I've just done W1 R1 so am at the beginning. Anyone else want running friend/s? A couple of rl friends fancy doing it but I bet there's people here that have been thinking about it like I did for a while?
I know there's plenty on MN already doing it but want to chat with newbies like myself. Spur each other on 🏃‍♀️👟👟

Thanks!

W6R1 done.

Might be a bit hungover...

Bemyclementine · 10/06/2023 15:57

@Vebrithien Well done on the 20 minutes! Can't imagine it atm!

Wk 2 R1 this morning. Phew!

smooththecat · 10/06/2023 16:38

Hi, can I join? I’ve started so many times and got to week 7 last year before giving up because of covid or winter or it being ruined. I’m at the end of week 2 now, I’m not feeling any benefit yet but want to finally get to the end. It makes my knee ache a bit (old yoga injury).

Flashinggreen · 11/06/2023 18:11

I’ve had a slower week only completing 2 runs but today was w7r2, so getting there. My first run in the rain and it was lovely, really helped keep me cool

MaryasBible · 11/06/2023 19:55

Well done to everyone who’s kept
going. I’ve been stuck on week 4 for a week or two now.

I'm posting tonight to try and keep me accountable. I want to do the final week 4 run tomorrow morning. It has to be morning runs this week as it’s a bit too hot and polleny after work when the weather is like this.

Fingers crossed I do it.

Bemyclementine · 11/06/2023 20:55

@Flashinggreen I have rain envy! I'm doing wk2 r2 tomorrow morning, hopefully around 9am. 🥵

Flashinggreen · 11/06/2023 21:02

Hope it’s not too hot @Bemyclementine
you can do it @MaryasBible

Vebrithien · 12/06/2023 05:57

W6R2 complete. 2 x 10 mins.

Honestly, this program is magic! I have no experience at all of running, and have just trusted and blindly followed the instructions.

Even managed a couple of little inclines today.

Tartantop · 12/06/2023 08:29

That’s great, well done @Vebrithien! I also feel like it’s magic. During my first 60 second run I remember thinking there is no way in hell I’ll be able to run for 5 minutes straight. Tonight I’m due to run for 20 mins doing w5r3.

I’ve done all my runs so far outdoors but I think it’ll be a bit too hot tonight. Should I try this one run on the treadmill at the gym? If so, what incline should I set it at?

SupremeCommanderServalan · 12/06/2023 09:11

W8R1 done as a fat sweaty mess this morning. I think I may need a baseball cap or something if this heat keeps up

Vebrithien · 12/06/2023 10:55

I've just realised.
Today was my last run with walking breaks.

Vebrithien · 14/06/2023 06:12

W6R3, 25 mins non-stop running, done!

The end is starting to look in sight.

What do I do post C25K???

Tartantop · 14/06/2023 08:11

That’s great @Vebrithien! The Nike Run Club app has a few different guided runs on it that I’m going to try when I complete C25K. I believe there are also 5k to 10k apps out there too.

I completed W5R3 yesterday and ran for 20 minutes straight. I couldn’t believe it!

Parkrun! Parkrun is great fun, addictive and helps keep you motivated.
Having said that I've somehow managed to hurt my foot (not running related) and can't run at the moment.

smooththecat · 15/06/2023 18:49

I did W3R1 on Tuesday but unfortunately witnessed a serious dog attack during. It’s kind of putting me off going out a bit.

Bemyclementine · 15/06/2023 22:15

That's awful @smooththecat Hope you're ok. Seems to be happening a lot at the moment.

Wk 2 R 3 done today. Next run Saturday!

smooththecat · 15/06/2023 22:26

I’ve braved it now. Eyes constantly looking for dogs.

Yes, it was awful and I don’t know if I can ever see dogs in the same way, even though logically I’ve never seen anything like this before.

Vebrithien · 16/06/2023 06:01

@smooththecat , I'm so sorry you had to see that. Hope you're okay.

I did W7R1 today. Another 25 min run.

Usually run in a Saturday, but away camping, so thought it easiest just to switch days.

Beautiful morning, going to be hot again today.

Vebrithien · 19/06/2023 06:05

W7R2 done

Bemyclementine · 19/06/2023 13:11

You're an early bird @Vebrithien ! Well done, I've done wk3 R2 today, plus a 3 miles brisk walk

Mistyskiestrains · 19/06/2023 18:34

Can I join? W1 Done.

Vebrithien · 21/06/2023 06:12

W7R3 done.

Found it hard this morning, my head wasn't really in it, and I also chose a route that was a bit more challenging. No hope of going faster, but want to gradually improve the terrain I run over.

Yes, @Bemyclementine, I tend to get up at 5:15 on the two work days that I run on, so I've time to get back, shower and then still get the children to school on time!

Vebrithien · 24/06/2023 07:59

W8R1 done.

28 mins running.
Think I've just broken the 3km mark.

No way I'll be at 5k by the end of next week, but I'll keep on pushing.

Well done! Do you track your distance to include the warm up and cool down or the running only?

I completed W6R3 today, 25 mins of running. For the first time I only recorded the run itself so that I could see an accurate pace (8’59/km…) and I only managed 2.8k. I suppose in time that’ll improve and so will the distance

smooththecat · 24/06/2023 16:33

I’ve carried on doing week 3, think I’ve done it 4 or 5 times and it’s not getting easier like last year. It could be psychological though as when I look at the times and pace for the running bits they are okay and managing to go faster each ‘interval’.
