Feminist views are more and more being treated as 'irrelevant' to 'The Real World as it is now' Sigh ...Hmm (But it dont seem so different for the young ones as to when I was a lovely young thing fighting off 'wandering hands' at work in the 70's especially from male bosses old enough to be my Dad.. )

OP posts:
PiesnThighs · 11/08/2014 22:34

Hello all :), well I've been away all weekend and didn't quite manage a FD today, although I'd guess I had about 1000 cals... Will weight in tomorrow anyway, and FD again on Wed...

Laska that sounds like a stressful situation at work, what a child your male colleague sounds, giving you the silent treatment Sad

Laska42 · 12/08/2014 06:42

Ok was 10.11 this morning.. so a lb up on last week, but thats ok.. Ihave someone coming for dinner today though she is on a diet soit wont be mega carbs .. Ialso have a friend over on thursday.. looks like tomorrow will have to be FD.. (but ill try and eat very lightly today to make upfor weekend excess i.e no carbs ..)

Laska I was born in the 70's and my inner feminist is alive and raging still Smile. Good on you I say! Today will be a better day I'm sure, both on the work, and the food front.

Thanks for the welcomes by the way. It's good to be back with a supportive group of online 5:2ers. Yesteday's fast day went well until I found the mini flapjacks at about 9pm last night. Still, it could have been much, much worse!

Are we all weighing on Fridays then? That suits me as usually fast on a Mon/Thurs

Chocupid · 12/08/2014 09:48

Ignore said tosser laska I'm with you and Dotty (I'm 45) and think the world has gone mad!!

I had a late one last night and didn't get in till 1am, would have been a successful FD if I hadn't drank 2 glasses of red wine to keep me awake... I don't even like wine! Confused
Oh well 700 cals... suppose it can be a mini fast.

Glad we are weighing on a Friday now or I would still weigh the same as last week. If nothing changes I will fast again wed or Thursday.

Have a good day all.

plecofjustice · 12/08/2014 16:18

well, went up to 800 cal yesterday, but I'm still counting it - less than 50% of BMR. Today's much better, on course for a proper fast..

Dotty342kids · 12/08/2014 16:43

Hope it goes ok plecofjustice I went out for lunch today with friends and have that mid afternoon slump going on now. Have to try to find the energy for a dance / toning class in an hours time. Hmmmm.

Not2bObvious · 12/08/2014 17:34

I ended up yesterday at 670 as I had a glass of juice before bed, I was really quesy with hunger and it just sorted me out (helps things move too, sorry for tmiBlush)
Nfd today, still have about 1000 cals left! Too blooming busy to eat all day, hmm, looking forward to dinner I must say.
I'm trying to stay off the scales til Friday, here's hoping for a decent result

plecofjustice · 13/08/2014 10:31

Got through it for this week and feeling great!! Going to have a more sensible approach next week though, I hate having to run fasts together

Laska42 · 13/08/2014 20:16

Poo! this week is NOT for fasting it seems.. friend over last night for dinner, bumped into someone else i hadnt seen in ages today and we had lunch.. and old friend ive only seen twice inthe last 30 years ( yup ex schoolmate) coming over tomorrow night and we going out to dinner...then its the weekend..

Ah well life sometimes needs to be lived and opportunities grabbed .. .. ill try and cut out breakfasts and lunches for the next few days..

hope everyone else is doing well...

Morning all. Thursday fast day today! Have got my period headache and didn't sleep well so getting through the day might be a bit of a struggle.
Just going into town now to buy some salmon for our tea Smile

Chocupid · 14/08/2014 09:45

Hi all

I'm fasting with you Dotty , praying for success today as I haven't managed a 2nd fast since I fell off the wagon last October, for some reason I've struggled with the 2nd day so far, maybe tommorows weigh in will keep me focused!

aiming to not see, hear or even think about food, so no idea what's for dinner may even be a protein shake... channeling Bigchoc Grin

I hurt my back last week so haven't exercised either for 10 days, hope to go tommorow. ( let's hope a little skinnier)

Envy plecofjustice for getting them both done back to back! (Well done) Even though I did it sometimes last year when I was really focused, sounds hard core to me now.

Good luck all.

Dotty342kids · 14/08/2014 11:52

Yay Chocupid, just keep on track and think of the scales tomorrow morning Grin

Chocupid · 14/08/2014 11:58

Thanks Dotty how you doing?

Have decided I need something to look forward to today so am saving all cals for steak and veg at dinner. Grin

Laska42 · 14/08/2014 12:14

Greeat Idea chocupid.. well im looking forward to my dinner out this evening.. but have just accepted thatthis week is a 'holiday' , I will start again in earnest on Sunday ( have no vistors or events booked in for atleast 3 weeks!! ..) Hope everyone is doing well..

Dotty342kids · 14/08/2014 12:37

ooh that sounds like a good filling dinner Chocupid. I'm doing ok, started off the day with a banging headache (period induced) but after necking some painkillers and going to a dancefit class I'm feeling human again now. Hungry mind you Grin

Not2bObvious · 14/08/2014 19:37

Snap Dotty on the Totm headache, and the chocolate cravings, I went a big to town yesterday but have managed to get through today's FD without falling. Saying that I might push my 500 to 600 to allow for a hot choc before bed, need some comfortWink
All set & a bit excited for tomorrow's WI, have to confess a few sneaky jumps on over the last day or so, didn't want any nasty surprises on Friday. I think it's going to be pretty ok though. Honestly it's amazing how quick 5:2 works if you follow it properly, I can now understand those people who managed to drop 2 stone in 3 months, they weren't eating their way through the chocolate aisle in aldi, followed by a few bottles of wine & bowls of crisps/nuts! Eyes on the prize now for the next few weeks. Can't wait to fit back into my clothes lol!

Not2bObvious · 15/08/2014 07:48

WI complete, started on the 8th August and 4 fasts later I'm down to 11.11.8, so 6 pound down. I know it's likely to slow down from here but the main thing is I've gotten back under 12 stone, now not to cock it all up over the weekend!
Anyone weighing in, excuse the pun Wink
