Our thread has got too big.

Iwill start this one with two things:

Positive vibes for the exciting developments on the MN Marathon Relay thread and

Early ballot for GNR 2010 - you know you want to:)

Hi Rosa, nice to have you here!

Did my usual Tuesday night 4 miles last night. Usually takes me 36 or 37 mins but started quite fast last night as was cold and wanted to heat up! Managed it in 34 mins and 45 secs, which is my fastest time ever and felt kinda sick after sprinting the last bit. All good fun though.

Decided my aim for the first half of this year is to do a sub 55 min 10k.

Twink - hoping you are having more good than bad days.

Wallace skiiing! scary and dangerous, but good for the leg muscles I think!

Twink · 03/02/2010 23:17

Thanks for the thoughts. Did run last night but went for a 10k rather than the organised speed session, some friends came with me, and of course, I came home feeling tons better.

Had a much better day today, had to stay in this morning so friends called in and I put new tyres on my MTB, mended miniT's puncture, made bread, cooked tea all before 11am. Surveyor came to assess cavity wall insulation requirements and found it all a bit odd - kitchen full of bikes and bits etc but hey, the garage was cold

Climbed this afternoon, and did 4 miles tonight so all in all, a much better day. Didn't wear mascara but at least it wouldn't have fallen off

Thanks guys xx

MoshiMoshi · 04/02/2010 10:23

Am twitching to get out sans buggy today .

Glad run went well, Twink. The power of running is immeasurable.

sfxmum · 05/02/2010 16:30

hello all

twink hoping your balance of better days starts increasing

went out late this morning, only slot in busy day but felt really tired and nearly gave up after 2 miles started walking back but decided it would be lame not to even do 3 miles and got running again small victories

hope everyone is well anyone racing this weekend?

Themasterandmargaritas · 05/02/2010 17:52

Twink, good to hear you having a good day.

Welcome Rosa.

Lordy, I can't imagine running after skiing! Did you manage?

We do a kind of Kenyan version of PiYo, probably it's all rather different to how it actually should be.

I popped out almost 7k tonight, after a HUGE thunderstorm it was still raining a bit and it felt so good to run in the cool rain.

I snorted Twink when you asked me what distance I am going to do on the 28th, I assume you meant between the 5k and the 21k. I can not ever never imagine doing a full marathon. I just don't think my body can handle such a thing. So it is another half for me. It is at a lower altitude than here so I am hoping that might mean I can knock off a couple of minutes [hopeful]

Popsy, how are you doing???

Wheelybug · 05/02/2010 18:23

Helo all

Well done Moshi on getting out running !

DId 30 mins on weds and 40 today. Was so shattered though today as dd2 really isn't sleeping and every step felt v. heavy but managed 4.2 miles so not too bad for a slow run.

Need to do 4 miles on sunday too on my 10K plan !

Popsy - are you avoiding us ?????????

hatwoman · 05/02/2010 18:31

quick wave from hat...

good to see you're all getting out there.

been taking it very easy and I think i;m seeing progress...I can tie my own hair up (couldn't do that2 weks ago as fingers too numb to tell what they were doing), the thought of putting the kettle on no longer fills me with exhaustion, sleeping a bit better. going to get out this w/e with friends dog walking...and next week I'm going to walk the dog in running kit and see what a bit of a jog feels like...

MoshiMoshi · 05/02/2010 18:53

hat - sounds v promising. Am sending you all the positive thinking I can muster (which is quite a lot having been running again today and dropped to 8.15 min/mile so heading back in right direction thankfully!)

sfx - fantastic will power. Think small victories are the sweetest sometimes.

wheely - good effort despite the tiredness. DC4 has been waking at 3am since Christmas with this virus which has plagued us since dad died, and just recently gone through again, but the memory of that heavy tiredness is still fresh. It is a killer at my age now (37 last month) whereas sleepless nights weren't an issue with the first couple of DCs.

popsycal · 05/02/2010 19:58

I am here!!!###Had a very very very manic week in real life - mostly to do with work (but you may wish to know the I am offically 'an outstanding teacher on many different levels' hahaha)

Next week is manic too but not quite so.
I have a doc apt for monday but can't find the lump anymore but will go anyway.

Having hideous sleep. ds3 has regressed to newborn status and i am wrecked!

However, I WILL be running this weekend and have my new nike plus sensor whatsit and some new running socks (and a new running log book that they sent me for free)

I am sorry for not replying to everyone individually - must do better.

I also need to do the marathon relay teams....

Wallace · 06/02/2010 07:25

Oh goodness, hat, had been wondering where you were. Sounds like things are looking up?

popsy - Congratulations! have a nice run

I did manage a run the morning after skiing and my legs weren't too sore. But I could tell they were tired because I kept on stumbling in the snow. They were a bit achey afer the run though!

Themasterandmargaritas · 06/02/2010 15:29

Hattie that sounds very promising, I hope you go from strength to strength.

To the outstanding teacher, congratulations. I managed 16k today and it took 1hr 35mins, but I am dead on my feet. How can I break that 1hr 30 mark?? I bet you can do it easily Popsy.

Also I am ravenously hungry....anyone else eat loads more when they up the number of times/distance run?

It sounds like you are all sleep deprived just now, fingers crossed for some sleeping babies.

Wheelybug · 07/02/2010 16:16

Glad things are improving Hat. Hope all continues in the right direction.

Popsy - well done you !! Popsy/Moshi - sorry you are both suffering with bad sleep but it inspires me to continue running despite it if I know others are able to make it too !

Talking of which did another 4 miles today - as feeling a bit despondent all the way round because it wasn't feeling v. easy and I was wondering what to do about it. However, when I finished I had run it in 36 mins (35.57 to be exact) which is much faster than I have been running before. I had to come in and check I hadn't missed part of my route. DH asked if there was something wrong with the stopwatch (). SO that's given me a bit of a boost anyway.

Wallace - good to know is possible to run after skiing - I will be doing the MN marathon the day after I get back from a week of it - yikes !!

Wallace · 08/02/2010 19:05

master - the only way to do it is do intervals/fartlek/hill training. And, yes, I get starving

wheelybug - don't fancy running after a week of skiing. Actually I think the week of skiing would finish me off...

I did 6 miles today which is the most I've done for months.

peachsmuggler · 08/02/2010 23:37

Yea Master, I get v hungry, especially day after a long run. Eat cake. It' Delish! Need to motivate myself if I'm going to get to 15 miles by end of March. Have had too much wine tonight ( catching up with old friend) bur will get back on it tomorrow!

hatwoman · 09/02/2010 11:03

hurray! went out for a short run today. just 2 miles but it's a start. no idea if i'll be able to do the edale skyline having been out of action for most of jan. head says not. heart still wants to do it...

hatwoman · 09/02/2010 11:06

master it's one of the upsides - I eat like a horse when I'm doing a decent mileage. I always think how easy it would be for me to loose a few pounds (haven;'t got much extra but just a few pounds would flatten my tum nicely) but then I see the cake...

sfxmum · 09/02/2010 13:26

hello all

odd running this mood awful mood and one of those days when head just does not switch off, I kept telling myself to stop every time a particularly troubling thought came into my mind I suppose to random people walking past it might have sounded like I was trying to break the habit or that my legs had a life of their own

about food am currently trying to loose a few pounds while trying to increase mileage I find that I need to be careful about food choices post exercise and curb the craving for cake

if I was not trying to loose I would just go for it

hope everyone is well, is it 6wks to T day?

Wheelybug · 09/02/2010 14:51

Yeah for Hat ! well done. Fingers crossed for the edale skyline.

I am trying to up mileage and cut down on food too SFXmum as am trying to lose the post baby pounds (esp as said baby is almost 1 -eek). Have now cut out wine monday - thursday and trying to be good but lack of sleep always makes me crave choc !

My gym creche has re-opened which is good but am not looking forward to the fact one of my runs will be on a treadmill again but is good that I'll then only have to run at night once a week ! Am hoping to get out for 30 mins tonight, then 40 in the gym friday then over the weekend 50 mins (we're away with friends at center parcs tho but am going to fit it in) then next week I get up to 10K on my training plan - woo hoo !!

Its this week we find out about GNR ballot too - keep nervously checking my email.... Still not sure what outcome I want !

MoshiMoshi · 09/02/2010 14:59

Off for first session of hockey training tonight in 15 years. Fingers crossed my torn ACL holds together. That and my pelvic floor of course.

popsycal · 09/02/2010 21:23

Hi everyone
Am reading but not much time to write. Real life is fairly hectic but should hopefully have time to catch up next week when it is half term and 2 of my 3 boys are going to in laws for a few nights

no running

peachsmuggler · 09/02/2010 21:27

Fell over when out running tonight. Ouch. Felt like a right nitwit actually but got away with skint hands, ankle, calf and bum but not too bad. Looking for a virtual "there there" and application of stingy ointment.

Hope the hocky went well Moshi, it can be brutal huh?

Good luck with the ballot Wheely
