20 mile road cycle (fairly hilly terrain, decent pace eg 16mph average)

Harrysmummy246 · 24/04/2023 14:34

Currently not as fit as I'd like but short run (first in ages, slow, off road), pilates class, 30 mins rowing machine, 30 min water row including sprints, 60 min steady state water row. Didn't do the weights that I should have but I work in horticulture and am on my feet and shifting heavy stuff a lot anyway

Augend23 · 24/04/2023 14:38

I'd class myself as fat and fit, though looking at the others here I maybe need to redefine my standards. Worth noting for anyone else feeling inadequate when reading all these answers, nearly 40% of adults in the UK don't do even 2.5hrs of moderate exercise a week. Makes me feel better anyway.

Monday - 3 mile brisk walk
Tuesday - weights session at gym, v leisurely swim.
Wednesday - nothing
Thursday - 1 hr badminton, leisurely swim.
Friday - 7 mile walk, 1hr badminton, leisurely swim.
Saturday - 43km cycle ride
Sunday - 5 mile walk

So that totals about 6 hours of moderate or intense exercise, and another few of leisurely.

So jealous. No matter how slow and carefully I train I’m always on the verge of mechanical breakdown. Currently icing my knee!

Oh god. You poor thing. That’s so frustrating isn’t it!

m when I kept getting this numb foot it was driving me crazy. It still goes a bit strange but it was due to the new shoes I had.

was crap. I tried doing that MAF training but I’m crap with hills and stuff. I love on road running but I often wonder if I’m really screwing up my body when I hit like 60?

Nocutenamesleft · 24/04/2023 14:50

Oh and I do aerial skills. Hoop. Rope. Silks. I love to climb too. I did two hours of aerial and Sunday I did climbing. On my day off from running!

maranella · 24/04/2023 14:54

1 hr barre class
1 hr cardio barre class
1 hr running development training
7k run (mix of flats and hills)

I'm building back up to running longer distances again after being a bit lazy recently, but I'm reasonably fit after a week's skiing the week before last.

Codlingmoths · 24/04/2023 14:55

So jealous!! I’m a busy ft working mum of 3 young dc. I am slowly building fitness but not fit. I do 1 x weekend run about 7 km, one reformer pilates session, most weeks one x weights session which used to be with an online trainer and is just me at home now, hoping to find a gym option. I’d love a midweek 5k run too while wfh.

SisSuffragette · 24/04/2023 14:59

5x 45 minute outdoor morning bootcamps
1x 10 mile run.
A ten minute abs workout

PosiePerkinPootleFlump · 24/04/2023 15:01

I've done one easy pace 1km swim (got out sooner than I'd planned) and 1 easy pace 6km run. But I've deliberately resting after Manchester Marathon 8 days ago. Planning a week alternating swimming and gentle running then ramping the running back up from the weekend.
I'd normally run about 50-70km per week and hope to do a 2km swim as well. I tell myself I will do some strength stuff at some point but never do

refreshingseahorse · 24/04/2023 15:02

4 days weight training (One hour at the gym )
1 Zumba class
1 x 40 mins worth of Youtube dance workout

I need to include some flexibility / mobility but I get really bored with that stuff so I keep putting it off.

Capitulatingpanda · 24/04/2023 15:04

5 days of powerlifting around an hour each.
5 days of yoga.
Lots of walking.

MrsAvocet · 24/04/2023 15:07

AI'd say I'm moderately fit for my age though I have a disability which limits me somewhat.I can't do much weight bearing exercise unfortunately.
In the last 7 days I have done 2 walks about 4 to 5 km each, mountain biking about 15km, 2x 25km road bike rides and I've been sailing for about 4 hours which is a fairly good upper body workout.

How do you fit that in? I would be knackered after that many classes, are they back to back?

TescoFinestMyArse · 24/04/2023 15:24

I ran a bath this morning.

MintyBinty · 24/04/2023 15:37

I just got back into exercising regularly at the gym, but I also take dance classes so I’m fairly active in general:

1.5 hour gym session, approx 5km on the treadmill followed by weight lifting

1 hour ballet class

1 hour gym session (cardio and weights)
1 hour ballet class

1.5 hour gym session (5km run plus weights)

1 hour gym session (cardio only)

1 hour ballet lesson

Yes they are all back to back. I’ve been doing it a long time and am pretty fit so I’m not too knackered afterwards

Hubblebubble · 24/04/2023 16:43

Swimming Friday, HIIT class and swimming Thursday, swim and gym Wednesday, swimming and yoga Tuesday. Chasing after a toddler all weekend.

Yellowsubmarineunderthesea · 24/04/2023 16:52

I would say no one cycling 180km a week is likely to be of average fitness of their age. You just tend to make friends with people similar to you - i.e. those that are fit and like to exercise.

lljkk · 24/04/2023 17:36

If we are judging compared to fitness in other people our age/sex then... I win. 😀. Almost no one I know exercises as much as do. And yet I do plenty sedentary crap (like posting on MN). tbh, I listened to other girls when we were all 13-15yo moaning about their health issues & thought "Fuck me. If your health is bad now, what will it be like when we're 50+ ?" so... yeah, I've tried. To keep my fitness.

I did not have time for lots of physical activity when I had small children in house. It's a pre-children / late mid life luxury.
