5:2 :- 2 years on .. Backsliders and Rescinders: Recommit with me..

Laska42 · 21/07/2014 18:14

Hi there, Im one of the 'old original' 5:2ers who started way back in August 2012 and lost 24lbs..

I maintained for over a year and was active on the Maintainers thread , but sadly since last summer/Autumn, ive backslid.. Now I'm 12lbs up off my lowest weight again Sad

I know what to do , I know it works , but I can hardly say I should be on the 'maintainers' again. So im posting a new thread here , in the hope that I may find some other backsliders willing to recommit along with me before it's too late ..

Come and join me again before its too late.. We can regroup and get back on track.. I'm still managing to squeeze into my sz 10s (mostly) but I cant afford a new wardrobe, I dont want to buy a larger one.. and I certainly do want to get back to what I was (and maybe finish the job properly with another half stone off , so I can rejoin the Maintainers and comfortably say that this WOE is really this time going to stay with me for life..

So anyone with me? .. I have fasted today (first one for ages) .. WE CAN DO IT AGAIN!!

Hope you all had a good weekend...

I've eaten too much again! So will be fasting tomorrow... I've still not managed to do the 2nd fast of the week, which is what I've been struggling with. And yet I can do metafit and kettle classes back to back and a strict fast on a Monday no problem, why can't i do Thursday?
I seem ok till around 4 or 5 then it goes pear shaped for some reason.

So good luck all fasters for Monday

mollysfolly · 28/07/2014 09:56

I've been a lurker too of late - I've even lurked on this thread! But I remember you Laska and always liked reading your posts. Didn't you lose most on 4:3? I confess I've never been able to do that, and I find summer far worse than winter for the oft-repeated reason, too much white wine! Like chocupid I also find the Monday fasts a doddle compared with Thursday. For me it's because I'm busy all day on Monday (I now do kettlebells too - brilliant!).

Compared with 2 years ago my DH is much more supportive could be because his friend has lost 2 stone on 5:2 . He doesn't need to lose weight at the moment but he knows now that Monday and Thursday are fast days for me. He gets to eat what he likes and I don't, so it's a win/win.

I will join you in getting back on board if I may. I have put 6lbs back on since my lowest 5:2 weight, and I never got to my target, 7lbs below that. But I still weigh half a stone less than August 2012, and I know it can be done. Smile

Has anyone experienced, like me, an irrational fear of the scales?

Laska42 · 28/07/2014 18:37

spoke too soon... scales were NOT looking good this morning? In fact were the same as last week - 10.12 !! so frustrating as I fasted yesterday and all (perils of weighing every day ) . Have fasted again today .. fingers crossed for the morning ( I want to be 10 stone again now !!) Wah!

Hey everyone. Had to search for this thread. Got fairly disillusioned this Monday weigh-in, been doing so well last week fasting (Mon, Wed and Friday) but got a 2lb gain after 10 days of being exactly the same! How is that even POSSIBLE???

At my wits end here, please someone, anyone ......Help??

headintheclouds · 29/07/2014 00:06

hi Laska / everyone,
Yes another one here who's kind of fallen off the wagon....didn't stop fasting completely but I was doing it a bit half- heartedly, not really calorie counting on NFDs .
I lost 24 lbs albeit very slowly last year, and I've put back 6 lbs... So I don't really fit into the maintainer thread anymore and I ve sort of 'lost' about 10 chapters of the original thread,so I don't feel as if I belong there either( sounds a bit daft as I'm reading this back because everyone's been so supportive on all the threads..you can 'fit ' in anywhere.)
like you Laska the warm Sunny evenings are my downfall..I keep pouring just one or three rose or white into my glass !

Laska42 · 29/07/2014 07:17

have to go to work.. but just popping into say was 10.11 this morning so 2lbs down.. so thats good
( it was 3 down on sunday was hopin to post that as a definate .. oh well , going in the right direction again)

Back later ..

HI Mollysfolly (I remember you ) and Hi also head inthe clouds and piesnthighs (you'll have to change that name !)

Welcome also to anyone else ive missed ..

Yes i started this thread because i'd missed about 30 threads by being on the Maintainers board, (they are great over there but i finally had to admit that my 'maintaining' had stopped) - but and somehow I didnt feel quite at home on the main thread as a backsliding oldie .. So here I am , and its good to have the company of others who've been there and now want to go there again.. We will get back on track

Hudsconcolly Gutting isnt it? I have weeks like that also (and did the first time round) thought i was going to again yesterday as my 3lbs loss mysteriously dissapeared for a day .(and only 2/3rd came back!!) ...

I found before though that with 5:2 I could just stick it out whereas with other diets i gave up .. so do try and stay with us .. I recommend uppingthe intake of water.. somehow it seems to help .. exercise is good also ( but I have serious a lazy cow tenedencies though, and hate any type of formal exercise .. ) aAso remember that weight fluctates all the time .. hormones , water , (state of poo!) ..stupid scales buggering aboout

Please stick with us!

Right I must go or ill be late .. (not even dressed yet!)

Quickly place marking while I get baby to sleep but will be back

Chocupid · 29/07/2014 08:51

Morning all, Well done Laska 2lb is fab! Great for your motivation.

Congrats to all who had a successful FD yesterday!
I spoke to soon molly about Mondays fasts being easy, I didn't even bother yesterday was ravenously hungry the moment I woke up and just didn't feel up to it.

Bloody Fed up...
I Weigh 10.4 today... But it is TOTM and I feel so bloated, Hope the 5lb gain is water!!

hudson don't be disheartened at least it's not a gain! stay good and you will probably see a loss next week. Well done for not going off the rails, I'm tempted!

I can't fast today to make up for NFD yesterday as it's my birthday so out for dinner later, will try not to eat till then though.

So I will have to try wed and Friday this week to pull things back.

I wonder if that will be easier for me as they along with Mondays are my workout days...
Anyone else think FD's are easier when you workout?

ClaireFraser · 29/07/2014 08:54

Oh, rookie error Sad I weighed myself the morning after a fast last time I posted, forgetting that it's not a true reflection.

I have weighed myself this morning and net weight loss is 0.5LB, which is better than nothing.

I just can't shift myself off this sugar bingeing lately. It's not like me at all as I'm normally a savoury person. Does anyone have any tips on breaking the cycle? Would going cold turkey work? Ban all processed sugar?

I can't give up fruit though, there is too much amazing soft fruit at the moment. I don't buy it for most of the year because it doesn't taste too great, so I do very much enjoy it when it's in season.

molly can you recommend any good kettle bell workouts?

PrimalLass · 29/07/2014 09:08

My scales weren't great, but not awful. 11.4. TOTM due today or tomorrow, so I'm not too sad about it.

NFD. I'll hopefully hast Wed and Fri as I am really busy on those days.

I have posted on the S&B thread about not buying clothes in Aug (except for one outfit). I am taking a jacket back today, but if I get to 10st, or even 10.4 by Christmas I will buy it back Smile

Claire I always weight after a fast day.

PiesnThighs · 29/07/2014 11:41

Morning all, I was 10:13 at the start of my fast day yesterday, 10:10 today so that's me off to a flying start! I know it will go up again, but that has given me encouragement to fast again tomorrow :)...

Aiming for 10:02.... And then I might try to get down to 9:10.

Ps the user name refers to my main reasons for going to football matchesGrin

PiesnThighs · 29/07/2014 11:42

And happy birthday Choc Smile

Chocupid · 29/07/2014 11:53

Hi, I was on the original thread ages and ages ago. Got down to 9 stone 1, then had a relationship break down and in my heartbreak I turned to food. I've put 10lb on. Trying to get back into it. Might need support!

Laska42 · 29/07/2014 19:51

Oh fat fingers ! ( and typing too fast, im always doing that you may have noticed ).

I weigh after fasting days also

Prosecco good you see you on the no spend August thread!

Laska42 · 29/07/2014 20:08

Great to see you here again..

Happy Birthday Choc hope you've enjoyed your celebrations!

dontcallmehon I think this is a great way to help the healing - onwards and upwards (or rather downwards Grin ). You know you can do it again - we ALL do, don't we?

Thanks for the support everyone - any other 'diet' or 'eating plan' I would have kicked to the wayside by now, finding comfort in pizza and chips - I'm so impatient I need results every day!

But with this WOE and this thread, it's just easy to take a deep breath, get your head into the right place to say 'right, 500 cals tomorrow' - because we know it works.

And Claire I also weigh after fast days - why not see the best results for a bit of encouragement?

Good luck to all Wednesday fasters.

Chocupid · 30/07/2014 07:43

Ooh dontcallmelon sorry to hear about your bad news!
Must be healing if your ready to take control again though.

Thanks all for the birthday wishes... my son (17) arranged an amazing meal at a lovely 5* hotel where he works.. 6 courses of gourmet food cooked just for us, all washed down with champagne!
But god do I have a hangover this morning... Sad

Was going to Fast today but dunno if I can I feel so ill, has anyone tried fasting with a hangover?

PrimalLass · 30/07/2014 07:46

Urgh, FD but also day 1 of TOTM and the children are at PIL's tonight. I will try and stick with it.

dontcallmehon22 · 30/07/2014 08:39

Thanks for the welcome.

Fasting with a hangover I cannot do. To be honest, my weight loss has been slower because I will have one day drinking at the weekend and then the next day I have to eat all the food in the world Blush.

Fast day today. At the moment, after an eating day I weigh 9 stone 12 and after a fast day 9 stone 10. If I do a successful fast day today the numbers should start to move and I'm not planning on an alcohol blowout this week - though I do have a date Friday.

PiesnThighs · 30/07/2014 12:01

Morning all, FD for me too... Thankfully hangover free though! Trying to keep busy... Like lots of you have said, I find the second FD of the week far trickier than the first. Only put 1lb back on yesterday though, so I'm determined to keep up the good work.

I find it impossible to do a FD when hungover, I always need loads of carbs and sugar Blush.

So Choc, don't be too hard on yourself! Sounds like your hangover was totally worth it, how fab!
