That's amazing, Furforks. Well done.

Happleandhorange · 17/11/2025 07:47

Unusual one tonight: it is lovely balmy evening weather so I decided, when I'd walked the dog, to go out on my escooter and see how ankle and knee held up (they were good). I'm very pleased.

Morning all. Good to do something a bit different and especially if it's getting you out and about @Happleandhorange

Friday's crossfit was just three of us, which is always good. We did some technique work on the pistol squat (one leg all the way down then up). Of course I can't do them, that's a really powerful move but was encouraged that I could get into the positions by using all the bands to assist.
The workout was pistol squats, press ups, jump over plastic pipe and situps. five times round I think.

I managed to get a few minutes of 1-1 coaching on the bar thing that I want to work towards. Baby steps, but a really good little exercise that I can work on, and I've to go away to practise and then see coach in 2 weeks and show him what I can do. I can't ask for more than that, nice.

Of course I've had the busiest weekend and not done anything, but it do be like that sometimes, it do.

Three minutes on the exercise bike.

Massive heavy rainstorm here at the moment, looks like flooding. Hopefully not too bad. Went to gym and did 20 minutes pretty hard going on elliptical, then some stretches and light arm free weights. Felt good. Shoulder not displeased so far so fingers crossed it is starting to settle down.

Happleandhorange · 18/11/2025 06:57

I forgot to say, I realised I didn't have my headphones with me and with limited gym time decided to do one of the scenic walks on the elliptical system - I was going through the Banff mountains and it was amazing. Such a simple thing to use as structuee/motivation and it was so uplifting.

FurForksSake · 18/11/2025 19:30

Five minutes on my exercise bike. Hurt like hell, but hoping it is helping.

I have a car! So old schedule resumed!
hard core core class
hard Pilates class
and evening yoga class.

Tomorrow will be swimming- but I’m not sure about the frosty roads. Might put it off til lunchtime

Happleandhorange · 19/11/2025 08:51

Very gentle gym visit tonight. Just did the very basics to keep in the habit, there is a lot of stuff happening in my life ATM and trying not to set off PTSD panic attacks from raising heartrate/being out of breath too much.

Sending you much love @Happleandhorange I hope this time passes. Sounds good to keep yo gentle gambits and routines.

@Happleandhorangeall strength to you and your nervous system. I made the mistake of stopping due to stressful events and disability. It would have done me much better to keep showing up.

swimming today was 60 x 25m. Not as fast as last week but still 38 minutes so pretty nippy.

Happleandhorange · 19/11/2025 19:35

Thank you, people. It is good to know that you think this is the right strategy.

Alittlefrustrated · 19/11/2025 19:52

Ten minutes on the exercise bike, I might pay for that.

The importance of day to day habits was the main take away from Atomic Habits book for me. Even if it’s just something tiny every day it’s the principle of the thing.

Or: if a thing’s really important it’s worth doing half assed.

Yesterday - short weights routine and short HIIT video and a 25m bike ride.

stilldumdedumming · 21/11/2025 14:22

I couldn’t get on with the book but I defo agree with making the habit.

yesterday I was lounging in a spa with my mum!
Today was lower body. There was some ouchy glutes!

FurForksSake · 21/11/2025 14:25

I think that’s a very good sentiment. Do it half-arsed is going to be my motto.

Placestogo · 21/11/2025 18:50

Last minute hot yoga class - glad i went otherwise i would have stayed on sofa, scrolling IG and probably ordering a take away with the kids. Instead i went, enjoyed it, managed to do a candle! (I couldnt a month ago) and a crow pose. Very proud of myself!

im working towards 3 low push ups by Christmas and i was tbinking what about a headstand and a wheel (yoga sort of extended bridge) by Easter?

Happleandhorange · 22/11/2025 23:15

Yesterday I,used my scooter again, riding to butchers to get some brisket. Im counting it as a workout as I am still trying to get comfortable on it and need enxouragement! And because it uses the same caloeies as walking. My big plan today is to scooter to gym, then have coffee in cafe to celebrate, but we will see how that goes.
Ive lost my appetite due to the family crisis (which seeems resolved) so want to eat and move gently for now.

WearyAuldWumman · 22/11/2025 23:19

Managed to get a place on the Saturday morning pilates class, only to find out that the instructor was on holiday.

The cover instructor cheerfully informed us that she'd be using a different routine and would be going fast because we 'know all the moves'.

We did not know all the moves... I managed a lot of the 45 minute workout (I think).

Happleandhorange · 23/11/2025 05:24

Oh no!
That would have finished me off.

I did scoot to gym. Did weights and stretches there, then came home again. It was such a good feeling. And gentle, which is what I need ATM.

It’s definitely NOT about perfectionism, I know that much. I like this picture to explain it. 260 days on the bounce.

Keeping on exercising
BitOutOfPractice · 23/11/2025 10:10

Hello you lovely lot!

I had a bit of a wobble last week and missed the gym 3 days on the trot (plenty of walking) and fell off the dry November wagon at a work do as well. But I am back now. Yesterday I did Strength training and I’m just off for a run now.

I hope you are all keeping on keeping on.
