I've just done W1 R1 so am at the beginning. Anyone else want running friend/s? A couple of rl friends fancy doing it but I bet there's people here that have been thinking about it like I did for a while?
I know there's plenty on MN already doing it but want to chat with newbies like myself. Spur each other on 🏃‍♀️👟👟

Well done, Bakewell❤️

Flashinggreen · 01/07/2023 06:48

Well done @bakewellbride i also completed it yesterday. Might try the parkrun route on Sunday or very soon! And @Vebrithien so close now.

I find in the middle I settle into it but in the last few minutes I want it to end! Not really loving running but do feel stronger and want to keep up regular running but with some other CV maybe spinning again.

Did you do it, Smarties? Fitness doesn’t decline too much before two weeks, so no to head demons telling you that.

I did indeed! I had a pretty stressful week, and thought I’d try and run it off. I just kept going until I couldn’t ….and ran the furthest I’ve ever done -6k!

It was slow - took 43 minutes but I felt pretty good at the end!

i just need to get better at motivating myself as although it’s tough - it’s so good for my mental well-being!

I've really stopped the programme lately due to illness and work but I've kept doing Parkrun and alternating 60 seconds of running and 60 of walking all the way round. I hope to get back onto C25K next week.

bakewellbride · 01/07/2023 20:47

Thank you @smooththecat @Flashinggreen

I did it! W9R3 done this eve! 🎉

Well done! I did W8R2 today, 28 mins seems such a long time!

Vebrithien · 03/07/2023 06:13

Yay @bakewellbride well done!

I've just done W9R2, but not sure of the actual distance. A bit outing, but I have ex railway tunnels locally that I can run in. However, the GPS gets a little bit confused!

I ran 2.2km underground.

Vebrithien · 03/07/2023 06:49

Okay, doing it the old fashioned way, looks like I ran 4.4km in 36 mins (the podcast cut out for 6 mins, so I just kept running).

Vebrithien · 05/07/2023 06:10

Well, that did not go to plan.

Went out to attempt my last run, managed 3 km, got awful cramps, and then fell off the curb and badly twisted my ankle.

I'm now limping home. About 1.5km away. And it's started raining.

I think I might attempt W9R3 on a different day...

SupremeCommanderServalan · 05/07/2023 07:47

bugger. Hope you are ok @Vebrithien

Vebrithien · 05/07/2023 08:31

Made it home, ankle strapped up, have probably torn something. I have hypermobility in my ankles anyway, so I turn my ankles relatively easily.

Heard it pop and click this time, which normally isn't good!

Am so annoyed with myself, I was in track for 5km in 40 mins.

Hopefully, I'll be able to head out on Friday or Saturday for that final run. I've not missed a single one in the whole program, so ironic to stumble at the last hurdle!

Puddock1 · 05/07/2023 18:29

Sorry to hear about your ankle @Vebrithien. How frustrating. Hope you make it out for your last run soon. I’m also off my feet! Strained my calf 5 minutes into W8R1 so going to take a few days off.

Vebrithien · 12/07/2023 07:51

Well, after my ankle ballooned, had an x-ray (just soft tissue damage).

I managed to head out again this morning, 1 week on.

Have decided to repeat W9, so this morning was W9R1. I was slow (only 3.5k), but didn't particularly want to push it today.

smooththecat · 12/07/2023 13:28

Sorry to hear of the injuries. I’m going very slowly and repeating runs, I’m up to week 5 run 1. I know I could push through to the end without repeating any so don’t really know what the hell I’m doing. I think I think that if I’ve had more than one day of rest I need to repeat.

Puddock1 · 12/07/2023 18:26

@smooththecat you will be building up stamina by repeating runs which can only be a good thing ☺️👍. Well done getting out again @Vebrithien. I finally tried W8R1 again last night as calf felt better but after 5 mins running it was sore again!! I think I’ll have to take at least a fortnight off so back to the couch I go 😂

Vebrithien · 15/07/2023 08:40

I did it!

Ran for 5k this morning (technically W9R2). It took 40 mins, but I am so happy!

smooththecat · 15/07/2023 19:58

@Vebrithien Thats amazing! I hope I’ll be joining you sometime soon. I’ve only done 2 runs this week, I need to do at least every other day to make any progress.

Vebrithien · 19/07/2023 06:45

I have graduated!

Woohoo!

Finally did W9R3.

Carried on running at the end, and got to 5km in 40 mins.

I suspect this will be my next aim, to get the time for 5km down, rather than looking to run further. If nothing else, due to the time. I already have to get up at 5:15 to do these runs!

Flashinggreen · 19/07/2023 08:40

Well done @Vebrithien

I graduated but haven’t been able to run since. Stubbed my toe 2 weeks ago and it’s still swollen and painful to walk on so not sure when I’ll be able to run again 😫

smooththecat · 27/07/2023 19:33

Is anyone still going? I just did the dreaded W5R3, it seemed harder than last year and caused some rather unfortunate stomach issues.

I have probably pushed a bit hard as I don’t remember it being like that.

Puddock1 · 27/07/2023 19:53

Well done @smooththecat! Making good progress. I’m hoping to get back out in the next couple of weeks once I’ve seen the physio about my leg. I’m surprised how much I’m missing it!!

smooththecat · 27/07/2023 21:00

Good luck. I saw a physio once about a yoga injury and it was so helpful.

Puddock1 · 16/08/2023 21:27

Hi there how’s everyone getting on? I finally ventured out this evening. Went back to week 4 and it went ok. Legs feel sore already after 6 weeks out of it!

MaryasBible · 31/08/2023 18:36

Hi everyone. Hope everyone is still running. I’m hovering on week 5. I’m so overwhelmed by the 20 minute run in run 3 that I don’t really get past it.

In an attempt to get used to longer runs I need to go early in the morning but it can be a bit quiet where I live. Does anyone run with an alarm? Like a personal attack alarm? If so does it make you feel safer?
