Anyone wanting to start C25K and needing motivation?

I've just done W1 R1 so am at the beginning. Anyone else want running friend/s? A couple of rl friends fancy doing it but I bet there's people here that have been thinking about it like I did for a while?
I know there's plenty on MN already doing it but want to chat with newbies like myself. Spur each other on 🏃‍♀️👟👟

W4R1 done! Can't believe I ran for 5 mins at a time! Okay, I'm like a tortoise, but it's still faster than walking and raises my heart rate.

Ran for 16 mins over 4 runs, and ran about 1.8km yes, I run on the school 400m race track

Feel fabulous!

Here is a photo from my cool down walk.

W5R3 done. I should have gone out yesterday but bottled doing a 20 min run, so Saturday morning it was. At this stage my biggest enemy is my brain so once I got to the 15 min mark I forced myself to do a - look a tree! - look a bird! Until I started to think there were buzzards circling above me as I crawled along. At which point Jo Whiley put me out of my misery, thankfully.

I am slow, and v overweight. When I completely C25k previously I wasn't at 5k at the end, but used it as a starting point to get there on my own. I work with some seriously competitive people who share their strava stats for how fast they manage their 5ks, but I just keep quiet and get on with it.

What an uplifting photo @Vebrithien. It feels lovely being out in nature.

Well done for doing the 20 minutes @SupremeCommanderServalan - I'm planning mine on Monday 🤞. At some point I'm going back on Strava to record my routes and stats but not ready to just yet!

Hello everyone, so many newbies since I last posted, really positive to read all your achievements, really made me smile.
@DCINightingale i think we were at a similar place last time I posted, fabulous to read you’ve made it to the end already, well done!
im on w7r3 next, still plodding and still not enjoying it - but, I feel so much better afterwards and have more energy all day and find I breathe so much deeper. So I’ll keep on slowly and see where it gets me.
happy running everyone.

Hi, I’d like to join your please! Just completed week 4, run 3 and kind of enjoying it once I get out there! It’s a struggle to get motivated though. Week 5 looks interesting 😳
I’ve started the program to try and keep up with my kids who are both keen runners.
Well done to all of you ☺️ Great to read about everyone’s progress.

W5R3 done this morning. Wanted to stop in first few minutes at the start and end but the middle was ok! The sunshine helps me. Keep going everyone

Vebrithien · 29/05/2023 07:10

W4R2 done!

Is W5 really all that bad?

bakewellbride · 29/05/2023 07:12

@Vebrithien I just completed week 5 on very broken sleep due to having a baby. If I can do it you definitely can! And after the 3rd run you'll feel so great x

Tartantop · 29/05/2023 09:42

Wow well done everyone for your progress!

I’m a bit annoyed with myself, it was going so well however I wasn’t feeling great yesterday so decided to postpone w3r3 until this morning before work. I had a rubbish sleep so decided that I will go later, but I already feel like I’ve let myself down for not completing week 3 last week.

My plan of attack will be to complete w3r3 tonight and do you think it would be ok to do w4r1 tomorrow?

SupremeCommanderServalan · 29/05/2023 10:18

W6R1 done. I really find that I have to stick to my set days for doing this, otherwise I can v easily kid myself that it's ok to put it off. Having the programme going in my ear actually means that I do it, whereas if I was doing it on my own I know I would give up.

Thank you!

W4R3 done, facing W5 from Saturday.

Getting less out of breath now, but legs still feel like lead.

Tartantop · 31/05/2023 07:54

Well done @Vebrithien, how are you feeling about W5? Do you do 3 runs a week or do you run every other day?

I dragged myself out of bed at 5.45 today to do W4R2. Found it ok but for the first two runs my calves were so tight and sore! I have no idea how I’m ever going to speed up, I feel like I’m giving it my all to jog at a snails pace 😂

Vebrithien · 31/05/2023 11:50

Feeling a little apprehensive, to be truthful!

I run on Sat, Mon and Weds, and do some cardio videos on Thurs and Fri.

Am slow, and legs feel so heavy, but I know my breathing is loads better.

Flashinggreen · 31/05/2023 14:55

W6R1 done this morning. Although my headphones kept disconnecting which then caused the app to stop, ran for more than 5 mins for the first run as I just thought the music had stopped not that the app had too. Felt ok though. I just keep telling myself it’s all researched and I can do it.

Vebrithien · 03/06/2023 07:12

W5R1 done.

Lovely, crisp morning.

I'm fine with the 5 min runs on the flat, but as soon as there any incline, I get badly out of puff. Got to work on my hills, I guess?

SupremeCommanderServalan · 03/06/2023 09:12

W6R3 done this morning, should have done it yesterday before work but kept putting it off.

I got to the 20 min mark ok, then inhaled some horrible little flying thing, so the last 5 mins was spent coughing and feeling revolted (which took my mind of the running!)

Bemyclementine · 03/06/2023 10:46

Starting today with my sister, wish me luck!

bakewellbride · 03/06/2023 21:25

Well done everyone on getting out there Smile

I did W6R2 today and feel a bit scared / sad - the breaks and chunks are over forever now and it's all 25 mins plus from now eek! 😳

Smarties2 · 04/06/2023 10:49

Morning, has anyone finished the programme?

I have finished (just) and have run 5k twice (albeit slowly) but I have found it SO hard! I just wondered when does it get easier. I just want to get to a stage where I don’t feel that I'm
going to pass out on the last 1k!

Vebrithien · 05/06/2023 06:17

W5R2 complete.

Pretty amazed to think that I ran for 8 mins nonstop, tired legs, but feel fine.

Whereas, the 8 x 1 min runs in W1 nearly killed me!

Puddock1 · 05/06/2023 08:43

Good luck @Bemyclementine . Hope you and your sister enjoy the first run!
Well done to everyone for their latest runs. I did W5R3 last night and it was actually not too bad. Legs are sore today from plodding the pavements!

Bemyclementine · 05/06/2023 14:55

@Puddock1 thank you, we dud run 2 today. Run3 planned for Thursday. We are both overweight, my sister more so, and have been failing at weight loss. We've both made the decision to focus on fitness and health and hope the weightless follows.

Vebrithien · 07/06/2023 06:25

W5R3 of 20 mins done!

I just ran for 20 mins!

Feel pretty great now, but as soon as I heard the "you can slow down now", I burst into tears. Bit of a surprise, really.

bakewellbride · 07/06/2023 09:55

@Vebrithien well done Smile

Flashinggreen · 07/06/2023 17:08

Well done @Vebrithien I found that one such a mental hurdle. W7r1 today wasn’t a walk in the park, but I kept going…
