I received my scales yesterday and am quite horrified to discover I weigh around a stone more than I expected, I'm 10.5 which is the heaviest I've ever been at only 5'4". Carrying mostly around my stomach and hips, and really need to tone my bum. Last night and this morning during baby's nap, I done some exercises with a resistance band focusing on glutes, and today went for my first run. I have a holiday booked for end of next month so my target is to lose a stone and tone up by then.

Would this give me a 3?

FurForksSake · 06/03/2026 21:27

@sharkstale well done! Sounds like you’ve had some great sessions.

Be kind to yourself with the weight loss, it’s often a lot slower than we’d like! Aim for 1/2 or 1/4 a stone and then you can be pleasantly surprised if it’s more.

Okay, thank you, I'll take that on board. I just feel really insecure and am quietly dreading how I'll look on holiday if I don't do something about it by then. I'll adjust my expectations so as not to disappoint myself and aim for 1/2 a stone and a toned bum 😂

FurForksSake · 06/03/2026 21:40

@sharkstale the only person noticing the state of your ass is going to be you. However, I totally get it and it’s great to have something to aim for. Also exercise is great for mood and to give you more energy and so you’ll enjoy the holiday even more for being a bit more fit and toned!

@Alittlefrustrated sounds lovely! Did Ylu have the weather?

Just did 23 mins Fit by Mik video on YT. That marks a WHOLE YEAR of exercising every day.

365 days in a row. Some days just three minutes, other days could be up to 3 hours, but day after day after day. I can hardly believe it but apparently I AM the kind of person who can sustain an exercise habit.

Looking forward to my work medical in 10 days to see what impact this might have had on my results!

One of my knees is a bit weird now so taking it easy. I’m very lucky that I haven’t been injured or unwell. Maybe I’m going to try for 500 days now. Would that be mad?

FurForksSake · 07/03/2026 12:07

500 would not be mad at all, congratulations!!!!

Managed to get a cancellation for the Saturday morning pilates class. 45 minutes.

It's a bit more challenging than the Monday class and I can feel my sore bits already. This is only the second time that I've managed to get a booking for it.

stilldumdedumming · 07/03/2026 20:59

@ComtesseA huge win!

BezMills · 08/03/2026 07:05

Inspiring and amazing @Comtesse

I was just thinking this morning as I'm on day 13 of failing to get to the gym, I can't let that stop me.

It's that all or nothing mentality of "oh I can't get away for a proper gym sesh, might as well admit defeat and do nothing at all".

Bearing in mind I have a pullup bar, kettle bells, various giant "laccie bands" ab roller, gym rings etc etc. and a park gym 3 minutes walk from my front door...

I did sort out my office a bit so there is space to do some bodyweight exercises and went for a nice walk after school drop off on Tuesday, so not an absolute completely lost week. But still quite unsatisfactory. I'm solo parenting next weekend so I best get a shimmy on where I can before then!

stilldumdedumming · 08/03/2026 12:43

@WinterFrogsah I see. Sounds very hard indeed!

we went to the garage gym this morning and did mainly lower body - physio tomorrow.

I have just got a cancellation for tomorrow's Pilates, but still can't get a place on the Senior Flex aerobics.

WinterFrogs · 08/03/2026 20:46

Just dropping by to say 8

Tai chi and followed by a walking video which ramps up the number of steps considerably.

Good to hear of all the achievements. Very inspiring!

WickedGoodDoge · 09/03/2026 19:54

I went up my first Munro of the year (Beinn Ime) on Saturday. All week the weather had been promising but it ended up being fairly miserable. No rain at least, but you couldn’t see a thing, including much of the path, and it was freezing at the summit. Oh well. Lots of people got caught out by the forecast, but I did see plenty happy dogs! Up and down in 4 1/2 hours.

Sunday I did 60 minutes cardio (40 bike, 20 rower) but kept it pretty gentle to not completely kill my legs and I did 45 minutes of pump this morning.

I’m finally back in the healthy weight range but would still like to lose half a stone or so.

20 min cheesy walking video this morning - knee dodgy, trying to make a physio appointment, figure I can’t do much harm with mainly walking…

@ComtesseI have decided my body will take any turn to malfunction!!

@WearyAuldWumman that’s loads!

I have a full day of moving ahead. And tonight I’m covering a yoga class. I’m a bit apprehensive because I haven’t taught in a year or so and I do generally make up my own practice interspersing it with physio. I know the class well - I’ve been in it for 20 years I reckon so they won’t mind what we do. I am queen of śavāsana so they appreciate a good lie down. Still… wish me luck!

Alittlefrustrated · 10/03/2026 18:43
