Ouch @MummyInTheNecropolis , hope you are feeling less sore now.
Scary feeling. I tripped over a raised paving slab while running a few years ago and fractured upper and lower jaw. Horrendous!!!
The recovery was so painful and slow, with bands around metal plates to hold the jaws together - so I mainly run on the treadmill now! ( No solid food for 6 weeks helped with weight loss, although I managed to poke chocolate buttons between the bands and wait for them to melt...!)
Anyway, a good day today, and sounds like you have all been up to some fun exercise activities.
Shred Day 1, hate this but it is effective.
Morning yoga.
Walk the dog- dont really count it, but it helps with step count.
Finishing with bedtime yin yoga.
See you all tomorrow.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 10/05/2026 21:51

Oh my goodness @Buntyforgirls that sounds awful, you poor thing! I shall count myself lucky that I only ended up with some cuts and grazes!

I’ve just soaked my hand in hot water and set about it with some sterilised tweezers. Managed to get all of the grit out I think 🙌

Was painful, but not as painful as sitting in urgent care for hours on end!

Comtesse · 11/05/2026 00:16

22m walk with weighted vest tonight. No horrid accidents at least….

WearyAuldWumman · 11/05/2026 19:41

Brief treadmill warm-up.

Tried the shoulder press for the first time in years - only 3 sets of 3 - 15 kg. Most I could manage.

Pilates class, 45 minutes. We used those long polystyrene balance pole thingies. I was first to fall off.

Primarily balance, but it also makes the core work a bit more challenging.

WearyAuldWumman · 11/05/2026 22:41

I'm embarrassed to admit that at the point that I fell off, the pole was lying on the mat and I was lying with the pole down the middle of my back. I think that I had it positioned incorrectly. The next time I tried it, I was able to lean my head on it.

I think I'm going to order a second-hand copy of Teach Yourself Pilates from Abe Books.

Buntyforgirls · 12/05/2026 08:50

I do love pilates- it's so graceful- classical pilates- and closest to my dreams of being a ballerina I'll ever get!
Beautiful, sunny morning, THINKING of going out to run around the park...

stilldumdedumming · 12/05/2026 17:52

Ahhh I have been absent with some very crappy circumstances that have been really upsetting. Despite this I have been exercising daily including 80x 25m of the pool yesterday.

45 minutes Musical Theatre Fitness class, followed by 30 minute Stretch class.

I am so pleased that I bought myself a pair of knee pads. Game changer.

Today - pilates class, qigong class

Thats the last of my booked pilates - been going since before covid and I owe it a lot, but I'm going to try doing it on a morning at home. It'll save me £72 a month, and give me more evenings with my teen.
I'm so sorry you've been having a hard time stilldumdedumming. You've done so well to keep exercising - I hope it helps, and things get better for you soon x

Are you all seeing progress from consistency?

Yes benefits from consistency! No need to think about it and decide to exercise it’s just every day, boom boom boom. It’s not willpower, it’s just habit.

Has made a difference to fitness, muscle tone, weight, waist size - and that can be seen in my annual medicals too, lower body fat %, quite big changes in cholesterol (4.9 to 4.2 in a year with no medication).

I mean I’m still a bit overweight from BMI perspective, but much much better than I was.

Buntyforgirls · 14/05/2026 16:30

Wow, that is amazing- congratulations!
Thank you for replying. Do you exercise at the same time each day?
I like a lazy start to the day, so exercise can sometimes be pushed back until its too late. Maybe I should set a regular time on non- work days.

Today- a.m yin yoga
Shred day 3
Bedtime yoga- on this I have built a consistent routine- now it's part of bedtime as much as tooth brushing.

FurForksSake · 14/05/2026 20:40

Nothing today, but have finally ordered a pair of running shoes. One of the instructors is trying to get a beginners' running group off the ground.

We had a chat and he's agreed that I can try and see how I get on. His intention is to start off with walking, which suits me.

Comtesse · 15/05/2026 07:26

Hello @Buntyforgirls for me I’ve found mixing it up has been vital - I do a lot of different YouTube videos, but different types of exercise, different instructors. Plus other non YouTube stuff like dancing, jeffing, weighted vest walks, skiing etc. But I don’t normally count walking or cycling (I cycle to work quite often).

If I have time it’s good to do a little 10min sequence in the morning but hasn’t worked like that for the past few weeks. So I can choose what I do and when to do it, but it’s happening one way or another because I’ve already decided to exercise. Atomic Habits quite interesting on the psychology of this.
